Super...appreciate this guide. I have been playing since launch and get tells asking if I can buff troll all the time. However I didn’t have a clue how to properly do so. I love to troll I will be working on my artifacts so I’m able to now. Thanks obsidian. I like this build and the fact people are into using trolls for this. Give a little of our shine back
Thanks for the guide, I actually pug with this setup all the time and the groups do very well, I actually had a healer say I was a top-notch troll. Although, sometimes if I notice the tank is struggling to stay alive, I'll switch out rao or tetra with the rings since the health buff given is based on the 24% vit buff from the claw.
@@pastoryoda2789 Entwined ringz of azar, gives the group a pretty big health buff due to the 24% vit buff fom the claw, ypu can take this a step further if you use parasite, you pretty much become a compound omega with those 3.
@@Ghost-qm7gb i mean buff troll is the actual elite meta to make gemini spam groups and buff trolls, but now when you queue a Pog regular raid, ppl always buff troll healers dont get any power anymore and everything become harder because of that lol. its still easy to beat the raid, but your damage take a huge disadvantage as might when you do a dps comp for example, with buff troll on the group. now we have to mention on LFG : need Power troll ;) but buff troll is good, am just asking to buff troll to be able to see if the group need them as power troll or buff depending on situation
Here’s a theory/experiment if group don’t want to be selfish: Tank should use Dilustel Refractor to boost groups health All DPS should use Tetra (hope it would stack from each player) Heals do what heals do Trolls use this buff troll setup This hasn’t been tested, just something I was thinking about while watching this video
Tetra doesn't stack, the player with the highest buff will override all the other ones. Dilustel Refractor is not as common anymore with tanks running EoG-Manacles-Mystic or even Everyman. Refractor is 4th on the tank artifact list generally.
Since tetra doesn’t stack it’s just optimal for the troll to run tetra since they’re specing mainly into health so they should give the highest buff aka override any others in the groups tetra. Can swap with rings or Gemini tho if a dps insists on running it
Great vid , buff trolling is all that’s really needed. If your group needs more power like I see ppl saying in the comments (if group doesn’t want a buff troll) Just swap claw out for scrap, parasite or even strat. I don’t spec into vit at all and I keep the groups power up no problem.
All trollers say this but just because healers and tanks can manage doesn't mean its preferable to use 2 stacks of sober to get through a raid. Ever heard the saying jack-of-all-trades master at none... Imagine a healer that specced like this would you be ok with him saying throw on some resto mods and buffs and pick up my slack while I try to dps/heal...
@@seanmiller292 I get your points but from my point of view it’s easily doable, this dlc was a joke. I’m fine I can do all, mastered all I have separate armory’s , ones a full on buff troll ( I can easily keep power up as long as the players know what they’re doing) and one for power just in case. If a Dps is trash he’ll spam moves and be out of power, healers mostly have that art that returns power ( I have it as well on my heal and I never need extreme power outage from a troll, I forgot the art name since I haven’t logged in a month) tanks are pretty chill and don’t need much except for out earth tanks. Like I said, a buff troll can easily troll anything unless the group isn’t as experienced. I have all 200s , to buff and full power spec , but there’s no need at all for a troll to get all arts , he can manage if he’s a decent player. Anyway buff troll is meta atm, no need to go full vit spec / vit arts, troll is more helpful buffing the group.
@@gymvaq1880 Comments like yours only serve to support people that aren't good at their role doing the same exact thing. It's only meta to experienced groups like you said. I can get away with popping pheromones then make people use sodas and arts to burst heal. But is that right in every group? Not to mention 80% of buff trollers don't do their job which isn't being a battery but "controlling" the fight through debuffs. Just because the developers gave you an easy way to do your roll by having power return with every ability used most people take the easy route and want to become DPS not actual controllers.

