    Glad to have found this channel! I've been a yfood adept for couple of years now but recently been looking for alternatives as their Ready to drink meals are too high in sugar (22g while daily recommended dose is 25g) but I'd like to avoid sweeteners if possible. I mainly drink them for breakfast.
    Have tested out Queal too and while their tastes are very good, they are also high in sugar... And no RTD option either.
    As for other alternatives I have just ordered Mana drinks (after watching your video 😊). I'm contemplating checking out Rootana as well but to be honest not a big fan of shaker meals as I prefer the convenience of a ready to drink meal. But I'm open to mix it up
    I have also noticed the Plenny Shake Active meal, which is also low in sugar but high in protein and fibers. Have you tested that out yet?
    Any other great recommendations perhaps?

    Both are great.. admittedly you can’t beat yfoods limited edition flavours.

    Persevered with Huel for ages but simply did not enjoy it. Tried yFood and so much nicer but now I'm reading about a really high sugar content and Maltodextrin potentially being bad for you as it messes with your gut bacteria, is that true or just internet nonsense? May switch to Rootana as looks like it competes with Huel on the quality ingredient front but might be a bit more palatable?

      Maltodextrine is often used as a filler or thickener. It's a cheaper option for manufacturers. A little bit is fine, but if it is high up in the ingredients I think not so good. Maltodextrin, used in complete nutrition drinks, is generally considered safe for most people. However, it's a simple carbohydrate and can cause spikes in blood sugar levels, so it may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with diabetes or insulin resistance. It's low in nutrients, so while not unhealthy in moderation, it doesn't contribute much to a healthy diet. As with any ingredient, its healthiness can depend on the overall dietary context and individual health conditions.

    Does yfood taste the same as the ready to drink product?

    • @CliveIllenden

      It's close. But not quite as "creamy". It depends how well you can mix it. I do mine in a nutribullet and it's pretty close to the classic drinks.

    What's wrong with fats?

    • @CliveIllenden
      @CliveIllenden  11 місяців тому

      Nothing. In fact they're very important (the right kind). But in terms of overall macronutrient balance - I prefer slightly less % of fats, over protein and carbs etc
