They banned Michelangelo because he can stall the game with his down special and infinite jump AND he has a zero-to-death combo which the opponent has no chance of getting out. Thankfully, the recent patch was already been made and now he's no longer ban or broken anymore.
I feel like this game is trying to appeal to a very specific audience. That being the competitive Smash crowd that felt burned by Nintendo's lack of support for the competitive scene. The devs of NASB are all for supporting tournaments, allowing mods, and listening to the community, so of course they're gonna get praise from them. But I have to wonder how everyone else feels. How do people who aren't really competitive players and play Smash more casually feel about NASB as a complete package? Personally, when watching game footage of it, there are times where the game looks straight up unfinished to me and I can't believe it's $50. I understand it could get better in the future, but I'm gonna wait for that future to actually happen before considering spending money on it.
As a casual player I haven't touched a smash like game in over a decade. I got hooked on NASB because of the nostalgia. Also of how passionate the devs are with this game unlike other gamimg developers. I bought the game for $40 and I'm having a blast with it, it's fast but it still fun for me. Although the game could use more polishing and content, I know the devs will work on it as time goes.
Not too competitive player here. It took a while for me to get to grip with the controls. (probably when Smash Bros controls is burned to the brain to about 95% of the global population) and the mechanics. But after some adjusting, I'm having some real good fun with it. Yes, the mechanics are different from smash, (smash attacks are a dedicated button and the guarding system) and is tuned to a more competitive edge like the hi-speed, wavedashing, etc. But it's tuned in a way that even newbies can get to grips with the mechanics with relative ease until it gets to the point to where....Yes. You too want to just wavedash just for the lols. As a complete package at the moment. If you're looking for something to play multiplayer with friends/family/online tourneys, go for it. Don't buy it at $50 if you're a solo player. Bite for $30.
I think the dlc that we know is Garfield, shredder, and rockstedy I think Garfield is the first dlc because his map is almost done and you can play it by hacking

It was never really that niche, it was one of Capcom's best sellibg series long before it got mainstream attention with MH World, that is the reason it got so many games to begin with. It's just like with MegaTen or Final Fantasy, both series did very well way before their msinstream breakthrough, FF7 and Persona 3 respectively. On the other side we have MegaMan, super popular series, but complete floo financially (at least until now, the Legacy Collections sold pretty well), so it's never a good idea to judge an IPs success by mainstream attention.
Here are the characters I'd like to see appear as DLC: Jimmy Neutron, Hugh Neutron, Jenny, Squidward, and Tommy Oliver (assuming that Nickelodeon will still have the airing rights to Power Rangers by then).
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid would be another good one to cover. It's flawed but solid. The fact that they TRIED to get as many of the original cast members as possible while the show has long since moved on to sound-alikes is a big plus, and the actual fighting mechanics are a lot of fun. EDIT: Wow, wasn't expecting Toph to do John Cena's taunt, that's pretty amazing. Though it makes me want to see a cage match between her and The Boulder.

Personally I think the Cartoon Network one from 2011, “CN: Punch Time Explosion”, had more to it. It has a full story mode, Finishing Supers, Assists, alternate costumes and even voice acting.
Rocko is the most surprising omission for sure, Rocko's Modern Life was the first new Nicktoon to be added after the og 3, it got a movie, there's still tons of merch being sold in stores next to all the Spongebob and Rugrats throwback merch. Hopefully he or another character will show up in DLC.
On the bright side you can get music and voice acting via mods if you got the game on Steam. And if this game is successful maybe it will have a bigger budget if the sequel is greenlit.
I think once the game feels more polished and online is sorted, they defiantly add those in the future. Apparently it has been selling quite well according to sources on the sub reddit.
This game was made with competitive play in mind, which is why I feel like a lot of decisions, like the character choices featuring older and much more popular with the older crowd rather than newer shows or things that younger kids would like. No items despite many stages in the game not being legal, so that takes some of the fun out for causals. I don't really wanna blame the devs for that, they were simply given what to do and so they had to do it in there own way, but this is for people that want to play competitive, and not everyone wants to play that way, which is probably why you didn't like how controlling it felt, how the lack of certain things felt off-putting. With smash, you can play it how you want to, in Nick, you play competitively or in a very limited casual setting
also Nintendo spit on the competitive side of Smash now by C&D events, not bring Rollback Netcode and the worst of all cancel Melee and the devs only want them to bring back to those glory days because of that the devs had the respect of many competitive Smash players and the game is gonna have a bright future i mean look at Power Rangers Battle for The Grid

