I'd like to share something about this song. Our church was invited to have a 1 hour service in a penitentiary in Missouri. I play piano. I believe they aloud 12 of us to come for church service. After being searched, we were told to walk in a line not to look to the left or right. The men were wistling, making noise filthy commets. The ladies were told if they wore dresses they were to be to their knee. We were led to the chapel. We are Missionary Baptist faith by the way. Services began I went to the piano and we had sang a few songs then one of the inmates walked straight towards me he said he felt led to sing the song Precious Lord and the officer blew his whistle told him he would go in the hole if he did so. Our preacher said this man is only following what God has led him to do. Please don't do that. He said very well. I said what key do you sing it in? He said man I don't no. I said then take off I'll find ya and be right behind ya. For I play by ear but I do know keys. Folks this man got to singin I found where he was singing.. that man's voice went up and heaven came down. The spirit of the Lord broke out like chicken pox. lol Different ones got to shoutin ,hands up and one man came to the mourners bench to pray and our church folks right behind the preacher preached up one isle and down the other calling for those to seek the Lord..he reminded in the alter the entire time crying clinching his hands. Different ones told him it didn't matter what he had done God can forgive.Just open his hearts door and let him come in. The man looked up and said how can I expect God to forgive me when I can't forgive myself. Someone said that's because you are you and God is God. We told him he didn't have to be in church to get forgiveness if he went back to his cell. He could get forgiveness just cry out to him ask him to save ya..and Jesus would come into his heart. I wonder to this day if that man was saved. But thank God the man followed his heart and sang this beautiful song in the spirit. I never forget that day as long as I live. Thank you for posting this song. I love everyone because he first loved me. Be strong stay encouraged look up!! Lol were almost home. Thank God.
I sang this song to my Granddaughter yesterday in a Hospital bed just before the Lord took her Home. Just a few verses. This rendition is absolutely beautiful ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
