For me,personally, love the sound of the PST 7's. Eyes shut, just listening, bright sharp n crisp, great choice for the price point. The other two series to low in pitch for me.Thanks Brother, happy new year😊❤
@broeheemed32 yeah, sorry in the UK, we say this.If your looking at purchasing something and you have a financial budget,it's fantastic for what your max spend is,hope that helps😊👍
Or another way to say it is Good,Better or Best Eg Yamaha Stage custom Yamaha Recording Custom Yamaha Phx. Most companies work on this marketing process, but not all
@MadWinter889 Yeah, the 900s kinda seem like the equivalent of the Classics Custom line for Meinl. My guess is there are a couple of gems in the 900 line-up, but most of them have an annoying overtone.
@@DevenKhanna-sm5mq Yeah, the crashes sound clunky and too heavy to me. A pity since they replaced the Alphas which had awesome crashes in my opinion. With that said, the 900 15' hi-hat is great, and specifically the 22' 900 heavy ride colorsound is amazing, like a budget Blue Bell Ride.
@ I looked up some other videos. I hated the color tone cymbals. The 900s that didn’t have the color finish sounded pretty solid. I liked the hats, the ride, and China. I didn’t quite like the crashes, especially the smaller ones, but I’m very picky because I’ve been blessed and spoiled by playing high-end cymbals for years.
Hmmmm….🤔 I seldom hear a Paiste I don’t like in some form or fashion. Nice comparison video and playing! Happy New Year and thanks for the inspiration!😎🥁
The PST7s sounded a little bright on their own, but good in the mix. I was surprised how good those color sounds were. The other demos I've watched had them sounding kind of lifeless (best way I could describe it). The Masters sounded great on their own and with the music.
I’m playing all Wuhan Western series, and they’re B20 and dirt cheap. They actually sound great kinda similar to AAX in my opinion. Budget doesn’t always mean bad sounding for sure….👍🏻
Happy new year Joe! I have a full set of PST7's and I never regret buying them. Asked you last summer via Instagram DM's if you could tell me more about them (was looking after new cymbals at this time). You recommendend me the PST7 because they're such a great deal! I'll be forver thankful that you encouraged me in my decision.
My wife was nice enough to buy me some PST7 cymbals last year and they came in a pack of four! Very good price and value for the money 💴! Thanks 🙏 brother for sharing your video!
I've been using the PST7 series for rehearsal/practicing for about two years now, saving the life of the 2002s/Giant beats for gigs and more serious recording. In a low-volume setting, the 7s are excellent.
Does price matter? Well I don’t have the best ear, but with my ear duds in, it certainly does. To me, even the cheapest set sounds good, but as the price goes up, so does the sound quality. This is a great comparison the way you jumped between cymbals in a rapid manner. In so many o the sound comparisons, there is such a gap between switching that by the time the drummer goes through demonstrating the sound of whatever is being rated, I forget what the others sounded like😵💫. Also, Joey, you did a great job with your song choice to hi-lite the cymbal sounds, and your drumming was top shelf. Happy new year to you, my young friend.❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
They all sound fine...just a matter of preference....Crisp and fast...or dark and washy.....I have a set of color sound hats I've been using for almost 40 years
For me, price absolutely matters with cymbals. Good heads, technique, and tuning can make a cheap kit sound good, but with cymbals there's less wiggle room. Absolutely there are some cheap gems out there and tastes differ, but on the whole, you get more for your money with cymbal choices.
I like the sound of the PST 7. I've been a drummer (gigging, recording, light touring) since 1989. I've owned Zildjian K, Meinle Byzance etc.... As a current Meinl player, I STILL think the PST7 sounds best (in my opinion). Ive always like the 2002 line and feel these are quite similar (same alloys used I believe). Bright. I like them a lot.
I like them all! Even "crappy sounding" cymbals sound good in the right spot. Nicko had a 13" heavy bell that he used in spots in a few Iron Maiden songs. It's an incredible sound, but you would never use that as the crash in what you were just playing. Or a gong as a splash. Well you would do that 😂. I know those are extreme cases, but it's true. All that being said, some cymbals just sound like crap in general. None of these do! Paiste is also to me, the only company who can make B8 bronze sound incredible! And also charge a lot for it. Every cymbal John Bonham played was B8 Paiste. Think about that. But Sabian B8 series are not the greatest sounding cymbals. It's the craftsmanship as well as the design, but every cymbal sound has a place. These are all good sounding. Most people put down all the PSTs. I find the 7 and up sound quite good.
It think a more fair comparison would have been 2002s on the high end. That being said, as always the PST7s punched well above their weight and I’ve heard a ton of the 900 series, this is the first time I have actually liked them. Normally they sound pretty terrible in my opinion. Maybe that crash being a 20” helped? Idk, but happy new year and thanks for the great videos!
Masters for the Hats, PST7's for the rest. Especially in context, the PST7's jump out at you without sounding harsh, the others leave something to be desired IMO.
To me the 900s always feel too thick. The pst7 cymbals don't sound bad but have some shrill tones coming through, especially when crashing the ride. The Masters Dark mk1 was always my dream ride until i came across a Paiste Master Bluebird mellow ride at a drum convention and now I'm the proud owner of that. You can't really go wrong with Paiste though (but i do really hate the Rude series despite having loved them in the past)
I never tried them, but I have 15” sound edge. 18” thin crash an 22” ride from 2002 red logo. I can listen well the big differences between 2002 and pst7. But they are made of the same metal. Anyway, my little opinion is masters>900>pst7. Masters dark are crazy. I don’t like the sound of 900 but pst7 sounded very cheap. Wait: cheap are the overtones. Instantly they sound like my 2002, but after the drumstick hit the cymbal, all overtones sounded like pst5 (that I hate) and a lot cheaper. Maybe the best is to have pst7 mixed with 2002 if can’t affort all 2002 series.
HAPPY NEW YEARS BROTHERS AND SISTERS
For me,personally, love the sound of the PST 7's. Eyes shut, just listening, bright sharp n crisp, great choice for the price point. The other two series to low in pitch for me.Thanks Brother, happy new year😊❤
Price "point"?
@broeheemed32 yeah, sorry in the UK, we say this.If your looking at purchasing something and you have a financial budget,it's fantastic for what your max spend is,hope that helps😊👍
Just Google "price point" meaning, it's hard to describe, but it makes better sense😊👍
We say price point in Canada too I thought it was a common saying when referring to a budget
Or another way to say it is
Good,Better or Best
Eg Yamaha Stage custom
Yamaha Recording Custom
Yamaha Phx. Most companies work on this marketing process, but not all
For me it’s
1) Masters dark
2) PST7
3) Colour sound
The colour sound crash and ride don’t open up as well as the rest
Probably because they're coated with paint, which is the same as slspping a bunch of tape on it. The regular 900s sound a little better
Paiste is great. That said, I never liked any 900 crash. Overall I'd rank them Masters>900>Pst7, in crash alone probably Masters>Pst7>900.

