I have a question, I have noticed that each person has a proclivity to a particular sin and that same sin is normally present in other members of the family.. are there any scriptures or church Fathers that talk about why certain sins follow a family?
Saw a Catholic priest speak on this. Something about ancestral sin being a potential demon which is plaguing the family. It can be driven away by revoking permissions and powers granted to it by the original offending family member. I think you'd need whoever the matriarch or patriarch of the family is to speak with a priest about this.
Great question, which I hope someone answers. We do learn from our parents, from their words and their behaviors. I know I did, and I believed that the patterns were "normal." After I converted to Orthodoxy, I began to see things differently, little by little. I pray for God's continued mercy.
Yea i will continue to look into this cause i find iflt very interesting not just fot myself but for the benefit of others. I have heard of the catholics and ancestral sin. If i find anything significant i will let you all know!
You don’t inherit sin or guilt. You inherit the consequences of those sins directly or indirectly. You see this in the fall in Genesis 3. We’ve inherited Adam’s consequences of his sins like death would be one example. But to answer the original question of this thread it would be the influences of the parents or guardians. Sin is a influence like you see the serpent influence Eve in the garden. We pick up on our parents and people around us sin at a young age a mimic those until we are confronted with the truth of the gospel. Which causes us to examine our sin.
I wouldn’t suggest such a claim influence you before you take a few moments to research the origins of the bible on your own. As is commonly known, the bible is more of a library than a single written book, meaning it was authored by many different sources over varying times in history; one of the strongest reasons why it could not be sourced or inspired by a single text. The Old Testament scriptures- don’t just take my word for it, please do a quick search- were written between about 1200 and 165 BC, and backed by a long history of jewish oral tradition. While the New Testament books/letters were all written by Jesus’ apostle/early church founders within the 1st century, 30-60 years after Jesus’ death. The NT cannon would face a lot of scrutiny and revisions for the next 400 years and so on, but ultimately would give us the bibles we have today.

Master bless! Is the external and influential nature of the passions the reason why it is called "The World" in Scripture? Thank you!

The Russian church separate itself from the Orthodox church. Let's pray for reunification
Not how that works.
Are you saying that Russian Patriarchate separated itself from the Greeks who are on the road of blessing homosexuals.? If so... BRAVO RUSSIANS.!
