Goku turning SSJ for the first time is hands down the most legendary awakening. Even people who don't watch anime can recognize Goku's first form.

I feel like Gohan going level 2 at his age before anyone else even Goku was more iconic really. You saw Gohan be powerful even as a toddler when he headbutted Raditz and broke his armor when Goku and Piccolo was having trouble with him. Gohan goes Super Saiyan Level 2 and literally forces Cell to self destruct trying to take them all out before Goku Instant Transmissioned him to King Kai's place. That to me proved that Gohan was the strongest of them all at that moment.

Luffy transformation was good but not at all legendary it was just all the hype
I was hoping to see Rimuru's demon lord awakening because that whole episode gives chills. First Megiddo + Merciless then the Sacred Art of Resurrection. Merciless was so badass, instantly killed and plucked out soldiers' souls. Not even mentioning Great Sage tring thosands of times to evolve itself just for its master.

The creativity on display in JJBA doesn't get the recognition it deserves. You can tell a lot of thought went into the concept of stands, talk less of the abilities of each and the limitations which were so well hidden, the protagonists literally had to put their lives on the line to figure them out, or take advantage of them to secure the W in each of their respective battles
What do you mean it didn't get recognition it deserves? That shit made people go batshit crazy back then. Even before it got animated, JoJo fans have been worshipping the manga panel as the most fabulous transformation in human history. Countless of memes and references have been made when it comes to GER.

Ultra instinct and Gear 5 belong at the top for sure. Ichigo attaining his new form in blood war should be here too but next season will show more fr. Some classic awakenings might still be better than the beginning part of the list but definitely agree with top 10

How is ss1 not at the number one spot its literally the most iconic anime transformation of all time 😂 even UI goku did more than g5 luffy. It got so big PEOPLE OUTSIDE ANIME community knew about it and even doing Ui trend/videos of it. I love op and he gotten close but luffy not on Gokus level 😭🙏🏼
Upon seeing this, I Automatically thought Dragonball Z with Goku going Super Sayian for the first time and Gohan going Super Sayian 2, DBS wasn't even on my thought processes as its pretty weak in terms of overall story and while it was pretty transformation, it didn't feel truly earned compared to what came before, Goku was struggling against Freeza while Gohan was fighting against his very nature and seeing No16, die, he just snapped and unleashed his full power and potential
The 2 reasons why KnY (Demon Slayer) hits hard: Animation + it's 'normal' humans fighting superhuman and insta-kill entities with (mostly) only swords.
Most best-regarded anime are people with supernatural powers, which we can all admit we've craved having, but KnY is just people with swords which is a different kind of feast for the eyes.

Agreed. Though Ultra Instinct is visually cooler, nothing can top the first Super Saiyan transformation in the Frieza Saga-it’s the combination of the villain, the losses and protagonist power up that separate it from awakening Ultra Instinct.

This is a let-down of a list lmfao. A first from these guys tbf. Vasto Lorde Ichigo and Goku's first SSJ transformation are two of the most iconic awakenings in anime history. Goku's first SSJ3 is also arguably very iconic and better than most awakenings here. Vegeta's SSJ Blue Evolution is the pinnacle of character development. Gohan SSJ2 is also super awesome. Honestly, Dragonball sweeps hype power-up scenes across all anime. Even Fairy Tail has some amazing ones, like Natsu's Dragon Force vs Jellal.
I must confess I hate db downplay. Ultra instinct broke the crunchyroll servers twice ep 109 and ep 130 and for ep 130 there were literally watch events all over the world with some having over 10,000 people in attendance. Ultra instinct broke the internet far more than gear 5 did. If you’re gonna use that term for Luffy it’s criminal not to say the same for dbs when it did a much better job doing the same thing.
