Thanks for setting the record straight. The graffiti first started showing up around 2017. It targeted us at first, then Boxy and later others. The individual doing this apparently knows no bounds, defacing historic signs, structures, private property and mines. We have an album of his handiwork and it's disturbing to say the least.
That makes total sense about the denim hunter. Boxy mentioned in a video how much he hated people defacing mines with spray paint. It never made sense to me to see all the Boxy graffiti. Thanks for clarifying. I like his explores too.
I don't know about the spray paint, but we busted him and his people breaking into several active/standby mines in New Mexico and stealing tools. I have security camera photos and video screenshots proving it. Two of them were arrested by NMSP afterwards.
@@GeneMcGrath I don't know if any of them are denim hunters. They weren't going to find any where they broke in - those mines were active as little as three years ago and are on care and maintenance for restart. The two guys from California and Phoenix were the ones arrested, I believe one is a commercial pilot and the other is an air traffic controller. In hindsight, we should have forwarded the police report to the FAA. I wasn't present for their arrest but heard it was pretty funny since one of their videos was shown to them while they were cuffed on the side of I-10!
Thanks, Gly. That's a fun area to explore. Julie took the chain ladder down. It sucks. It flattens out some then goes vertical again at a small level. There is more cornhole type graffiti down there and another short ladder that goes down that she didn’t take. The video is titled 'Nevada Gold Mine -Julie Takes On A Chain Ladder In A Vertical Shaft'
“Gly”: Hey guys, thank you very much! I will definitely look at your video. I’ll be going back to that area next spring to do some follow up explores of a few shafts I filmed in the area. Stay safe out there and keep up the good work!

“Gly”: I’m happy you’re enjoying the channel and I’m happy you watched them from the beginning so you can see how the channel has progressed into what it is today.
Don't like the obnoxious graffiti, but it would be cool to throw a piece of board in each mine for people to sign with a date. Kind of like a sign in sheet. Imagine running across one another hundred years in the future and seeing all the old explorers leaving their signatures.
I used to explore the big concrete drainage pipes for water from the streets. I saw quite a bit of graffiti. By the time i got to exploring them, most had locked grates on them. The last one i went in was eventually blocked off by those grates.
@@douglasvamateurradioandmore I did too as a kid. They ran all throughout our neighborhood and if it was hot we would travel through them to get to where we were going.
Saw some youngsters in a cave. Then, at about 150 down they ran in hooks and bolts. Dang, not the first ones. Then at around 300ft. There was a plastic box, with paper signatures and information.

Aerojet General had a large mfg and test facility just to the NE of Sacramento, CA. At one time in the sixties it employed about 10,000 people IIRC, but that diminished as we moved on into the nineties. I was unaware they had a location where you found the fencing and warning sign. Early on one of their specialties was rocket engine development for our space program. You could hear the tests for miles around Sacramento as they fired a prototype attached to a test stand. One of my neighbors worked there and I found in talking that he was an electrical engineer. It turned out he designed circuitry for rockets and yearly went to White Sands for a month or so to play with toys. McDonnell-Douglas also had a facility adjoining Aerojet and one day one of their rocket motors broke free of the test stand, but that is a story for another day. Thanks for the video, that one adit was a bit scary. Loose conglomerate or agglomerate always makes me nervous.
Saturday 11 a.m. what was the troft that you flew over and also we didn't get a chance to look at the spring that you was going to show us. enjoy your video and the way that you explained things. stay safe my friend and God bless 👍👍

Gly, Love that vein and how it ran the back of the mine. another Great Saturday episode. Keep them coming as your channel is the Best and I always look forward to Saturdays and your Wednesday Shorts.
Started as a dud then went off with a bang! You camera doesn't do the mineralization justice, I could only see glimpses which told me it must have been really beautiful...Being a rockhound this only makes me drool....Great vlog Gly, thanks so much....
Gly you know I remember this 'individual' and the event your talking about. Absolutely proves there are always people trying to ruin good peoples names and thier livelihoods. Whats the silver lining is for everyone of them there are hundreds of good people to drown them out.
