Kenshi Yonezu heard the phrase "I don't care if it's broken" at a call to a junkyard. He felt a sense of kindness in the phrase "accept it even if it is broken. because we, humanbeing sometimes break in our heart.
His lyrics were definitely what got me into his stuff, even back in 2010, when he was still a producer using Vocaloid. I always knew he'd be big, not just for his style, but for the way that, even with his silly and more light-hearted songs, his words cut straight to the heart. Thanks for the reaction! It was awesome to see someone connect to him in a way like I did :D!

My other two favorites are Are to Kore to Onna no Ko and Shutter Doll. wowaka was such an extraordinary mind.
Even leaving aside we can comfortably call him one of Japan's greatests of all time with his characteristic musical sensibilities and lyrical sophistication, he's still the best artist to come out of the vocal synth scene, for sure. I know someone who I refuse to mention by name once called himself Yonezu's rival purely based on popularity but there's really no point of comparison, and this person would've never become popular if not for his vocalist so he should just sit down and be humble. I mean, there was the one-of-a-kind wowaka (leader of hitorie), Yonezu's one and only rival and dearly beloved friend, but he sadly passed away. There's also Kikuo, but he still makes music sung by vsynths for the most part. All his stuff is phenomenal though. FurukawaP AKA Fullkawa Honpo made some truly incredible stuff in the past, with or without vsynths involved, but even after his comeback he hasn't been very active...
Another awesome song from Kenshi!!! He is my favorite. I live in California and just fell in love with him and his music.