I think we're about to enter a golden age for platform fighters in general, so many have started to show up more frequently than ever before. Two of the more notable ones that come to mind outside of Nick All Star is Fraymakers a platform fighter starring Indie game characters and Multiversus which is all about Warner Bros characters. There's even a sequel to Rivals of Aether coming along. Oh and as a side note, I think the correct pronunciation for Ludosity is "loo-dos-ity".

As someone who has been playing smash my whole life and has played almost every other platform fighter there is i can say with 100% confidence that nick all star brawl is on of the most fun platform fighters and has a lot of depth in the gameplay. with the amount of content already promised that only was cut due to time restraints there is a lot to look forward to like garfield and shredder. Also the missing jimmy and timmy is likely due to the frederator rights issues.

Personally I would just add Zuko and Katara that way you would have one character rep for each element and then korra as a full on avatar with multiple elements Avatar is Easily one of Nick’s best properties I don’t think many people would complain
@@assburgers2432 I think Azula can be balanced by making her lighting more like Kazuya’s Devil Blaster, giving her a poor fire rate to compensate for the power and knockback. Then her firebending can be more of a continuous stream like Bowser and Charizard’s fire breath, but with more range. She’s also fairly short and thin, so she’d probably be fairly light. At least, that’s how I imagine her being.
The developers have been very open in communicating with fans about the development process. They are well aware of the importance of music and voice acting for a game like this and they pushed hard to try to get them in, but unfortunately the limited budget and deadlines they were saddled with by the publisher meant they didn't have the time or resources to get the licensing worked out. They had to choose between making sure the game looked and played as good as possible, or trying to lock in voice actors and hunt down the rights holders for the original music. The devs have said that if the game does well enough, adding voices is something they would definitely try to pursue.
Random thought: Kid Icarus: Uprising would be better suited for you just in how it's structured. I somehow get more comment happy when I'm tired. I need to stop.
One of the most important things about a fighting game is the music, not to mention that’s also one of the most important things about a cartoon as well. You may not realize it but those background Spongebob songs are ingrained in you mind, because hey we’re used appropriately.
Items I feel are the one thing we can all agree actually could have a place in this game, and the lack of them just makes it feel subpar. The premise of whacky cartoon characters beating the snot out of each other is too strong a premise not to have items day one. Hopefully they can add them in the future.

