My grandpa was in the 4th infantry division 8th regiment 3rd battalion. He made it all the way to the end. I'm lucky to have heard some of the stories that he shared with me. He was a heck of a great man!

This is a beautifully detailed account down to the company level, and sometimes even the platoon level, of the greatest invasion in history.

Very good videos explaining the logistics and the strategies involved in the Normandy Landings. Overall excellent video covering all beach landings from Utah to Sword. Godspeed to you and to those who perished and served in the war.

Should be compulsory education to all school kids. What a magnificent generation they were and not known as the greatest generation for nothing. Heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time.

Very nice, but wish more was said about the destroyer support on Omaha, which was vital to knocking out several German strong positions and enabled troops to move off the beach.

Ramsey was first and foremost in charge of the evaluation of the BEF from Dunkirk long before North Africa or Sicily.

We can't be defined by wrong decisions by the clueless. We must be defined by men who fought on the front lines. Those men are the one who won the day.

I usually associate this narrator with Simple History, imo a pretty shit popular history channel that misrepresents history for the sake of sensation and views. However, rhis channel is much better with its information, these videos are quite good

Make sure to follow for the big project that is coming next week. It's about a battle that has never been covered before and remains unknown to most people.

The United States should've refused to fight a land war in Europe and let the British figure out how to liberate Western Europe or let the Soviets have it. The United States got stuck providing 70% of the manpower for the Western front by the end of the War in Europe while arming and financing Britian. This while waging the largest naval war in history in the Pacific with token support from our so-called allies. There were a lot of abled bodied men in England driving cabs and buses during the war while entire American towns were stripped of men of military age solely because Britian wanted to go to war over Poland but didn't want to field a large enough army to win it. Instead they hung the French out to dry, let the Soviets get hammered and waited for the US to win the Western half of the war for them while they ran around the desert fighting the rump of few thousand German troops and breaking even until the US launched Torch. All this while maintaining an empire of 500 million people but wouldn't tapped the non white manpower of that Empire because nobody in that empire wanted to fight for a pack of racist bastards from Britian.

But the US could've limited it's war aims to clearing the high seas of the u boat threat and conducting a few bombing raids on the edge of Nazi occupied Europe and left it to the British to liberate Western Europe and where they wanted the Iron Curtain to fall while focusing on the Pacific War.
The United States was never obligated to fight a land war in Europe and avoided doing so I'm Asia. Britian was the weakest link in the allied Chain and it's impact on the outcome of the war was minimal compared to The U.S, Soviet Union and even China. (Operation Dragoon proved that the United States didn't need Britian or British support to open a second front against Nazi Germany) Had Britian not gone to war against Nazi Germany over Poland... A country Britian couldn't defend... Hitler would've invaded the USSR and he and Stalin would've destroyed each other in Eastern Europe while Western Europe would've been able to move in and pick up the pieces and not totally exhausted themselves and been stuck with 3.5 million American GIs and 6 million Soviet troops parked in the heart of Europe by May 1945.
