1️⃣ - the water at the beginning of the speech is a symbol of the destroyed Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, which caused an environmental disaster in Ukraine (type in Google)
2️⃣ Fire falling from the sky is a symbol of Russia's use of phosphorus bombs on the territory of Ukraine, which are banned throughout the world.
3️⃣ shadows of people in the background of the performers are a symbol of the people who died in the war in Ukraine.
4️⃣ the song was dedicated to all the women of Ukraine who continue to be strong during the war, help their men, support their country, and fight for independence against the occupiers.

Kudos to Tanu Muino, the most successful Ukrainian video director worldwide! She staged a performance where people could see different things that unite them, not divide them, even without understanding the lyrics. "A spring pushes its way through" lyrics are sung when we see the water on the stage. Then - a whirlpool of adult life where the most burden falls on women's shoulders. Hence the rock climb, during which, you saw the Apocalypse, but Ukrainian and Israeli people saw the flares of phosphorous munitions. Similarly, the grey silhouettes of walking people signify the ancestors for someone but the loved ones killed in the war for the others. This song is an anthem for women struggling in everyday life, especially during a war, when every woman has to be a warrior. The way out - you choose your own path to your divinity as examples of Mother Mary and St. Teresa show us, both of whom were born humans. BTW Jerry Heil is the singer, Alyona Alyona is the rapper.

Though the song references Catholic figures, Mother Teresa and Virgin Mary, the song’s actually a women’s empowerment song, about how we are in-charge of our own destiny; that we are not born saintly but can become one with our actions. The performance, however, references what is happening in Ukraine, both for men and women. If you keep that in mind, a lot of things will hit differently: like the armor on Jerry Heil in the beginning( women are part of the Ukrainian military btw); the shadows a.k.a. departed people; the missiles. It’s more real-life than it is biblical. If you watch the video for this song, it has real-life Ukrainian women affected by the full-scale invasion, in some shape or form: whether by experiencing occupation, or being a soldier, among others. This was, hands down, one of my most favorite songs and performances this year, and in the history of Eurovision. Of course, I’m biased and live in Ukraine, so this performance made me very emotional, but we had a pretty solid Top 5 this year. Israel wasn’t my fav, because it was super generic, both song and performance, but besides that, I would have been happy for any of the four in the Top 5 to have come first. In fact, there were so many good songs this year and many deserving of victory. Ukraine came third from the “death spot,” which is second in the running order, which is the best result from that position in a while. Usually, most countries from that spot end up coming in the bottom 10, so this was a huge deal. You should also react to the entries from other countries that didn’t place in the Top 5, such as Estonia, Lithuania, Italy, Greece, Finland, Armenia and Austria. These were my favorites, but heck, you could react to all songs if you want: most are great!

  • @V.Zakomirnyi

The director of this presentation/production is Tanya Muinho - a world-famous Ukrainian director, clip maker, designer, stylist and photographer. She is the director of music videos of popular world and Ukrainian artists, such as: Dua Lipa, Jungkook(JK), Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, Harry Styles, Sam Smith, Lenny Kravitz, Post Malone, The Weeknd, Cardi B, Megan. The Stallion, Rosalia, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Yungblud, MONATIK and others.
Not all Europeans will understand the true meaning of the details of the performance, unlike Ukrainians, who see symbols in every second of the performance.
On the ESC stage, Jerry Heil appeared in a pastel long dress with shoulder patches, and Alyona Alyona in a gray suit with a cape, chain mail and voluminous sleeves.
Jerry Hil said that as a reference for her costume, the image of the defender Archangel Michael was used, and part of the metal armor on the shoulders is also from there. In addition, the dress is really torn and burnt - as a symbol of strength and indomitability. "We looked at his clothes and what he broadcasts. We looked at a lot of content. In our production, my image is a symbol of strong virgins who carry this world on their steel shoulders," Jerry Heil clarified.
Alyona Alyona emphasized that her image conveys the thorny life of Ukrainian women now. "My cape has layered shoulders to show that a woman's life now is hard, thorny, full of things you don't expect. And you have a lot to carry on your shoulders, but you get up and go, take your sword and go fight ", the rapper said. By the way, during her performance, Alyona pulls out an improvised sword from behind her back: in her hair is a hairpin stylized as a sword.
All elements of clothing are real and have a lot of weight. The chain mail alone weighs 3 kg and consists of 10,000 metal rings.
"It is difficult to move with it, but we deliberately chose it so that it was not just symbols, but so that we ourselves could feel it and broadcast it for real," concluded Alyona Alyona.
As Jerry Heil sings "The Fountain Makes Its Way," a digital stream of water sweeps across the stage. It reminds Ukrainians of the tragedy at the Kakhovskaya HPP, which was blown up by the Russian invaders, destroying the largest reservoir in Ukraine.
The lights in the sky during Jerry Heil's speech symbolize the flashes of phosphorus bombs, prohibited by all international conventions, but with which the Russians fire at the positions of the Armed Forces, as well as peaceful cities and villages of Ukraine.
And during the performance of the rapper Alyona Alyona, shadows are visible above - these are the souls of our glorious ancestors and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians killed by the Russian invaders in the ongoing war; they support us from heaven. And the lyrics of the song are appropriate: "But your ancestors will always follow you from heaven."
At the end of the number, Jerry Heil and Alyona Alyona go down, as if to the other women. In general, Women Power and the unification of women for an important cause is one of the main messages of their performance, expressed in two lines that are repeated in English as well: all virgins are born human. The girls wanted to remind that even though we are simple people, we can reach unreal heights.
    (Note.
Archangel Michael was the first to rebel against Lucifer when he rebelled against God. Since then, Archangel Michael has not stopped fighting for the glory of the Creator, for the cause of saving the human race.
Archangel Michael is the patron saint of Kyiv and all of Rus' (not to be confused with Russia (Russian Federation); Rus' is an ancient Slavic state with its capital in Kyiv; Russia (Russian Federation) is the former Muscovy (until 1721), a country with Finno- the Hungarian population, the heiress of the Moscow ulus, founded by the Mongol khan of the Golden Horde in the 13th century).
In addition, Archangel Michael is considered the protector of Europe. The so-called "Sword of Archangel Michael" is known - seven sanctuaries in honor of Michael, which are located in a straight line in Europe and the Middle East. The beginning of this sword is in Ireland, passes through England, France, Italy, Greece, ends at Mount Carmel in Israel.
Archangel Michael is considered the deputy of the military, police, sailors, and the sick.)
(Note: Ukraine is currently waging a bloody war for its existence with the brutal occupier, the Russian Federation, while simultaneously defending human civilization from neo-Nazism, Russian chauvinism, and imperialism.)
    P.S.
At all times, artists have been inspired by biblical themes, but this song is not like that, because Mother Teresa is not a biblical character. She is our (my) contemporary, who for her deeds was added to the list of saints and became a virgin.