I actually thought that the music choices was pretty decent! Helga's, SpongeBob's, and the TMNT stages had music that felt pretty authentic to me! The lack of voice acting though is definitely strange. I legit would even settle for generic grunts and yells as far as voice work.
I've followed this channel for a bit and this is the first time I saw Saberspark on this channel lol. I don't have this game but it does make it sound like they're catering towards competitive/pro players. I'm just a casual Smash player and I just care about the roster and the tons of single player content and modes. I don't think this game would hold my attention for long.
There was an actual war between Smash fans and Nick All-Star Brawl fans prior to the game's release because of how the latter has rollback netcode and wavedashing, making it a better competitive game than the former. It's gotten to a point where some competitive Smash players encouraged their followers to boycott the game and play Nick All-Star Brawl instead to punish Nintendo neglecting their needs and demands for competitive play. The drama did turned off some gamers from trying out Nick All-Star Brawl because of the toxic fanbase it was gaining.
I think the mistake that people are doing is comparing it to Smash Ultimate. It was stated (I think) that it was inspired by Smash Melee and the competitive side of Smash in general. That would explain why there are no items or "Final Smash" since the competitive side doesn't use it. But it could have been a budget issue, etc, but hopefully, this game gets support in the future. Note: It was $40 ($39.99) if you pre-order the game digitally.
Even if they couldn't get the original voice actors (in some cases you can't because Aang's voice actor hit puberty some time ago), they could have at least gotten good impersonators. Really shows how small their budget is.
RE: Improving the videos- What I really really enjoy about the videos on your other channel is the deep research you do; the 'why' behind everything that is the way it is. I get pretty much the entire history of a movie's production thanks to you! I really love that! So if you're looking for some guidance on the videos of this channel, mine is just to take some more time and do some more digging the way you do for things like Bad Cat or Misty Green Sky! Those are some impressive jobs!
Two game series I think Saber would enjoy not only playwise and irl storywise would be the Bookworm Adventures series and the Fossil Fighters series. Cancellations and corporate drama are things I think Saber excels at talking about and these games are not only fun but also something he'd be able to get into from a corporate lore standpoint
They add sound effects and voice clips and music and a few nickolden inspired game modes and achievements and boom they game is perfect and add ever single nickolden cartoon since the 90s to know reps if that cartoon wise

They should add XJ9/Jenny and co. from "My life as a Teenage Robot". Those characters were just MADE for a fighting game! Also... Nickelodeon made this All Star Brawl... but they kinda ignore the fact they released, YEARS AGO, "Nickelodeon Party blast", an absolutely AWESOME game with a similar style of crossovers, except that instead of a basic "Smash" arena, it was several arenas with different goals and competitions, like a rollerskate basketball court, building tubes, shooting, racing...
As feedback on the video format I think a good thing would be to have a breakdown of various aspects like the 5 Points from the animation videos but for video games. E.g. You could cover: Story Gameplay Graphics Replayibility Cost I get that these aspects were covered throughout the video but much like with the animation videos it makes for a good roundup of the points covered in the video.
Take note that NASB is NOT the first Nick Smash Clone. Back in 2008-ish there was a flash game on the official Nick site called SMASHFEST! It had SpongeBob, Timmy Turner, Otis from Barnyard and Private from Penguins of Madagascar with Patrick as an unlockable. The battle for King Julien's crown was a tough one...and I never won....but some day....that crown will be MINE!
There's rumors of Warner Bros. making their own fighting game too, called Multiversus. It's almost like after Smash Ultimate finished with its roster, all the other companies decided it would be safe to jump into the wacky party fighters now. Not that I'm complaining.

I'm just at a loss for who this game was supposed to be designed for. Stripping the whole thing to little more than its fighting mechanics suggests they want this to be a seriously taken fighter, but what motivation is there to start playing this over itemless, hazardless Smash? It's like that failure Icons just with actual copywritten characters. If it's for a younger demographic like the choice of IP suggests, why is it so light on the wackier aspects from party modes to items to voices and so caught up in the aforementioned mechanics stuff? Who would WANT a Nickelodeon game of all things to be taking itself this seriously as a fighter? I know there are plenty of people who treat Smash as an ultra serious competitive fighter, but every bit as much, if not more, of the playerbase has items on and just plays it bum around with their pals. The whole damned thing just seems so confused.
I know I'm not the only one hoping this game can take some massively effective leaps forward which gives me a little hope for future fun times with friends and family playing characters which we grew up with. We shall see I guess. 😊

Many of the things you said were missing, Ludosity is already aware of and wanted as well, but they funneled the tiny budget into making sure the game plays well, first and foremost. They also said they'd like to add a lot more through updates if the game does well and sells, which would give them a higher budget to work with. The things they said they'd like to add, include voice acting, new stages, stage alts, new DLC characters, and more.

