Thanks for showing the truth ! I had to scroll down a lot to get to your video of course... But continuously breathing in CO2 is NOT GOOD FOR ANYBODY especially for long periods of time
I'm a doctor here in Pakistan currently working in COVID19 Isolation, Your videos are really helpful, I've shared your videos in our group and they are extremely popular. Keep up the good work.
@Jimmy Mckanna - RT Clinic I came here because of the view that one could test oxygen reduction into the body from any mask by using a fingertip device that I don't think pricks the skin (or does it?) to measure blood oxygen. But the tests I saw demonstrated no changes and showed 100%, so no reduction from a N95 mask. Does oxygen in blood change that fast if at all and if it can change fast is the finger tip the best way to test changes from breathing? To me it's common sense that if you obstruct breathing in any way you reduce and slow down oxygen flow which is the reason if you stop it totally for much time we pass out and die.
Looked to me like the pco2 went up by about 5 mmhg. Maybe the oxygen analyzer measured your exhaled o2 instead of available o2. Cause with mask off your available should of been 21 but read 18. Nice study though either way. Wearing masks sucks.
It is makes sense to why an obstructive patient in an exacerbation wants a fan in their patient room. That 2-3 % point drop in FiO2 from 21% could truely affect their Pao2. The fan circulates exhaled air.
Jimmy, do you have any idea how a tracheostomy patient can do a pft. Thanks for all your videos. As a tracheostomy patient with CO2 retainer. You're awesome!

Thank you for doing available oxygen/ co2 behind the mask. Everyone else just shows that masks don't affect your saturation.

Can you cap your trach? If so, that would be an easy PFT. There might be some added resistance, but a good trending tool for later pfts.