I never told any controllers to be shit at their role and not give power back, read my comments bud, their are bad players in every role. May I ask what your main role is? It seems you’re having trouble keeping your power up, usually players with power issues have underdeveloped characters. My main has no issue even if I spam, my side character at cr 325 with 160arts runs out quickly because I have no gen mods and low sp’s. Also don’t make the controllers life hell and spam like a clueless chicken. Just how we make healers jobs easier by not taking unnecessary damage, how trolls don’t stun the ads so tanks can pull, how support roles drop supplies for Dps’s so they can do more damage. Don’t go in a raid and point fingers, the point is teamwork, do that and you’ll be fine. In the end it’s not my fault if you get trolls with 100 arts and low sps, or play with randoms who aren’t experienced, I never said a troll can walk in with low buff arts and do well, I said a troll (I should’ve added the word DECENT) can troll prettymuch everything with buff arts. In the end trolling is an art like any other roll, is it easy? Yup every role is, but mastering your own role will make the whole groups job easier, you seem fed up , should join a solid league and you’ll be fine.

Tbh I usually spec for vit and run buff troll since it helps a lot more with power at a slight sacrifice giving the extra might. And if the group is really power starved I just go power troll.
Troll has several jobs - power, buff, debuff, shield, crowd control. You cant just call yourself a buff troll because you have claw then rule out other jobs as obsolete. I've seen too many so called "elite" players that has little understanding of this and in addition also the group's composition. For example (1) some would use scrap in 1st boss COUE instead of RAO (2) if they do use rao they would only have defence debuff on. This is acceptable if you know for a fact you have a strong tank and other role as well in the group, because the eyeball ads hits hard. The tank's survival (damage debuffing) is your prioritization as well as buffing the group. and you have 6 slot as a troll what do u have that so important that you cant have damage debuff on there....
Debuffing doesn't change with this build, you are still running all 3 debuffs, you are still giving power with this build. Crowd control is actually more of a detriment as a controller because then it makes the adds immune for the tank, nothing controllers can do about it because of the dom and breakout profiles being broken. Controllers have the weakest shields out of any powerset so that is barely going to help the group and is strong enough to get a revive only, not going to save anyone.

The troll role has been hijacked by the DPS community. You hit the nail on the head, they think: Ok! I got claw.... I'm good. Claw is great for certain groups, it's not always viable. The reality is that since the community is so DPS heavy, they just want to do more damage. Everything else is irrelevant. Tank has no power? Heh. Healer? Heh. I've seen this over and over. CTE is a good example: Top DPS, max arts etc. Tanks are horrendous, healers as well. The troll is what I call the " background dancer" role. I don't really see trolls doing the things you listed, and you are correct. Those are the primary functions of a controller. I'm not " anti" buff troll, it is just a very group specific build. That 7 percent buff is cool though. Is it going to make or break content? No. It's cool it buffs the tank and healer as well.
love the vid! but what i dont agree wit is having claw on all the time. it should be the last arti in ur set up nd ur not een suppose ta hav it on all the time. the set up should be: aor , cog , claw , nd tet . the claw buff only works ery 12s so u should pop it, then switch to tet . when the claw buff runs out u switch it back , pop it , then switch back to tet and repeat . tet and cog can interchange depending on which ur group is running more so u get that amount of buff out the most . or, if you have the money u can run: aor, bop, and then claw while swapping cog and tet . go even further wit rings, para, omegahedron, clarion, lasso, ect. being a troll is the hardest and most expensive roll if u wanna be the best edit: the reason ur not suppose ta hav claw on alla time is cs it takes away ur ability to power heal with ur group buff .
@@pastoryoda2789 It’s an artifact from the birds of prey episode that at 160 will cast all 3 debuffs at once. It frees up slots in your tray and is perfectly synced with the neck mod 6second cool down

You want the heartthrob trinket as a buff troll and not the heartbreak trinket right? I see some trolls using the heartbreak but the heartthrob gives the 5% health, curious to see why they’d use the heartbreak instead then
Heartbreak can provide a stacking def debuff but its random when it occurs so if you dont have a trinket that is 5% health already then yes heartthrob will be the one to use
The problem is with both trolling a lot of the players are unable to sustain power for the group. But they think they're doing their job and above troll must be able to do both
for sure its a balance and extra sp/stats into vit certainly help but like you said there are trolls that won't know they aren't giving enough power by using claw
@@williamfortner8476 the community can be like that which is unfortunate, if you personally are having power issues I would say level the cyborg ally for its passive. Eventually those bad trolls will get enough gear or stats where their vit will be high enough or they give enough supercharge to where power won't be a concern.
Hey I have a question, so me and my group recently started playing again. Seems like power is a little scarce! I run Tet, Rao, and claw. Could I replace claw with B.O.P. Or another to make kind of a mix? I figured I could prioritize Tet, and still provide power. What is your opinion?
Rao would be the only 100% you need, you can certainly swap claw with BOP and go for more power troll build if your group feels like it needs the power.

