The FMF has already said they don't want their clubs in the Lib/Sud because it's too far. We all would love to see Liga MX clubs in South American tournaments. But it's the FMF's decision.
@RicksPech no source just BS nobody wants the MLS. The last couple of years with the Brazilian league dominating the Libertadores..many fans are asking to bring back Liga MZ teams. Nobody fucking cares about the MLS....and the logistics to fly to S. America and the states is insane...MLS is a lot closer to The Uefa champions league tournament
tbh it was great for San Luis with the break, whenever the season got back underway they would always look like the best team and would be on top of the Table.
The only reason fans boycotted the Leagues Cup is because the lack of participation of MLS teams in the Open Cup. The previous year the Leagues Cup was a success even Fútbol Americas admitted. How is the Apple deal bad for MLS? The main reason myself and I suspect many other fans couldn’t follow their teams was because the games were all over the place and lost interest. Subscribing to cable is just too expensive nowadays. Having all the games available in Apple allows fans to actually follow their teams and be more invested. Yeah it was $79 but for the whole season. Financially makes more sense than subscribing to cable and adding packages to watch the games. Love Sebi but this is biased take
Not to mention the deal really isn’t a lot of money. 2.5 billion sounds like a lot if money but it’s 2.5 billion total over 10 years. So 255 million per season. Take that number and split it by now 30 which is 8.5 million per club and that’s before production and other costs. Plus the Apple deal, going through a paywall just to watch it and it costs more than other services. Why pay a premium price for a subpar product at best? The Apple deal is like the phrase, if a tree falls in a forest, but no one hears it, did it make a sound?
@@JuanSanchez-jc1zm I guess for someone like me, it has allowed me to watch games where before I had no chance. I live off grid in Montana and the only tv I get is from starling satellite internet. The apple deal has opened viewership for myself where before it was not going to happen.
One of the main reasons I believe this shift on the tournament is due to the FIFA Club WC which will take place around the same time that Leagues Cup would take place. These people managing poorly the MLS and Liga MX are stubborn. They would still be trying to shove down our throats the Leagues Cup. Midweek games are a joke and less fan will be attending this games.
Leagues cup should be after both leagues have ended to suit both leagues, have games in Mexico, include Liga de expansion to even out the teams, and have no more ties or penalty shootouts for a 2 point tie breaker.
Having the Mexican fans drop by CityPARK at least once a year is pretty cool. Really, this is all about reaching out to to exactly one demographic: Mexican-Americans. MLS wants to get their eyeballs on their product so they have a shot at selling it to them, and are hoping that some Liga MX fans leave MLS stadia thinking they might go to another game. Meanwhile Liga MX is in the unfortunate position of having their most lucrative fans (Mexican-Americans have more disposable income than Mexicans) live in places where they can't see local games and might have their fandom lapse the longer that goes on. They want to make money from these fans by playing a few matches in a competition that matters across the border. These are all pretty good reasons to want a competition like League's Cup to exist, and if it fails I think it will be a bad thing for the league as a whole.
No one cares about the leagues cup. Mexican fans want Copa Libertadores/Sudamericana. American fans want US Open Cup and Concacaf Champions Cup. Here’s a fun idea 💡 Add the winner of the apertura and clausura to Libertadores plus the winner and runner up of Concacaf Champions Cup. This would add so much intrigue to competitions that we already have 🔥🔥🔥 Additionally, Mexico needs promotion and relegation for people to value the regular season. If you do this, fans would be SUPER excited and engaged
How would u think us/mx clubs will handle the groupstage. 3 games travelling to south america mid week imagine traveling from ny to buenos aires and back for the weekend. Thats alot of travel
The majority of your teams can’t beat salary cap MLS teams. South America know LigaMX is trash. The only reason they allowed you to play was because of all the money sponsors lol
All liga mx teams should just use their under-21 and U-18 for this and if they say something about playing a strong team just leave. Leagues cup is such a joke
This is MLS fault. We don’t need LigaMx to grow the league. Increase the salary instead because these Mexican clubs are not going to take the tournament seriously now. We are going to see them with garbage clubs like Superliga lol
@@armandobroncas4276 ROTFL. The clubs are paid millions because the gate in the US is much larger. This is a made up tournament that only exists to make money. If it didn't, it wouldn't happen
5:27 Liga MX is turning into the NBA, no one cares about the regular season, only the big tier games and playoffs (liguilla).
Can liga MX dump this tournament and go back to Libertadores and Sudamericana.
Mexican teams blow nowadays. No south American wants to see mx .. if anything, they want MLS teams in libertadores. Mx is done
No way they want Minnesota United over Cruz azul

There is no reason why if they are going to make this tournament that they can't play at the Mexican clubs.
No more leagues cup pls
How about NO Leagues Cup at all
Nice schedule makes way for viewers to watch more

Yeah, because at the end of whatever they were crying about. They started talking about the la liga😂.
No, it's because fans aren't complete fools (still fools...) and see it as the nonsensical money grab that it is.
Need to run away from the apple deal and go more to a network like nbc or fox
why is the apple deal bad?
@ to me when I ask casual soccer fans in my community no one sees games.

I think ESPN is mad because they don't have the rights for any of these games. Some of these league cups games are amazing.
Leagues cup should convince Brazilian and Argentina teams to join. Now that would be a tournament.
