Thank you for not using uninteresting open chords. You nailed the exact chord voicings of the original with drop-D tuning. Brilliant! Now, can you teach us the solo? =)
Great tune and great lesson. a few days ago I've seen the video of this song by Reina del cid and I'was jus wandering how to play it, now I've found this beautiful lesson by you. thats great, now I've got all I need to play it. thank you Pilgrim. ciao
Thoroughly enjoyable and productive. I am a born again bassist following a 51 year Black Sabbatical but I'm "semi tone" deaf. I need chord charts to fits bass line and when I look at lyrics and chords stuff, I struggle to work out where to change and yours is a great presentation and also you present it in a calm way All those zap and pow tutorials and hey you guys don't work for me but that's not a criticism just a preference. Thanks
I just stumbled upon your lessons. I have been fiddle farting around on the guitar for years and consider myself a 4/4 campfire strummer. I will reference your lessons in moving my playing along. Thanks great job. You provide chord diagrams and tabs which is very helpful.
Thanks so much for this lesson. I've been playing this approximately, but wrong, for a long time. As you have shown, the timing of the strumming is the essence of this song. And while I'm here, the other thing that is essential is the harmony on 'stuck in the middle'. Almost everyone who sings it, pro or open mic, gets it wrong. I'm not musically trained enough to explain what they're doing wrong. Any ideas?
I dunno what they're doing in that song. Like all hits, there's a bitta magic in there. And its Gerrys guitar. My reckoning is that the intro was using a guitar in standard pitch with a drop D, and the song uses a standard guitar 'tuning', but dropped a whoe step (D)
not a difficult song, but I appreicate you putting the chord charts up since you don't have fret markers on your guitar which makes it a little frrustrating simply trying to follow you visually. (though I used to have a fretless bass and I love playing fretless instruments) honestly, I wish All guitar tutorials on UA-cam would use chord charts. there are too many ways to play the same chord and people shouldn't assume every guitarists knows all of them. thank yo.
Guitar Pilgrim The solos from 'Sympathy for the Devil ' would be fantastic as well; probably my favourite of all time. By the way, in English, Gerry is pronounced Jerry, so like the cartoon cat, not like 'Gary'. Gerry Rafferty was in a band with Billy Connolly for a while, this song is about signing his first record deal.
You have a very interesting speaking voice. Singing is ok but your speaking voice.... I think you have something special or different. I haven’t pinpointed it yet but I think it worth doing a five minute recording of yourself reading maybe some children’s fairytales. Try it . I believe your voice could go places. Thank you ❤️🎶

And each time I hear this song I think of a cop about to lose his ear....
KimboSlice Mr. Blondes boogie tune before he wields the blade😂 Pretty good singing there too, Pilgrim.
Hard not to
Yeah true - bloody Tarantino 😠😠
Without question the best version of this song solo on acoustic
Love how the layout is ..petfect

Best interpretation I have heard. I love it and going to learn it. Your Awesome.
Glad I stumbled upon your videos !
Incidentally it's GERRY Rafferty not GARRY.
Thank you🙏
All right sorry had to hear the song through to see that you’re showing how to do the intro great job

My pleasure brother, I am glad to be of any help, best to you!

What about showing the cord diagrams for the intro or explaining where you put the fingers on the intro please
What cords are you doing for the intro please explain the fingering Of the left hand
I was wondering why you did this when the other guy who's usually right on does...but now I see. You nailed the rhythm--thanks
Great tune!
Great lesson. Could I request a lesson on Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street"?
Brilliant 😂
Another guy who teaches thus very excellent instructor says it’s actually double drop D tuning is the second guitar
Being unfamiliar with dropped D, I'll stick to standard tuning. A great lesson, nevertheless. Thank you.
Hey Pilgrim! 😅😅😅 (John Wayne) Awesome. Great.
It wasn't Gary Rafferty either GP....it was the late Gerry Rafferty. :-)....you're still the best though!
I've been playing it Wrong all these years... but then, I pretty much butcher everything I try to play! Lol
Hey - that’s my old guitar. Wish I had it back.

Who Gary?
Good vid 👍
Great if you can sing! Which I can't lol!
Intro sounds soft or is it the acoustics of the guitar ?
Every time i hear this song i think of Gerry Rafferty!
it catches my attention as you put your fingers in at A minute 1:28 jajajaa
Can you do a lesson of the song Sweet Virginia, please?
Hi Willian, you mean The Rolling stones! I love the stones! I was actually thinking about doing paint it black :)
@@GuitarPilgrim Any song of Rolling Stones, Beatles and Johnny Cash is a good choice. thanks for your lessons. Good weekend!

When I put my first finger on the bar, it sounds weird, mostly mute
Use the force, Luke...
@@GuitarPilgrim I had my tuning all screwed up. My dad had to help me 😅
Solo lesson would be good
1st string should also be dropped down to D...
That would be a traditional dropped D. No need for an ellipsis.
@scruggsnut Agree - it's actually more important that the high E be dropped. You could be fine w/o dropping the low E.
BTW, who's ''Garry'' 🤔🤣

Get it right please. It’s Gerry Rafferty, not Garry.
Other than that, not bad
Almost but not quite. You dropped the wrong E string. You need to drop the high E down to D.
Stealer's Wheels.......
Pretty sure that instead of an A minor at the “please, please” part that it’s an A7 instead. Other than that great job
Sorry... it's definately Am
