Once, I was singing this and accidentally said “Baby I’m a different breed” instead of “Buddy I’m a different breed” and spent a full minute thinking about the implications of what I said

I love how each character sinks into their previous songs, although I wonder how DMA feels hearing the “doesn’t even matter if I killed my best friend” part Curt sings.

"To show you the horror of being alive" sums it up

It's almost like Hamilton, where in Non-Stop the themes of each character get mixed to form a 5 or 6-part harmony.

@@Phiwipuss Yes although this came before Hamilton, I think both are inspired by Sondheim, since he's the one who really codified the theme-merging that you can see here

Going back and watching the musical a second time, I came to appreciate Joe Walkers performance a lot more knowing the context of the end. He really is a great actor.

y’all oml. i’ve been listening to this on repeat and i just noticed something; if you listen really closely at the end after curt says “owen?” you can hear the sound of my heart shattering into a million pieces :’)

This whole thing is raw as hell. A lot of excellent acting moments. The way that Curt falls to the floor at 3:28 when Tatiana unties him - it's visceral. Like obvi we know that these are actors on a stage and nobody is actually getting hurt, but those little details make it seem so real

  • @alyssajohnson3772

//spoilers (although if you're here I'm guessing you know the show)
I've been thinking about this scene in relation to the first scene of the show. In both Curt is being tortured by Owen in disguise as someone else, but the acting is so different. At the beginning, he's "cool and collected", possibly partly related to knowing Owen is with him on the mission (and potentially he even knows that owen is the one in the scene - depends on if he's telling the truth when he said he knew it was him right away), but here he's anything but. Even before anything physical happens, he's already kinda falling apart - and if you look at parallels, he doesn't really have anyone he can trust like he did with Owen. He was sort of maybe starting to trust Tatiana, but then she betrayed him.
idk, just admiring Curt's acting and overthinking it

What is the genre of this song called and how do I find more of it? - Multiple various melodies introduced separately and then culminating in a harmonic mash up all the while the melodies are vocal intensive and sung naturally, without tuning. This is literal gold and I can't seem to find anything similar anywhere
