    I value your opinion, however @4:28 complaining it ‘should have been a touch screen because taking your hand completely off the handlebars to control the jog-dial isn’t safe’ is rather confusing because your hand will be coming off to use a touchscreen just the same.

      Doesn’t matter where the positioning of the controls for the gauge are, anytime you take your eyes off the trail to look at a gauge is deadly. If you ask me you should set up your gauge before you start riding to however you want it and then don’t even touch in while riding. If you don’t like the way something is, wait til the next stop sign or road crossing to change it.

      I did react to that too but the Polaris has controls on the handlebars which changed my mind.

      @@nsa6790 I agree brother but this is a Polaris channel anyway if you ask me. But there is no need to play with your gauges while riding. If you did it in a car it’s distractive driving and your fined.

      I will admit I didn't comment properly at that time, I meant to reference the fact that Polaris offers hand controls not the the touch screen there but at the end I figured I wouldn't go back and reshoot the whole thing, you absolutely correct through, I goofed up there. My apologies ~AJ

      @@dirttraxtv Just checked the app and you are in fact correct. It covers most of Canada but unfortunately those in Ontario seem to be out of luck. Since it’s only been out for like a month I suspect that it will get better with age such as Polaris ride commands app did. Happy riding this year?

      @@nsa6790 I did get a recent e-mail from the OFSC that says they didn't come to an agreement for this season so I guess this year it won't be supported in Ontario but hopefully next year and beyond. It's unfortunate for buyers of the gauge to not get support in certain areas, I mean apple maps are ok but not for sleds. Id take even slightly outdated maps over just road maps. ~AJ

      @nsa6790 3 роки тому

      @@dirttraxtv There are many holes too in trails from where I ride(northern Wisconsin and the UP) since I believe BRP was pulling info only from trail associations and clubs. It sucks that those in Ontario can’t have access to the actual trails only the road maps. Like I said before hopefully with age the maps only get better, and if they don’t well I’ll just use Polaris ride command or my memory from many years of riding!

    A word of caution to those who may be using Ride Command and BRP Go in Ontario this year. I have worked with Ride Command in the past. Polaris has a version of the OFSC Base Map that is roughly 20 years old and is relying on local "trail managers" to update it. I know that in Sudbury there are trails listed that haven't been used in a decade, and riders could be surprised to wind up on an unhappy landowner's lawn, or some kind of hazard. Hopefully BRP GO and Ride Command can reach terms with the OFSC to include up to date data in the future, but that hasn't happened yet. The only official source of trail data right now in Ontario are the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide or a current version of Track Maps.

      They aren't the latest for sure on the Polaris gauge however we have had great success using the Polaris version both this generation and the last with the maps provided. Perfect, no, but very good from what we have experienced. Should be noted the Polaris maps are way outdated. They definitely have the better system, but don't give too much credit. In some areas trails that have been closed for 20 years still show up. I'm curious if either gauge when paired to a phone will show the various federations mapping apps. If so this would be much better than the OEM's trying to re-create systems the provincial and state organizations have already created and that they actually maintain as trail changes occur.

      I guess an apple car play type gauge could be pretty cool if it would accurately play your apps. Right now the Polaris maps are really good for the areas in Canada and the USA where we have used them. Sure sometimes we see a trail closed but never been stranded because of it. I do agree it would be best to get Federation/State maps for all these gauges but right now I'll take a slight outdated map over road maps that really aren't helpful at all ~AJ

      Well, once they finish licking their wounds and stop crying, they may have to ask Polaris for design assistance and pay for copyright infringe. Which means a very similar gauge system will be available on a skidoo. But Skidoo will have to charge more to make up for previous losses in sales. Either way...skidoo is being buried by this mistake. It's embarrassing.

    The map function on the Polaris, and the ability to see where your buddies are at, is pretty cool. I've used the Polaris Ride Command cell phone app and it's pretty awesome. No more paper trail maps or lost riders.
    All of the other functionality described on either sled's screen has about zero value. If you're playing with your screen, listening to music, or taking phone calls while out riding you're missing the point.

    I like the new technology. But, Ski-doo miss the boat here. Polaris is way ahead on this category, especially for a large screen for trail maps. My thought is, does Polaris take a SD Micro card so I can add local as well as state trails? I'm currently upgrading my Garmin to a Zumo set up so I will have all local trails, State plus roadway information. A very bright screen for direct sunlight. I like the old school gauges and they will be missed over the years. As pretty as a LCD screen may be, when I am riding, I am not admiring it. I just glance. My current 800 GSX, do to my age, I have to pull over to look at the current screen to see what changes I am making. SO when I can make changes via a knob or on the handle bars its not a deal breaker for me at all. Plus why would you be focusing on a screen making changes and riding at the same time. That's is the same thing as texting and driving but worse. A tree will always win in a collision.

      On the Polaris 7S, you can load in your own GPX tracks from a USB drive, or you can use the Ride Command website and upload them. You can then log into your account right on the 7S display and sync them down.

    I’m definitely not anti-Polaris; however, I have been loyal to SkiDoo. I don’t buy sleds for gages, and the minimalist gage on my 2019 FreeRide suits the purpose just fine. I like the redundancy of a gage, cellphone, and Garmin Montana.
    That being said, the new Doo gage is a fail compared with Polaris’ in my opinion. I don’t care for the wide format, dependency on the phone, and clunky functionality. I think that while Skidoo’s overall offering is fantastic, Polaris is doing a great job at listening to what their customers want.