I got the Paiste PST7 pack from ZZounds after using Sabian and Zildjian forever. Great cymbals.
Hmmmm….🤔 I seldom hear a Paiste I don’t like in some form or fashion. Nice comparison video and playing! Happy New Year and thanks for the inspiration!😎🥁
Man… I’m digging the Color sound cymbals for sound and the visuals ! Good job ! Thanks !
Just ordered a used pst7 17" crash. Super excited for it to arrive
No question the masters instantly sound 10 times better to my ears than the other two sets
The PST7s sounded a little bright on their own, but good in the mix. I was surprised how good those color sounds were. The other demos I've watched had them sounding kind of lifeless (best way I could describe it). The Masters sounded great on their own and with the music.
Personally, I preferred the mid-range cymbals, particularly the ride and crash in mid-range, but I did like the high end hi-hat better.
Thank you for an enjoyable and excellent comparison video

Nobody's getting MY whole arsenal in there 😂 Thanks for the demo gov. Always had a soft spot for the colour sounds.
Brother I love my PST7 cymbals. They sound great, they are super durable, they look nice, and they are very affordable.
Happy New Year Broootherrrrr🎉 Great job on the editing in this video, I can imagine that took a great deal of work!
The PST7 Ride is in fact, the perfect cymbal. Love it!
I liked the Color Sound cymbals the best. Nice tones all around.
You really get what you pay for. This clip testifying it quite clearly 🙂

thank you!

You should try the pst7 18 and 19 thin crashes. They are just beautyfull sounding cymbals

I mix Colorsound 900 with Modern Essentials because I'm a BAMF.
Hey man do you think you could do a video on pork pie snares all good if you can’t 👍
that masters hats is soo tasty 🤤 is it the 15'?
For "cheaper" cymbals, the PST7's are fantastic!!
First... nice groove. As expected when played with the music... you can barely hear a difference
The Master series sounds great, not great enough to make me switch from Sabian, but still very nice indeed.
1:45 Lol this is what my mind kept playing as you did this😂

I think most cymbal company have a pattern: the cheaper, the brighter
I never tried them, but I have 15” sound edge. 18” thin crash an 22” ride from 2002 red logo. I can listen well the big differences between 2002 and pst7. But they are made of the same metal.

I Love the PST7 😅
Love the p s seven crash
Pst7's might be the best value for money cymbals
Only if you forgot about istanbul mehmet, centent etc
Color sound sounds the best to me
I hate coated cymbals, they sound like shit. But that 900 heavy ride sounds sick as fuck
Those Masters are not worth that money? The hi hats sound great! But the Colorsound sounds best all around!!!
Couldn't really hear all the nuance's of cymbals with the music being too loud.
That’s the point, it’s in the mix example, he already did them isolated
@Gramkan well I guess I missed that
Dark masters sound best to me
The mids sound better
Masters worth the money. Buy once, cry once.
To be honest pst7
I think the cheap ones sound better. Or am i gay or something.
Or something.
color sounds are diabolically ugly
All of them should great
Lol wat? Pst7 is a budget? It's a medium range cymbals, not a budget.