Viacom doesn't know who Ludosity is, or their pedigree, so to them, it's a risky investment if they allowed Nickelodeon to give them a higher budget. But it was actually more likely it was Nickelodeon themselves that gave the budgetary restrictions, rather than Viacom, but the reasoning is likely the same. With such a shaky history with game quality and return investment with sales, it would make sense that they'd be more trepidatious. That's why we need to buy the game, at full price, to not only help give Ludosity a higher budget, but to also help Nickelodeon sit up and take notice. Money speaks louder than words, and people saying "the game doesn't look finished and lacks stuff, I'll pass" won't help Nickelodeon give higher budgets, it will just reinforce their idea that games are a poor investment for them, which is objectively untrue if they handle the involved studios correctly.

Battle for Bikini Bottom was one that a lot of people enjoyed too, but a couple decent games out of the dozens they've made, doesn't mean they haven't had a rough history in games. Almost all their games were about on the same level as shovelware, and were really not that good. From their cart racers, fighting games, platformers, and more. Most of them have either been bad, or low quality, and usually end up in the bargain bin after release. That's the stigma they have to overcome, and why they are scared to invest larger sums of money for game budgets. Even the newest big one, that was also banking on nostalgia, was Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated, and that one had extremely middle of the road scores, and as of now has barely sold over a couple million copies, which is really bad for a company with enough money to make a game that could sell huge. Even the advertising was minimal, they're scared to invest more money into (in their eyes) an unproven product.
There are unused characters that they were planned in the game: Rocksteady, Shredder and Garfield. Hell, there's going to be a stage for the latter! Not sure why they got cut, but i guess is budget issues.
I'd be more interested in this game if the roster was better. I'd like to see Jenny, Dib, Snap or Rudy, Rocko, Cosmo and Wanda, and more in there. Jenny is very easy to see as a fighter. I can imagine Dib using the weapons or tech he's used in the cartoon and comics, or even casting spells with Spell Drives. I will admit I can't really see how Snap can fight in a matter that would make him stand out, but it is easy to imagine Rudy drawing weapons or tools. Cosmo and Wanda can be the game's Ice Climbers. Like Snap I have a bit of difficulty thinking of a creative moveset for Rocko and it doesn't help that I haven't watched the cartoon in years, but I'm sure more creative folks can come up with something! It's the same reason I was disappointed with the Playstation All-Stars and couldn't get invested in it. Where were Spyro, Crash, Gex, and Ray-man??? Finishers would be great too! The Avatars could go into the Avatar State, Danny could use his Ghost Howl, Zim could rain DOOM upon the battlefield!
I thjink one problem is that nickelodeon isn't as universal as many would assume, sure many of their cartoons make it around the world, but not as extensively as the cast of a major video game crossover.

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid would be another good one to cover. It's flawed but solid. The fact that they TRIED to get as many of the original cast members as possible while the show has long since moved on to sound-alikes is a big plus, and the actual fighting mechanics are a lot of fun.
EDIT: Wow, wasn't expecting Toph to do John Cena's taunt, that's pretty amazing. Though it makes me want to see a cage match between her and The Boulder.

Rocko is the most surprising omission for sure, Rocko's Modern Life was the first new Nicktoon to be added after the og 3, it got a movie, there's still tons of merch being sold in stores next to all the Spongebob and Rugrats throwback merch. Hopefully he or another character will show up in DLC.

I think once the game feels more polished and online is sorted, they defiantly add those in the future. Apparently it has been selling quite well according to sources on the sub reddit.

