Lyrics:
Dead stars in jewelry boxes spill as we rush past them, lain to waste
We can’t have everything we want, some things will have to stay
There is no beauty in the fire but there is beauty in the way your eyes locked willingly with death and death turned trembling away
Like ice on passing comets we move coldly, soundless, through it all but in the wordless space between us there is something like a song
Each note exists within the silence, our hearts were moving it along
You sing the melody so perfect; I can only get it wrong
So I beg, just make the silence stop (it’s exposed too much)
I think I’ve had enough (time to let it go)
It’s always quiet and that was the sound of us (and it’s killing me, I’m close to giving up)
An hourglass is spinning, tumbling right past me through the room
Gravity long since gone, now an airless tomb
The song that lived between us: here but out of tune
The grains of sand escape the glass, each one paler than the moon
Entire planets empty with only dust and rocks to find
You escaped from here, leaving this behind
You found an enemy in sorrow; I made a lover out of mine
And now I’m running out of air and I’m begging
Just make the silence stop (it’s exposed too much)
I think I’ve had enough (time to let it go)
It’s always quiet and that was the sound of us (And it’s killing me, I’m close to giving up)
What am I to say? We’ve been growing apart
My infatuation with you began to slip into the void
I watched it drift into the cosmos as anguish plagued my mind
As we began to mirror all the space between the stars, I couldn’t take the static
I needed something more
It wasn’t easy finding something to live for, hearing your voice inside of every sound
I saw a part of you in everything, took a moment to breathe, then let it run out
Just make the silence stop (it’s exposed too much)
I think I’ve had enough (time to let it go)
It’s always quiet and that was the sound of us (And it’s killing me, I’m close to giving up)

Was the person with the black beak. Fun working with Frankie Ray.
Nicee
Hey great performance!
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅8i😅😅
This is too good. Like damn. I love it, deeply.
These two singles released have been some of the best music I've ever heard in my entire life. The lyrics have really hit on such a personal note and brought a connection I haven't felt in quite some time. Thank you all for this. I can't wait for the album.
It was my honor to be the lead actor in them both.
@@FrankieRaywhat directions/story did they tell you to follow for it? Always been slightly curious.
@@brandonmcnemar3477 HEY BRANDON I just happened to be online when your question popped in. Thanks for asking. The funny thing is this. I had done a film with the director in St Louis a couple of years P earlier, he called said he was shooting these two videos in Sacramento and would i help him out and do them
@@brandonmcnemar3477 sorry i hit the wrong button lol. Actors. Lol. My schedule allowed for the shooting days and i really enjoyed working with him before, so off i went. Funny thing is this i asked him what he wanted me to do, he said what ever i want, just go with my instincts, gave me the song and the over all feeling he wanted. I created a back story that i had played in a band with them years ago and left, and now had came back and saw where they had gone with the music… then just let it flow from there. So for an actor musician dancer. A great opportunity to just let your instincts take over. Two of my favorite jobs, other than working with Michael Jackson and Marlon Brando on Michael’s last #1 video you rock my world…. Thats hard to beat. Thanks for the question i love these guys and band i so connect with their music.
This is the one of the most catchy songs that I ever heard.
I love Kurt, but man Corey is fucking radiant. I must say the transition from his less clean and harsher sounds are phenomenal. Such beautifully talented people and a well refined sound. As a long time fan I'm so stoked to hear more.
Lance Leaym his lyrics are so amazing and far grasping. This record as a concept album is by far one of my favorites
It didn't work out at alllll
@@JMJ2020 I wondered why they disbanded after this. I feel like he might not of been able to do this live? Idk
Coyldve just been initially signed w fewer records in there contract and been weary of the reception of more recent things. Labels love to sign ppl for 7 albums knowing if each of those loses assumed money the label is owed by the artist in a sense
Cory stans unite. Bro is a legend.
Hope you guys get all the recognition you deserve. Radio, arena tours, the lifestyle gifted musicians like yourselves should have.
this has to be one of my favorite songs lyrically of all time. absolutely beautiful
So I've heard a lot about this band since I follow DGD, and I see that some of the old school fans are mad about the change up. I completely understand as I have had to deal with this situation many a time with bands I love, but seriously guys, this shit is amazing.
I always come back to this song first. It's so catchy and the notes hit so hard. The lyrics are also fantastic, metaphorical enough to interpret in different ways. The guitars also hit hard, with complimenting melodies and the percussion knows when to thrash out and when to reel itself in a little.
Timeless.
Beautiful song. Amazingly talented band. Joe's drumming during the verse is hypnotizing
listen to the band because of how fucking emotional and poetic their lyrics are. This band is fucking gold man
Killer comeback. Brought me to tears and the energy put into this, both physically and spiritually, was everything for me. Thank you so much for what you do.