Im coming back into being a troll is there a difference of advantages for different power sets to be a buff trolls between munitions, gadgets or mental to be above the rest like dps, stealth or less power cost as an advantage?
Hi i notice there is a power in light call snap trap, this power can do foot print (movement speed debuff) and i want to know if there is other troll power can do it too, please
generator mods would be health, dom won't matter so you can do vitalization and for your gear mods you would have health/dom throughout all of them for max buff but you can sub in the top 2 mods for vit if you feel the power out is low
I use the ring, tetra, and harness. I don't like the claw because you need it at 160 for it to be good. I rather buff the dps more so then anything I don't like the power lose with the claw.
Go with what works for you. Not everyone can do this. This guide is for people that either already had those arts levelled up or for those with money to burn. I have a healer with 200 arts, a might and a pet dps with 200 arts. I'm done paying for arts :/ Gets to the point where it's really not worth it. I buff troll with 160 claw, amulet and parasite, because I had 2 of them anyway for my full power troll (3rd being 160 scrap). I'm not levelling a tetra just for a little extra buff. F the "chase the best" bs lol There will only be other arts in the future that he will tell you are better and you "need" to have them.

Claw gives you max might of 3% and that’s why it’s not absolutely necessary to get it to 200, Urgrund gives 4% max might at 180 rank, but Urgrund buffs group might as well and this is what makes you a buff troll as to where you don’t mind doing some damage but your more so trying to help the group and without these 3, you’re a battle troll or a VIT troll
Damn ppl stealing my combos lol been doing this for months and months now. Also, disagree on the maxed health crap tbh. The trade off is realistically, you will need another troll for power. Which im sure if you did a spreadsheet on that, the grp as a whole- meaning you take all 8 memebers might and add it together- will drop significally since you are losing a dps due to that need for 2 trolls. I think its more benifical for 1 troll who can buff and can power at the same time. My groups i run with have no issues with power yet i can buff them over 110k might no problem. Idk semantics sure but if you ask me, health side is not the way to go.
stealing combos lol? I made my controller artifact video 8 months ago which stated the same I said here. In regards to max health that is all dependent on the group, you are not taking into account that healers are running purple healing ray to restore 20% power back to them and you are not taking into account DPS running EoG spam also restores 2% each second they are in the field. The vit you have from your gear and the skill points is more than enough with claw for the majority of groups.

So in a way you are right- like i said semantics. I just feel like if you crunch the group numbers that way it will at least equal out. Not many dps out there i know use eog unless youre electric or rage. Also i have healers with 200 healing rays that even tho i get power back, i still will need a troll that is giving efficient amount of power. Idk- agree to disagree on that spec for sure

Had a Muni might using Gemini for group members to stand in, he was top dps, we killed ALL adds on first boss, and used no pyres what so ever. So Any power can use Gemini tbh. If group members gonna work together and stand in it, it still works. Depends on group as well.

It's getting to be annoying a little now couple of months back before SM mostly everybody was might, now there's a ton of prec dps and going in a pug raid you have to see what the majority is and everybody starts saying buff me it's like O.o
Yes. If you are a gadgets troll you can use the iconic power “word of power“. It instantly gives you back half of your health with healing over time, restores power overtime like the battle drone minus the shield, and it applies an electrical PI which your other abilities can then do more damage. It’s your regular 5000 super charge cost, but with a 15 second cool down.

also going to be health and vit, power is not required unless you are a mental/light/atomic dps and even then its not that large of a concern just in solo or alert content.
@@pdg90 You have enough vit in your gear and skill points so you can put health in the Affinity mods. I end up leaving them Might because I dps. You really aren't taking enough dmg to warrant aggressive protection I still use Debuff Efficiency and for the 8 mod you could take anything you'd like.
True stat wise but the dps will do less damage since most likely you’ll replace Rao so you’re missing out on the 50% stronger debuff (assuming it’s at 200)

@@Cng215 you lose the 5% but the only way hybrid will sustain power is if you are doing weapon combos between each and every power, if you aren't then superpowered will generate more power for yourself. In a buff build you aren't necessary always going to be doing that so superpowered is the safer bet and the 5% vit is marginal and doesn't impact how much might/prec you buff the group.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, claw has to be 160-200 for it to work. Tetra and Amulet could even be 120 rank technically, it won't change how your spec your skill points?

