    Hi ya. Good luck from Northern Ireland..... Just came upon your channel a couple of weeks ago - started at the beginning and just can't stop watching.
    Told all my other farming friends about you and the clear and concise way you explain exactly what's happening even if its not exactly what you want to be happening at that time.
    Keep up the good work and I hope this season is kind to you.....
    Ashley

    Would love to know more why you plant certain types of crops. What leads to your decision?

      I mention all the seed varieties and seeding rates in previous videos. But canola we seed at 2kg/ha barely is 75kg/ha and wheat is 80kg/ha

    How much does that screen in your Ute cost to set up? Any ongoing monthly data costs on each device to make it work?

    • @tomsbrookfarm
      @tomsbrookfarm  Рік тому +2

      The tablet is just an iPad mini. The app is Agritrack and that is a yearly subscription for the farm, can't remember the cost off the top of y head.
      But we find it very handy to know what has been done and where the guys are at, very handy tool.

    Also does it not stay warm enough there to where you all can grow crops year around?

    • @kholdstare90
      @kholdstare90 Рік тому +1

      The opposite. Aus is heading into winter so they can grow crops. During the summer the heat and lack of water means it's incredibly hard to grow anything

    • @tomsbrookfarm
      @tomsbrookfarm  Рік тому +2

      kholdstar90 pretty much summed it up. It gets to hot and dry for us to do a summer crop where we are located.

    Iam from the USA so please forgive my ignorance. Here I never see a farmer in a uniform but every farming and mining for that matter channel from Australia I see the similar uniform with the 2 tone shirts, iam just curious how that started. Did it start with the mining industry or how. I know it's a dumb ? Just thought I'd ask

    • @keithpadbury9818
      @keithpadbury9818 Рік тому

      A variety of reasons: Work uniform is tax deductible. If your employer does not provide a uniform you can provide your own and make a tax deduction. Employees should not have to spend their own hard earned dollars buying clothing only to have it damaged (you know what farm work is like) in the course of their employment.Two tone shirts with reflective tape are known as hi-visibility so uniforms assists with safety. Too many workers were/are being injured and killed at work and work safety is a big issue here. Employers need to do whatever they can to make sure employees are as safe as possible. Uniforms help you feel like you are part of a team. Many mines in WA has meant that safety wear is more readily available and cheaper.

    • @tomsbrookfarm
      @tomsbrookfarm  Рік тому

      W Evans and Keith pretty much summed it up! We started the uniform back when a worker asked dad if we had one. This was the time when the mining boom took off here in Western Australia so that drove the reason for the hi-vis.
      Now it is basically a necessity for HR reasons and its a good safe practice to get into having everyone safe and appropriately dressed for the jobs at hand.

    Why do you wear the gloves for maintenance jobs?.

    • @tomsbrookfarm
      @tomsbrookfarm  Рік тому

      We where the black plastic gloves in this case as we are working on the boomspray so it is covered in chemical, so it is a safe practice to have gloves on so we are getting chemical directly on our skin.
