This game was so terrifying, not just for the spooky ambience, but for the fact that you could never fully dispose of your enemies, and many of them moved about in such weird and unnatural manners. I liked the Silent Hill games by comparison, but for raw fear factor, this game has all in that series beat.
Spot on. Fan of both franchises. Silent Hill does create great atmosphere and disturbing visual and sound effects. Besides that tho with health drinks, ammos, melee weapons, etc makes the game feel like Resident Evil but with nightmarish creatures and atmosphere. Siren, is true survival horror. VERY limited ammos, some characters get melee weapons, some don't. Shibito doesn't die. You're completely helpless and forced to play in stealth. Atmosphere is just so dark and dreadful. I've replayed Silent Hill games in full confidence like i know it on top of my head. But to this day with Siren, i still get scared af to play. The clunky controls, the scarce resources, the helplessness, it's a thing of nightmares.
@@hangguy209 Yep, and I'd forgotten to mention the sight-jacking mechanic; something neither SH or RE possess, and an element that ramps up the tension to the max while you're watching through a shibito's eyes, it suddenly changes directions and closes in on a target--only to realize too late that it's you! I recall that very situation with a sniper shibito, shot me dead just as I recognized its target, lol. I remember how in some areas you could set up makeshift traps, so that whenever a shibito revived, it would get downed again a number of times.
@@Bob.Roberts sightjacking was dreadful af. You're channeling into 1 shibito and then another spots your helpless character. You never feel safe at all! Even with Shiro's overpowered hammer, pistol, rifles, you name it, it's just that dreadful. I remember knocking out shibito Risa with like 1-2 hits with Shiro's hammer and i was like hell yea it's hammer time baby.........and then Risa got back up in like, 10 seconds. And she isn't scripted. She chases and roams the damn hospital like Mr X in RE2 Remake. Shit was scary even tho i know i can knock her out pretty easy. She just revives too fast! Makes me feel unsafe especially with other shibitos around. Rifles are strong but damn the aiming system suck 😆😂😂😂 makes everything a PANIC for the player. It forces you to play in stealth even tho you may have some good weapons. That's the genius of this game. You're never too comfortable anywhere at anytime. Incredible.
Forbidden Siren it's there in my most precious library of the best horror games from PS2 including Fatal Frame, Rule of Rose, Kuon, Haunting Ground and Clock Tower 3.
this game is fantastic. i finished the first one and now i'm finishing the second one. the plot is amazing without loose end and it has a nice soundtrack. i hope this game keep in underground scene, i wouldn't like to see stupid "gamers" saying bullshits about this masterpiece of horror.
I'm close to finishing the second one, but I was never able to beat the first one. The first I've beaten is Blood Curse. And yes, a real gem, and actually the scariest horror series in my opinion just after Project Zero/Fatal Frame
@@shibitoobscura3348 the first one is quite tough. Blood Curse said to be the easiest one, cz it has adapted the western approach for wider audience. ( & better gameplay too)
@@m.adhiyaksaaryawisesa231 I'm aware of all that, I've played and beaten all three of them. The first one was definitely the toughest to beat. The second one is my personal favourite. Blood Curse was definitely adapted for a wider audience and more player-friendly, even though I'm not a big fan of some choices they made. I'm still a big fan of the whole series and its extended universe (mangas, novelisation, movie adaptation) but the two first PS2 games are my personal favourite.
Been on a survival horror game binge and I haven't even finished this game but I can confidently say this is the scariest horror game I've played. Yes, even scarier than Silent Hill 2, I just can't bring myself to play more than 1-2 missions a day because the atmosphere is so creepy. The PS2 graphics lend to making it uncanny and I think even if they did remake it, it would fail to be scary as this.
They actually did an Americanized remake. Blood Curse. I haven't played it but I've seen a pretty in-depth walkthrough - it's good but it's not as good as this. The biggest downgrade is the graphics (which sounds weird but the facial capture they used for this game is so much better than whatever mocap they used in SBC)
-Silent hill wins because it has some iconic horror sound design that usually sounds like a broken washing machine. It's unexpected which makes it creepy. Makes it feel like I'm exploring unknown territory. -Siren is good too. it's mostly cinematic and consistent in it's theme which I also like. But if I had to choose one, I'd have to give it to Silent Hill for just being weirder. I like Siren's cultish main themes though. Much creepier than silent hill's cringe alternative rock music.

Ill just put the car on top of them…

01:09:47 I love how this whole soundtrack is mostly spooky ambiance pieces and then there's just... this.
I know, it's a work of art
all i heard is ueg..haooh..urgh..itsk..
2:31 Team Silent put that music in Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4.. cool to hear it in this game as well..
I have to admit this game was even creepier than resident evil
One of the BEST horror soundtracks. Its not looped trash. Its literally full ambient terror
Perfect soundtrack to reading book about ghosts Yurei

It's weird that the Mana River Construction Site theme is nearly 5 minutes long, but the stage takes no more than a minute to complete.
Fantastic soundtrack for a fantastic game. The Forbidden Siren is a masterpiece in all of its aspects.

Ok, let's do a little "battle"! Forbidden SIREN Soundtracks Vs. Silent Hill Soundtracks! Please, voting now.

How is this Naruto if I may ask?
@@Sen-115DK there was a sound like that from the beginning in Naruto during a confrontation I think. Can't remember which series or episode it was.