I troll with Parasite Harness, Strat card and Tetra or Soul Cloak (depending on situation). Do that count as power troll?
Buff trolls aren't for every group. Some groups burn is trash. What's the point of buffing bad burn. Might as well go for survivability.

love the vid! but what i dont agree wit is having claw on all the time. it should be the last arti in ur set up nd ur not een suppose ta hav it on all the time. the set up should be: aor , cog , claw , nd tet . the claw buff only works ery 12s so u should pop it, then switch to tet . when the claw buff runs out u switch it back , pop it , then switch back to tet and repeat . tet and cog can interchange depending on which ur group is running more so u get that amount of buff out the most . or, if you have the money u can run: aor, bop, and then claw while swapping cog and tet . go even further wit rings, para, omegahedron, clarion, lasso, ect. being a troll is the hardest and most expensive roll if u wanna be the best
edit: the reason ur not suppose ta hav claw on alla time is cs it takes away ur ability to power heal with ur group buff .
this video will be redone shortly, this was published before buff trolling involved multiple art swaps and needing BOP.

@@pastoryoda2789 It’s an artifact from the birds of prey episode that at 160 will cast all 3 debuffs at once. It frees up slots in your tray and is perfectly synced with the neck mod 6second cool down

all natural ones will increase your health. If you find you aren't giving enough power for the group you can also do the Vitamin

I've noticed that full buff troll is more friendly to prec dps than might because they use less power consumption.
Yes but to make prec spa work you need high sp. However, most prec artifacts don’t serve controllers that well

The only difference between buff trolling and power trolling is your artifacts and spec. It’s the same rotation and same loadout

You want the heartthrob trinket as a buff troll and not the heartbreak trinket right? I see some trolls using the heartbreak but the heartthrob gives the 5% health, curious to see why they’d use the heartbreak instead then
Heartbreak can provide a stacking def debuff but its random when it occurs so if you dont have a trinket that is 5% health already then yes heartthrob will be the one to use
The problem is with both trolling a lot of the players are unable to sustain power for the group. But they think they're doing their job and above troll must be able to do both
for sure its a balance and extra sp/stats into vit certainly help but like you said there are trolls that won't know they aren't giving enough power by using claw

@@williamfortner8476 the community can be like that which is unfortunate, if you personally are having power issues I would say level the cyborg ally for its passive. Eventually those bad trolls will get enough gear or stats where their vit will be high enough or they give enough supercharge to where power won't be a concern.
Hey I have a question, so me and my group recently started playing again. Seems like power is a little scarce! I run Tet, Rao, and claw. Could I replace claw with B.O.P. Or another to make kind of a mix? I figured I could prioritize Tet, and still provide power. What is your opinion?
Rao would be the only 100% you need, you can certainly swap claw with BOP and go for more power troll build if your group feels like it needs the power.
Claw (Buff Trolle build) prevents power from being giving out to your party. If power is scarce, remove it and be a battery trolle instead.

Maybe 5% of them actualy use Defib/recharge etc. Just spam DPS rotation w shit output of power and dmg, and they dont use their CCing moves to actually CC mobs, just part of their rotation
Im coming back into being a troll is there a difference of advantages for different power sets to be a buff trolls between munitions, gadgets or mental to be above the rest like dps, stealth or less power cost as an advantage?
For a Quantum buff troll what are your base mods you got go 4 Dom or 4 vits?
Also do you go 4 health mods or 4 power mods?

generator mods would be health, dom won't matter so you can do vitalization and for your gear mods you would have health/dom throughout all of them for max buff but you can sub in the top 2 mods for vit if you feel the power out is low

Do weapon mastery combos give you power back if you are spec'd into Hybrid? Or is it just the initial weapon tap that counts?
the actual mastery combo won't but whatever taps or main weapon combo you do leading up to the actual mastery combo will generate power