I finally got my question answered when you explained the fenced in flats. We can always see the light colored, flat land in the distance as you use your drone in this area. So its a playa from a lake bed that was used, as you say, as a military fly over for old ordinance practice. Thanks for thinking through the way the mill got the water from the spring area, but oh gosh! look at the distance from the water source to the "workings" (mill). Those mine operators were "driven" men. So trying your luck at the adets on the other side of the hill, then bummer, the interior of the adet was all collapsed. At 33:12, I could see the "sparkles" in the right, upper rock. The next adet was interesting what with that lower winze. Perhaps you'll bring rope just so that you can go down on that chain held ladder to see what is all down there. It sure took alot of perserverance by the mine workers to keep following that quartz vein. (lots of hauling out). But thats what hard rock mining cracks up to be....follow the mineral. Thanks for the good narration about what we/you were seeing. Another interesting "explore".
Another great episode and thank you for calling out the vandalism. One of my pet peeves with our ghost town. BTW hope bucket is doing ok. Thanks again!!
Thanks for another great video. It's a good thing you went a little bit farther around that hill, it turned out to be very interesting. I had to give it some thought to come up with an appropriate name on the last short so I submit Packey. Packey Pack Rat, it's right up there with Mickey Mouse. Disney are you listening?
I always look forward to every new video on Saturday mornings! It amazes me what miners 100+ years ago could do without modern machinery. Just curious, have you ever thought about doing a collaboration with Cerro Gordo owner Brent Underwood? I am a big fan of his too. Another UA-camr Dan Hurd did an episode with him. Keep these videos coming!
That little bit there in the beginning where your camera went a tad fuzzy had me going all crosseyed. I was checking my glasses, thought I had gunk on them or something, hahahaha.... I'm not complaining, just thought it was funny. Thought I was going nuts there for a minute, lol. Man, what a neat location. Just out in the middle of bloody nowhere. Very neat mill structure, and yeah, as you mentioned, I would guess it was reused along the way.

I'm enjoying your show. Its armchair Saturday for me. It's four hours old. And your just half way through, and your going to the second mine. Thank you, great show.
Another cool video, Gly -- thanks. This was particularly fun for me because I know exactly where you were. When I was a kid over 40 years ago, I first rode through Garfield Flats in my uncle's pickup on a shortcut from Mina back to Hawthorne, where he still lives and now I do too, having moved my family here 20 years ago. I know the spring, so maybe I'll break out my Bounty Hunter and check out that dead cottonwood one of these days. Thanks again. Stay safe.
Fly one would think that there would be written history of that mine and mill area? Yep that's history for ya, no Google! LOL I question how those miners hauled the boulders to that mill and then stack em with the vertical precision. Imply amazing. Thanks for sharing and your great drone footage. 👍👍👍
Question: is Hantavirus any kind of concern in the entrances to old mines? I saw plenty of warning signs between Bishop all the way up to the Yosemite entrance a few years back. Glad to see you set the record straight, and that Boxy Dan won't be catching any flack for something he didn't do. And whoever was doing that ought to have their crayons taken away and sat in the corner.
“Gly”: I do my best not to kick up dust but the threat of hantavirus is out there. That’s why you only see me film pack rat and mice nests but never rifle through them.
A really big thing on UA-cam is EDC (Every Day Carry). A lot of the time it’s people who carry things like a knife, a torch and a few bits of compact kit that could come in handy with day to day life etc.. The thing is, none of the people I follow do anything like the kind of things you do. I would love to learn about all of the gear you use every time you head out on an adventure, along with the prep you do, your vehicle set up and what each video requires to be made. I would be fascinated to learn about these things that combine to make the final product you create.
“Gly”: I get asked allot to produce a video like that but it goes agains my channels mission statement and can be perceived by some as promoting or endorsing abandoned mine exploration.
Hey Gly; great explore. The history on the mill site was great! Always enjoy the way you incorporate ancillary information into your explores. thanks for sharing with us. on a side note, I have watched many of Boxy's videos, I have never seen him write or defile anything. They leave funny stuff in the mines but never seen them write on anything. glad you addressed that for everyone.