This game was made with competitive play in mind, which is why I feel like a lot of decisions, like the character choices featuring older and much more popular with the older crowd rather than newer shows or things that younger kids would like. No items despite many stages in the game not being legal, so that takes some of the fun out for causals. I don't really wanna blame the devs for that, they were simply given what to do and so they had to do it in there own way, but this is for people that want to play competitive, and not everyone wants to play that way, which is probably why you didn't like how controlling it felt, how the lack of certain things felt off-putting. With smash, you can play it how you want to, in Nick, you play competitively or in a very limited casual setting
also Nintendo spit on the competitive side of Smash now by C&D events, not bring Rollback Netcode and the worst of all cancel Melee and the devs only want them to bring back to those glory days because of that the devs had the respect of many competitive Smash players and the game is gonna have a bright future i mean look at Power Rangers Battle for The Grid

I think we're about to enter a golden age for platform fighters in general, so many have started to show up more frequently than ever before. Two of the more notable ones that come to mind outside of Nick All Star is Fraymakers a platform fighter starring Indie game characters and Multiversus which is all about Warner Bros characters. There's even a sequel to Rivals of Aether coming along.
Oh and as a side note, I think the correct pronunciation for Ludosity is "loo-dos-ity".

As someone who has been playing smash my whole life and has played almost every other platform fighter there is i can say with 100% confidence that nick all star brawl is on of the most fun platform fighters and has a lot of depth in the gameplay. with the amount of content already promised that only was cut due to time restraints there is a lot to look forward to like garfield and shredder. Also the missing jimmy and timmy is likely due to the frederator rights issues.

@@assburgers2432 I think Azula can be balanced by making her lighting more like Kazuya’s Devil Blaster, giving her a poor fire rate to compensate for the power and knockback. Then her firebending can be more of a continuous stream like Bowser and Charizard’s fire breath, but with more range. She’s also fairly short and thin, so she’d probably be fairly light. At least, that’s how I imagine her being.

The developers have been very open in communicating with fans about the development process. They are well aware of the importance of music and voice acting for a game like this and they pushed hard to try to get them in, but unfortunately the limited budget and deadlines they were saddled with by the publisher meant they didn't have the time or resources to get the licensing worked out. They had to choose between making sure the game looked and played as good as possible, or trying to lock in voice actors and hunt down the rights holders for the original music. The devs have said that if the game does well enough, adding voices is something they would definitely try to pursue.

One of the most important things about a fighting game is the music, not to mention that’s also one of the most important things about a cartoon as well. You may not realize it but those background Spongebob songs are ingrained in you mind, because hey we’re used appropriately.
Items I feel are the one thing we can all agree actually could have a place in this game, and the lack of them just makes it feel subpar. The premise of whacky cartoon characters beating the snot out of each other is too strong a premise not to have items day one. Hopefully they can add them in the future.
There is a sequel now with much more promise.
Aang is the avatar but all his attacks are hits with the staff. And he never even uses the staff to fight in the cartoon

I've followed this channel for a bit and this is the first time I saw Saberspark on this channel lol.
I don't have this game but it does make it sound like they're catering towards competitive/pro players. I'm just a casual Smash player and I just care about the roster and the tons of single player content and modes. I don't think this game would hold my attention for long.
There was an actual war between Smash fans and Nick All-Star Brawl fans prior to the game's release because of how the latter has rollback netcode and wavedashing, making it a better competitive game than the former. It's gotten to a point where some competitive Smash players encouraged their followers to boycott the game and play Nick All-Star Brawl instead to punish Nintendo neglecting their needs and demands for competitive play. The drama did turned off some gamers from trying out Nick All-Star Brawl because of the toxic fanbase it was gaining.
That new 64 bit Saberspark looks like it would feel right at home in Megaman Legends. It's amazing.

I think the mistake that people are doing is comparing it to Smash Ultimate. It was stated (I think) that it was inspired by Smash Melee and the competitive side of Smash in general. That would explain why there are no items or "Final Smash" since the competitive side doesn't use it. But it could have been a budget issue, etc, but hopefully, this game gets support in the future.