This song has absolutely grown on me the more I listen to it. Was salty at first but this is definitely the same birds. Same passion in their work they always put in
I cannot stop listening. Been a fan of ALLB for a bit but this direction is going to blow them wide open to a much larger audience. And they will deserve all of it. Such a fantastic track.
this song says so much without putting it clearly, truly a song that exists within the silence...
I think my favorite thing about this song is how nonchalant it is about the absolutely MINDBLOWING line "...There is beauty in the way your eyes locked willingly with death, and death turned trembling away"
this was the first song i heard from this band and i love his voice so amazing
I absolutely need to know what both guitarists' rigs look like. Their tone is unlike anything I've heard before.
ALLB is back! Rejoice!
Just make the silence stooooopppp!
My first time in a big music video. A lot of fun!! Frankie Ray was fun to work with.
This video has such beautiful juxtapositions. Like, really. The song is beautiful. Elegant minimalism (to a degree) and it meshes so well with the whole deconstruction and well composed facade of performance. Stark Contrasts, really lovely.
This song is incredible. I can get why people may not like it if you're a fan of the old style but the music, the lyrics, and everything else are just so on point. Gotta give respect when it's due
i don't know why people shit on this one so hard, i keep coming back to it, such a comfort album, i'm in love with the sound and the flow and transitions, so what its different, ya'll are music enjoyers, enjoy the music. I don't doubt in my mind the backlash on this album may have had something to do with their breakup... RIP a lot like birds, i really wonder what Cory is up to these days.
It’s a shame. Huge fan of ALLB from first album on and Kurt himself so I can’t even deny the change upset me, but the moment I heard the new stuff I fell in love and to this day it’s some of my favorite music out there. Cory killed it I hope he is doing something!
Tbh I want to go see them live, but I bet they don't play anything on this album... the only one I actually liked. Their other stuff just sounds like DGD and I never really liked them
@@Beanie-Sandals If you didn't already miss them this exact song is in the setlist haha
The band is still together just a new lead vocalist
@Beanie-Sandals nah I saw them live this year and they played this song. Kurt also said he's writing new music with a lot like birds again.
people can hate all they want but I'm in love. this is amazing. bands grow, they change. just be happy you can be there to witness.
This is so painfully relatable
I wanted to tell you all personally, thank you for this album. I haven’t found music that touched my soul so deeply since Relativity by Emarosa or DGD , downtown mountain battle. I wanted to throw my sobriety away of almost 5 years and after a massive moment of clarity with a friend, I found this album. Thank you for helping save my life and never knowing. I listen to this album so much to the point it’s on repeat all moments I’m able to listen. I hope this reaches you guys, you’ve helped me in a way you’ll never know creating this album.
Trevor
Bens guitar dip at the end is dope too.
this music makes me feel chill like vibrations echoing from my heart and out my body...
Check out The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi by The Receiving End of Sirens. And also Satori by I, The Mighty. This band is like a mixture of both these albums, it's nuts!
All worry for this album is now gone. So glad I preorder and I'm looking forward to the full release! Thanks guys for being awesome
when Cory hits the chorus i keep imagining him transitioning from singing to screaming during "stop" and "enough"
This song is perfect. Specially the hook. I mean silence between us means everything. There is nothing to talk about. There's nothing in common to share. There is not interest in you to elaborate and if I push the issue it becomes my fault. I lost it we lost it a long time ago.
My school turned this song into a indoor drumline show for my senior year and it was so awesome!! this song is amazing
Best song the ever released hands down.
im actually pretty proud of the band for holding it together after kurt. i didnt expect them to break up or anything, but i was concerned on how the clean vox were gonna be, and cory surprised me this album
The 2006 post hardcore vibes is strong on this one I love it!
Their sound changed on the album, but I love it. This is one of my favorite songs by A lot like birds, it's beautiful. No Nurture is still my all time favorite though.
The more I listen to it the more I realise it does sound like a lot like birds.
Michael and Joe are geniuses
High level stuff, unbelievable drumming & vocals. Miss this band.
Frankie ray you kill it man
A Lot Like Birds, continuing to prove to me why they're one of my top favorite bands.
good luck on your new journeys guys! Still gonna rock this forever!
The whole chorus breakdown at the end was so sick
Can't stop listening to this
weird al bringing straight fire yet again, this guy is timeless
good tunes is good tunes... we need moar....thank you...the people.
Lockwood your doing so good
I think I speak for majority of fans when I say we're fucking proud of you and the band.
kept seeing this on "recommended" so i clicked it, wow! I'm glad i did, absolutely love this!
Chills when the last breakdown hit idk why just the feels mannnn
DIVISI was our best album. dont @ us.
This song does not disappoint.
