Dez….Welcome to the club! Happy 70th birthday. I am 72 now and I have to say, there are definitely some changes in my hair, my skin, etc., but I am very active and I subscribe to my dad’s eating wisdom……Eat as you should 70-80 % of the time, so you can eat what you love other times. My hair is definitely thinned a bit…some lines have taken up permanent residence….gravity has visited …BUT…all in all, I feel great, stay active and have my husband, children and friends. So life at 72 is pretty damn good. While , like most women, I would love to have some of my 40’s back, I am so much more comfortable in who I am, and what I do and do not give a damn about anymore. My gratitude for life is greater than at any other time, and I hope to be blessed to add many more candles to my birthday cake. Cheers to you and thanks for how wonderfully and honestly you represent ladies of our age.🍷❤

Happy Birthday Dez! Great video. I am also a September girl and turned 62 on the 17th. Although I see the signs of aging coming am feeling so grateful to be here and in good health. My mommy never got to this age, she died at 53 of lung cancer. She was also a smoker and social drinker as were so many of her generation. As a result, my sisters and I have lived a different way, none of us smoke or drink, and we live a much more healthy lifestyle. As for makeup, I find I like less actual foundation, just a touch of concealer and powder. But I am wearing more eyeliner. Think I look more youthful with it, which is a change for me! Not a red lip girl but rocked it in the 80's! Like you I think it ages me. These days it is a slightly brighter pink or plummy lipcolor. Cheers Dez, I hope you enjoy your special day. Hi, Dez--Happy 70th! That eyeshadow and lipstick look gorgeous on you! We share a similar background--my mother smoked two packs a day and also was a heavy drinker and died at 56. Like you, I decided to adopt a healthy lifestyle and also feel so fortunate to have made it into my mid 70s. Loved your analogy of the rolodex--I can so relate! Hope you have a wonderful trip. By the way, I love the Sweed product and their mascaras are wonderful.

Totally agree now in 73 year I find bright red lips very harsh.warmer brown/ pink looks so much softer but still lift your colour ,

I’ll be 74 years old on 29/9, I think we may share the same date but different year 😊. My mother died at the age 75 which is way too young. I must say life is good in your 70s. Wishing you a very happy birthday.

I've noticed that recently I've been using less makeup. More neutral eyes and bb cream instead of foundation. I still use a colourful lipstick but not red or bright pink . Happy birthday Dez ❤

If you put an eye lightener in the grooves from nose to lip and pat it in before applying foundation etc. you will essentially be disguising those grooves.

I'm also 73 and can't wear much makeup because of very sensitive skin. I wish I could wear mascara on my very pale lashes but I've tried loads and none have worked. I do think mature ladies look better with minimal makeup 💄

It’s so refreshing to see a makeup tutorial that actually starts with NO makeup. I will ask though have you had upper eyelid surgery? There’s an acre of skin there to apply eyeshadow! I’m 61 and look older because of slightly hooded eyes.

Wishing you a very happy birthday Dez! Loved this makeup look - so pretty and fresh, and you have a lovely eye shape with or without eyeliner! I may try that eyeshadow too - only my eyes are a bit hooded now so getting it right is tricky. Eyeliners I love though! Wondered if you've ever thought of trying a green eyeliner pencil? Having brown eyes myself I used to always go with darker eyeliner, but lately have been experimenting with a bit of green. I'm 65 so not anything bright😂 but I found a Dr Hauska soft green which is almost neutral and use along with a Taupe pencil by the same make, just enough to give definition, and I find that bit of green brightens my brown eyes a bit. I occasionally add a bit of MAC's 'Minted' if I want to play up the green for evening. Enjoy Suffolk! Love that coast especially this time of year.❤🌹🥂🐚🍂

Happy birthday. Hope your special birthday was wonderful! The brief clip of your red lip look looked nice, not old but as someone older than you, I am careful with darker lips and minimal makeup. I only have one look like that I've repeated. I use a very subtle blush, no bronzer, a bit of highlighter, a subtle eye and a gorgeous shade from Givenchy called Rouge Erable which is a brown toned warm red sheer matte that miraculously isn't drying. Being Givenchy, it probably unfortunately has fragrance. I find this look only works if I'm wearing a high necked black sweater, ie: jumper.

Happy Birthday Dez! i have to say I love the minimalist look on you. Very youthful looking. I disagree with you though about the red lipstick, I think it looked fabulous. Your have very nice looking full lips, its one of your best features. I think you need to flaunt that!

Love the minimalist look Des..it is much more youthful than the black eyeliner. Might I respectfully suggest that you would be better suited to a lipstick with a brown/orange undertone rather than the "blue" undertone you are wearing. I think that is why you didn't like yourself in the makeup you did yesterday. I would only wear the blue undertone red if you are wearing a pink/burgundy/plum type colour in your clothing. In the beautiful photo of you at your graduation you are wearing a brown red lip and it looks gorgeous on you. Happy Birthday..I always say we are lucky to age as some people didn't get the chance to do that and the only way to live a long life is to age.

Happy Birthday, Dez! I'm sort of thinking that, if I manage to stay vertical, next year will be a tough one (75). Ugh! I still feel so very young, in my head. Your makeup ALWAYS looks fabulous at the finish. Loving the eyeshadow, blush and lipstick...the shades suit you SO well. I'm forgetting if you mentioned it, but, did you have "your colors" done? Yes I did have my colours done last year, and I'm a Winter Deep so red does suit me, but I think I need to soften the red a bit - I'll keep trying.

Thanks! It's from my nail salon, they use dipping powder so I'm afraid I don't know the brand - I'll try to find out when I next go as I keep forgetting! It's not one of the well know ones, like CND.