Gly that was another awesome video and mine exploration! And what you point out the mineralization, bad, crumbly parts of mines , and all the miners graffiti. Keep up the awesome videos and explorations !👍🏻
Every time I see you put out those markers , the flag and that GPS whodickie I get concerned . Then I remember that if I’m seeing the video , you must have made it out or there wouldn’t be a video . DUH , to Me .🤪😂😎
Great video again today Gly , Thanks for all your travel, risks, hard work & effort that goes into making all you do to share with us Saturday morning “ Couch potatoes “ 😆😉👍. We enjoy watching every one of them . Thanks man , and as I’ve commented on previous videos , in a couple more years I’m planning to retire & move to Arizona from here in San Diego and would be more than willing to travel with ya to help document these sites if you are still actively involved. C-ya , and stay safe out there😎👍
Hi Gly , glad to be back watching another great episode. These day the world is full of goofy clowns being stupid and scrummaging , they dont give a hoot about the feelings of others . You see this every wear now and l have learnt to turn off to it .l am the president of an Historical organization in Australia . We raised the money to get our own Steam Loco J-550 a week after it was put in situ it was graffitied. awesome episode keep up the great work .Hope we can meet one day
Great drone footage as usual, the information, awesomely explained, good tutorial. It is a shame people will do that sort of stuff. Like you said, their up to no good. Thanks for bringing this to light. Love the Chipmunk mode.
Sad to see what a petty arguments can do to you such a cool looking mine. :( However, the sparkling rock that was really cool. Thank you Gly for showing us! Mahalo from Hawaii!!
Cool episode. If the vein is visible along the back of the mine maybe its also visible under the dust covering the floor? Perhaps you should take a spade/mattock and a brush with you if you go back there and try to uncover the vein in the floor as well?
hey Gly turned out into a nice video at the end. nice mine with beautiful structure and workings terrible graffiti butt good to tell about it. it is a nice way to learn about mining over here in Friesland/Netherlands I can do something like that but metaldetecting is also my hobby. thanks again and stay safe greetings Pieter
Holy crap gly your in my stomping grounds out there! Crazy to see the lake bed fenced off as that’s somewhat recent. The wild horses used to hang out there and run along passing trucks going by. Was just out there Memorial Day weekend to see the petroglyphs. Most of the mines I know of in that area are really crumbly. But short of abandoned mines in that area it is definitely not. That county that my grandparents have live in for 70+ years is packed full of so many things people will never know about. North of 95 is packed full of mines and mine camps and to the west in the wussuk range at the main route over into the next valley is a cluster of mines that really spike an interest. Just please stop and give your respects to my late brother near the old town site. If your a “lucky boy”you’ll see it.
Well, now we know how Geraldo felt😅 this is still an amazing site so much to do. It still amazes me that any of these remain without collapsing. Mother Nature can be relentless. Thanks Gly and as always stay safe✌️
Gly, we enjoy all of your knowledge and your willingness to share and educate us. Now when we come across these things, we will have a better understanding of what we are looking at. Thank you.
Thanks for explaining the graffiti thing. I’ll be careful in what I’m going to say here, but I have seen both the graffiti and the negative remarks you mentioned more than once and wondered what was going on. Now I know which end of the chip the dip is on.
Nice mineralized zones 👍. Luv seeing this and the old mill. I remember reading an article about mines starting out with very low budget and would build these types of mills with surrounding materials until they could afford better. Some people that are up to no good and try to ruin reputations usually have jealousy issues, which is part of mental illness. What is the mileage on good "Old Bob"? Must be getting up there!

Stay safe.
Happy Saturday all!!!
Great episode!! I was loving that vein structure near the end
Fly one would think that there would be written history of that mine and mill area? Yep that's history for ya, no Google! LOL I question how those miners hauled the boulders to that mill and then stack em with the vertical precision. Imply amazing. Thanks for sharing and your great drone footage. 👍👍👍
Thank you Gly for all the interesting videos and info! Have you ever encountered a snake coming in when you were on your way out?
Totally understandable. Say no more 👍
Dude, I’m kinda worried about you going into these mines alone!!!
“Gly”: I’ve been doing it for over 30 years.
Awesome adventure. Can't hardly wait til next week. Thanks for the explore. Stay safe.
Thank you Gly for all the vids. I have watched just about every one, but rarely comment. Have an awesomeness day Gly.