Even though I saw this band multiple times I never once remembered or was ever even remotely attracted to any of their live music ......until one day a person showed me this song and loved it !.......came to find out it was a totally different style from their original sound ......
I saw them in Pittsburgh a few days ago and these guys are amazing way BETTER LIVE in my opinion they will always be worth going to see! they know how to put on a show ! they are amazing with their instruments and they are definitely having a good time on stage ! rock on \m/ hope to see you guys back here soon !
Shot on the Delta King. Dope
Michael franzino laughs maniacly as you argue about different Alot like birds sounds
"I learned that we must follow what is in our hearts and be in tune with ourselves". Kurt Travis
Well written and composed. Love this song. Tearing me up inside because it's happening now but you know that's what a good song does.
So good, love the progression of ALLB's sound
this song is something special..
So good. Can't wait for the album to drop!
matt coate looking fleek af with that upright bass tho
Literally how I feel as an almost 35 y/o man listening to this band still 😂
Please I need this song on spotify so bad!!!
This song came out exactly when I needed it. Good work a lot like birds!
Same, It really hits close to home for me lyrics and all
The chorus is amazing! Sounds nostalgic.
So I woke up one day singning the first verse without ever hearing it before. It's been stuck in my head since then. Idk why i needed to hear it, but i'm glad my brain works awesomely while unconscious.
one of the best 2017 albums ive heard
WHERE THE HELL WAS THIS BAND FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS OF MY LIFE!!??
I like old ALLB and this era. In my opinion they're equally great in their own ways
This song is fantastic !!!!
Very different without the screams but still is very good. I give him props because he has a good voice even by himself it sounds good
Instant fan
i think ALLB is making a better transition to a more traditional, alternative rock feel than other bands that have done the same, like crown the empire or sleeping with sirens. this song still has character and a sound that other bands try and fail at doing well.
Can we bring this back please 😭
Man I'm so stoked for this album! Sound fucking killer!
I think the gnarliest part of all this is that I can still feel small bits of their former sound in the music and it starts to give me hope... then it just transitions into the same thing.
I don't know, man... it's not displeasing, but it feels like trying to sleep with someone after they've cheated on you.
i stand by my previous statement!!! dont knock the change cuz this is what musicians do grow evolve to something better
Got to meet Corey the other day. Cool guy, I miss the ALLB with Kurt but I love this new stuff, and sufferer and royal corda seem to be the best for their post hard ore sounds.
Fucking love these guys. Always making good music
Can't wait for DIVISI
Love these new songs. Tbh I wouldn't be dissappointed if this record as mellow as we've heard so far and not as crazy and technical as usual. As long as they're writing good music, I'll be listening
They have one of the best drummer i ever heard
really really great post hardcore here lads well done
This sound isn't what sold me on the band, congrats on new horizons, maybe next album will catch me.
Jesus Christ I needed this song. Thank you guys.
One might say that there's some DIVISIon among the fans...
I'll get out now...
can't wait for the tour
Heavy. Real. 💯
Thanks Cory! and Gang... i listen to this album over and over
weird al's son has a great voice for sure.
Kek
They have a different sound now. However, different does not mean dead. ALLB sounds great as always. Good music has no definite style, snd certainly isn't stuck in one place forever.
The beauty of the lyrics still has not changed. Beauty, meaning the world and emotions that you can draw up from the words. Every lyric has its written meaning, and its percieved meanings: what it means to the listener. That has not changed to this point. I can still listen to their music in a room alone, or full of people, and escape to an emotional world both bright and blue beauty.
Soo..all of that was to say they still guud :P
I don't mind the new style, I am actually more pumped to have different types of music coming out by the same dudes. Especially when Kurt goes and makes two new bands.
I have goosebumps
this is incredible. beats anything they've ever done with Kurt
love this! can't wait for the album.
I fucking love this song. I have been a fan of ALLB for many years and im always excited for any new music from them. This is a different sound but im absolutely feelin it. Cant wait for the whole album
More A Lot Like Birds please!
this effort is the most meaningful one yet
i think its fucking bananas that people are so simple and one dimensional that most of them arent even giving it a chance to move them like music is supposed to. no screams wahhh no heavy no strange almost unnecessary guitar licks. i cant believe they would alienate sucha loyal and supportive fan base by creating and composing such a different sound. if you only like one sound pick a band and wear it out. this shit is dope and whether you guys like it or not i think these guys will be around a while longer doing this in spite of all the negativity and hate. ALLB POR VIDA MUFUCKAS
And my preorder has just been made....very excited to hear the full album.
As much as I love Kurt Travis, this still kicks ass.
Honestly wasn't too into this at first, but it's definitely growing on me. This shit is actually pretty fire! Cory stepped up his game