FYI. This is not a duet, but two different independent singers 😊. Jerry Heil takes part in the national Eurovision selection for the third time. European bloggers adoringly awaited her song “WHEN GOD SHUT THE DOOR” last year, predicting her success, but... it didn’t happen. 😊 Alyona Alyona, a former kindergarten teacher from the Kyiv region, is the coolest female rapper in Ukraine, who has been performing successfully in Europe and the USA for a long time. Previously, they had already sung several songs in collaboration with each other and with very popular performers from Poland and Germany.
Jerry Heil, by the way, is a student at Berklee College of Music, USA, majoring in film music. She was forced to take a sabbatical leave due to the treacherous Russian war against Ukraine in order to do charity concerts for her country.

Some folks still don’t have a clue as to what is going on in Ukraine. At first I equated it to what the Nazis did to a select culture of people during WW2 (which Ukrainians were also a victim of, btw). But I now find it more similar to the story “The War of the Worlds” in which outsiders come to steal your land, and while doing so, look to exterminate every living being that occupies it and replace them with something else (no exaggeration). Does that sound like any other war in current or recent times? I hardly think so.

The song references Maria Magdalena (Mother of Jesus, from the Bible) and Mama Teresa (who is not maybe that holy of a person, but helped many people), but is not about them in any way.
Quote from WIKIPEDIA: According to the duo, the song attempts to inspire hope by implying that divinity exists within all humans as exemplified by the Roman Catholic saint Mother Teresa and the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus, who "were born as human beings". The songwriting duo have stated that the song is not about the two figures, but references them to symbolize "charity, love, [and] unification". In other interviews, they have described the song as a reminder that we are responsible for our own destiny, and that happiness is only achievable if one seeks out for it and creates it for themselves. They have also stated that the song was conceived as a message of empowerment for Ukrainian women. In response to criticism of Mother Teresa for her clinics in India displaying a lack of medical care, Alyona defended Mother Teresa stating "she wanted people to live, not die, that's all".

Real hair on both of these amazing women. You could check the English lyrics when you don't understand the language, you miss out so much context.

It seems to me that the secret is that they speak Ukrainian. I listened many times how Ukrainians speak and all of them, it seems to me, sing very well, they have a very beautiful language, although complex.

What you are commenting on stage-wise and screens-wise is Swedish production. There's a reason why Sweden is known for impeccable production in Eurovision. If they know how to do something, they know how to do Eurovision.

You're right about Bible vibes. The song is Mother Teresa and Virgin Mary. They sing that all of the divas were born like human beings.

Women in the end, they are sleeping in basments, underground metro stations and shelters because of russian bombings.
It was interesting watching your reaction to the performance, you are respectful and genuinely interested, though part of me wishes you knew the background of the song and the message it sends to the world, because it is shown so painfully beautifully on stage.