Two game series I think Saber would enjoy not only playwise and irl storywise would be the Bookworm Adventures series and the Fossil Fighters series. Cancellations and corporate drama are things I think Saber excels at talking about and these games are not only fun but also something he'd be able to get into from a corporate lore standpoint
They add sound effects and voice clips and music and a few nickolden inspired game modes and achievements and boom they game is perfect and add ever single nickolden cartoon since the 90s to know reps if that cartoon wise

I'm just at a loss for who this game was supposed to be designed for. Stripping the whole thing to little more than its fighting mechanics suggests they want this to be a seriously taken fighter, but what motivation is there to start playing this over itemless, hazardless Smash? It's like that failure Icons just with actual copywritten characters. If it's for a younger demographic like the choice of IP suggests, why is it so light on the wackier aspects from party modes to items to voices and so caught up in the aforementioned mechanics stuff? Who would WANT a Nickelodeon game of all things to be taking itself this seriously as a fighter? I know there are plenty of people who treat Smash as an ultra serious competitive fighter, but every bit as much, if not more, of the playerbase has items on and just plays it bum around with their pals. The whole damned thing just seems so confused.

Many of the things you said were missing, Ludosity is already aware of and wanted as well, but they funneled the tiny budget into making sure the game plays well, first and foremost. They also said they'd like to add a lot more through updates if the game does well and sells, which would give them a higher budget to work with. The things they said they'd like to add, include voice acting, new stages, stage alts, new DLC characters, and more.

@@TheSoCalledZoner1 To be fair, Nickelodeon hasn't had the "best" track record for games based on their properties. Viacom doesn't know who Ludosity is, or their pedigree, so to them, it's a risky investment if they allowed Nickelodeon to give them a higher budget. But it was actually more likely it was Nickelodeon themselves that gave the budgetary restrictions, rather than Viacom, but the reasoning is likely the same. With such a shaky history with game quality and return investment with sales, it would make sense that they'd be more trepidatious. That's why we need to buy the game, at full price, to not only help give Ludosity a higher budget, but to also help Nickelodeon sit up and take notice. Money speaks louder than words, and people saying "the game doesn't look finished and lacks stuff, I'll pass" won't help Nickelodeon give higher budgets, it will just reinforce their idea that games are a poor investment for them, which is objectively untrue if they handle the involved studios correctly.

Battle for Bikini Bottom was one that a lot of people enjoyed too, but a couple decent games out of the dozens they've made, doesn't mean they haven't had a rough history in games. Almost all their games were about on the same level as shovelware, and were really not that good. From their cart racers, fighting games, platformers, and more. Most of them have either been bad, or low quality, and usually end up in the bargain bin after release. That's the stigma they have to overcome, and why they are scared to invest larger sums of money for game budgets. Even the newest big one, that was also banking on nostalgia, was Battle for Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated, and that one had extremely middle of the road scores, and as of now has barely sold over a couple million copies, which is really bad for a company with enough money to make a game that could sell huge. Even the advertising was minimal, they're scared to invest more money into (in their eyes) an unproven product.
There are unused characters that they were planned in the game: Rocksteady, Shredder and Garfield. Hell, there's going to be a stage for the latter! Not sure why they got cut, but i guess is budget issues.
Let me remind you that Viacom bought the Garfield IP a few years back, so that makes him a second party im some ways.

I'd be more interested in this game if the roster was better. I'd like to see Jenny, Dib, Snap or Rudy, Rocko, Cosmo and Wanda, and more in there. Jenny is very easy to see as a fighter. I can imagine Dib using the weapons or tech he's used in the cartoon and comics, or even casting spells with Spell Drives. I will admit I can't really see how Snap can fight in a matter that would make him stand out, but it is easy to imagine Rudy drawing weapons or tools. Cosmo and Wanda can be the game's Ice Climbers. Like Snap I have a bit of difficulty thinking of a creative moveset for Rocko and it doesn't help that I haven't watched the cartoon in years, but I'm sure more creative folks can come up with something! It's the same reason I was disappointed with the Playstation All-Stars and couldn't get invested in it. Where were Spyro, Crash, Gex, and Ray-man???
Finishers would be great too! The Avatars could go into the Avatar State, Danny could use his Ghost Howl, Zim could rain DOOM upon the battlefield!
