I can’t speak for the Xbox series S, but I do know people who are using that to carry around their steam deck. Apparently it fits the steam deck carrying case perfectly, and still has room on the side pockets for peripherals.
I use mine for my steam deck, fits the deck (inside a flip cover case), baseus blade battery pack, small onn brand dock, fixed blade knife, anbernic rg280v, psp go, an ssd enclosure, my wallet, a bunch of tiny little good luck charm figures and 5 or 6 different usb cables all at the same time.

Wise choice. I don't feel safe traveling with my series x. The series s is way more portable.
