Thanks for sharing. I like how you give some history on groups. I am doing my first practicum in a state jail facility. I don’t think there is a wrong way to do a group, if it’s therapeutic, it works. Different people, different personalities, all (mostly) have beneficial topics to bring to the table.
I thank you so much for your video on this subject. It has been very useful to me because I’ve accepted a position in this field and I need all the expertise I can receive.
Everybody is a expert at explaining the dynamics of groups but cant actually demonstrate a real experience.. ..we're clients are actually sharing and on topic
Thanks for the comment, Frank. Agreed, easier explained than demonstrated. This is why in the AODS program at City College we spend 16 weeks of in-person, clinical training scenario demonstration. Students experience both being a facilitator and "participant" so they are fully trained and prepared to facilitate groups in substance use disorder treatment programs.

I wish we had this in Maryland. I’m doing my second group counseling session today, thank you for sharing this video!
Thank you for sharing this lecture with us! I’m an SCWK/CDAR student and learning about group. This is helpful to me.

The alcohol in the background is a trigger for me. ;)
In my fantasy library? Yes, if I had Photoshop skills I would erase that out. ;) Thanks for watching!