Good idea you'll have the vuff from claw with no drawbacks in power out.
I use the ring, tetra, and harness. I don't like the claw because you need it at 160 for it to be good. I rather buff the dps more so then anything I don't like the power lose with the claw.
Go with what works for you. Not everyone can do this. This guide is for people that either already had those arts levelled up or for those with money to burn. I have a healer with 200 arts, a might and a pet dps with 200 arts. I'm done paying for arts :/ Gets to the point where it's really not worth it. I buff troll with 160 claw, amulet and parasite, because I had 2 of them anyway for my full power troll (3rd being 160 scrap). I'm not levelling a tetra just for a little extra buff. F the "chase the best" bs lol There will only be other arts in the future that he will tell you are better and you "need" to have them.

@@Shadow497 Well it’s true based on intended purpose. Rao gives you 0 might. Claw gives you max might of 3% and that’s why it’s not absolutely necessary to get it to 200, Urgrund gives 4% max might at 180 rank, but Urgrund buffs group might as well and this is what makes you a buff troll as to where you don’t mind doing some damage but your more so trying to help the group and without these 3, you’re a battle troll or a VIT troll
Damn ppl stealing my combos lol been doing this for months and months now. Also, disagree on the maxed health crap tbh. The trade off is realistically, you will need another troll for power. Which im sure if you did a spreadsheet on that, the grp as a whole- meaning you take all 8 memebers might and add it together- will drop significally since you are losing a dps due to that need for 2 trolls. I think its more benifical for 1 troll who can buff and can power at the same time. My groups i run with have no issues with power yet i can buff them over 110k might no problem. Idk semantics sure but if you ask me, health side is not the way to go.
stealing combos lol? I made my controller artifact video 8 months ago which stated the same I said here. In regards to max health that is all dependent on the group, you are not taking into account that healers are running purple healing ray to restore 20% power back to them and you are not taking into account DPS running EoG spam also restores 2% each second they are in the field. The vit you have from your gear and the skill points is more than enough with claw for the majority of groups.

So in a way you are right- like i said semantics. I just feel like if you crunch the group numbers that way it will at least equal out. Not many dps out there i know use eog unless youre electric or rage. Also i have healers with 200 healing rays that even tho i get power back, i still will need a troll that is giving efficient amount of power. Idk- agree to disagree on that spec for sure

Had a Muni might using Gemini for group members to stand in, he was top dps, we killed ALL adds on first boss, and used no pyres what so ever. So Any power can use Gemini tbh. If group members gonna work together and stand in it, it still works. Depends on group as well.

What loadout should I use for quantum as a buff troll?
It's getting to be annoying a little now couple of months back before SM mostly everybody was might, now there's a ton of prec dps and going in a pug raid you have to see what the majority is and everybody starts saying buff me it's like O.o

Yes. If you are a gadgets troll you can use the iconic power “word of power“. It instantly gives you back half of your health with healing over time, restores power overtime like the battle drone minus the shield, and it applies an electrical PI which your other abilities can then do more damage. It’s your regular 5000 super charge cost, but with a 15 second cool down.

Power animation is the only difference, pick the power you like and use it.
Mental and Gadgets, since you can use stealth to activate supercharges and weapon buffs.

also going to be health and vit, power is not required unless you are a mental/light/atomic dps and even then its not that large of a concern just in solo or alert content.

@@pdg90 You have enough vit in your gear and skill points so you can put health in the Affinity mods. I end up leaving them Might because I dps. You really aren't taking enough dmg to warrant aggressive protection I still use Debuff Efficiency
and for the 8 mod you could take anything you'd like.

True stat wise but the dps will do less damage since most likely you’ll replace Rao so you’re missing out on the 50% stronger debuff (assuming it’s at 200)

Depends what spec, for a pure buff it’s all health but if you can’t sustain the power you have to swap out more vit

@@Cng215 you lose the 5% but the only way hybrid will sustain power is if you are doing weapon combos between each and every power, if you aren't then superpowered will generate more power for yourself. In a buff build you aren't necessary always going to be doing that so superpowered is the safer bet and the 5% vit is marginal and doesn't impact how much might/prec you buff the group.

I am not sure what you are trying to say, claw has to be 160-200 for it to work. Tetra and Amulet could even be 120 rank technically, it won't change how your spec your skill points?