Thanks Gly, very Cool 👍👍👍
Gly that was another awesome video and mine exploration! And what you point out the mineralization, bad, crumbly parts of mines , and all the miners graffiti. Keep up the awesome videos and explorations !👍🏻
Very cool to see all this. This October, I’m going to look at some mines here in Arizona and do some amateur radio nearby.
Every time I see you put out those markers , the flag and that GPS whodickie I get concerned . Then I remember that if I’m seeing the video , you must have made it out or there wouldn’t be a video . DUH , to Me .🤪😂😎
Last weekend’s mine was awesome. This shaft looks awesome. Here’s to another fun weekend!!
I'm sad the old mines are going away. Keep up the great jobs you're great job. Thank you😜😁
Great video again today Gly , Thanks for all your travel, risks, hard work & effort that goes into making all you do to share with us Saturday morning “ Couch potatoes “ 😆😉👍. We enjoy watching every one of them . Thanks man , and as I’ve commented on previous videos , in a couple more years I’m planning to retire & move to Arizona from here in San Diego and would be more than willing to travel with ya to help document these sites if you are still actively involved. C-ya , and stay safe out there😎👍
“Gly”: Thanks! You’ll be meeting my new lady friend that I’ve been exploring with very soon! Stay tuned!
Lady friend who
Hi Gly , glad to be back watching another great episode. These day the world is full of goofy clowns being stupid and scrummaging , they dont give a hoot about the feelings of others . You see this every wear now and l have learnt to turn off to it .l am the president of an Historical organization in Australia . We raised the money to get our own Steam Loco J-550 a week after it was put in situ it was graffitied. awesome episode keep up the great work .Hope we can meet one day
“Gly”: These clowns will eventually get what’s coming to them in due time.
Great drone footage as usual, the information, awesomely explained, good tutorial. It is a shame people will do that sort of stuff. Like you said, their up to no good. Thanks for bringing this to light. Love the Chipmunk mode.
Always enjoy your videos. The knowledge you include is awesome, and I Really enjoy the Drone footage do, keep it up. U pocket a knife if needed?
Thanks a bunch Gly 🙏 ❤
Great adventure Gly! 🇨🇦
I’m guessing it was the guy that was featured on the Vice episode about denim hunting mines
“Gly”: Best not to name names.
“Gly”: Best not to name names.
“Gly”: Yep, there’s a good chance it’s on the floor too.
Cool intro love the old structures you can find and see using the drone.
Happy Saturday Gly. Thanks for the video!
hey Gly turned out into a nice video at the end. nice mine with beautiful structure and workings terrible graffiti butt good to tell about it. it is a nice way to learn about mining over here in Friesland/Netherlands I can do something like that but metaldetecting is also my hobby. thanks again and stay safe greetings Pieter
Hi Gly, If the last mine was the colonoscopy mine because it was long, then this one is the constipation mine because it is blocked!
Cheers Daniel.
I also love exploring the underground and I also need to get rid of excess fat, more physical activity and a good diet!
If your a “lucky boy”you’ll see it.
favorite watch of the week.👍
Well, now we know how Geraldo felt😅 this is still an amazing site so much to do. It still amazes me that any of these remain without collapsing. Mother Nature can be relentless. Thanks Gly and as always stay safe✌️
Thank you,
What a fantastic and awesome Adventure Gly! I really enjoyed this exploration. See you next weekend
Gly, we enjoy all of your knowledge and your willingness to share and educate us. Now when we come across these things, we will have a better understanding of what we are looking at. Thank you.
“Gly”: Thank you!
Very smooth cinematic shots! What is the drone model?
“Gly”: Over 1/4 million miles on the body and chassis, every else is relatively new.
Gly love watching your videos, thanks for taking us along. Have you ever had any collapses (ahead of you) while you were in a mine?
“Gly”: No, none yet and I hope I never do.
@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces agree, praying you always stay safe
Great adventure Gly! Thanks for sharing.
8:58 Looks like “Galvanizing” has been around since 79AD! …not sure when corrugated steel roofs were being made though.
Dang it, sometimes your exploring freaks the heck out of us.
We drove through that area over Xmas Hawthorn seems cool
“Gly”: It’s a cool area!
