I'd say the powdered melon giant crop might be my favorite design wise, it's so smooth and shiny! It's everything I wish the melon was edit: now that i've played a full year with these guys, i'm very disappointed by them. the carrot is great for the first spring, but then it's exclusively the horse's snack after getting cows. the summer squash and broccoli is easily overshadowed by the classic ones. but the biggest disappointment is the powder melon. other than the giant crop(still looks great) it's worse than planting winter foraging instead. I do admit this is the minmax side of me complaining and i fully understand it's not about the most gain
Powdermellons are op for the dehydrator. If you have a junimo hut there’s no reason you shouldn’t just plant a bunch and forget about them. The raccoon sells seeds for pinecones so u can just stock up for the year and plant like 200 or so at once
The powder melon are amazing! I made a new playthrough for 1.6 and they are a very good source of money in year 1, you can start getting them in the last week of fall and throughout all of winter, throw some of them in a seed maker and you'll have a very profitable winter 😊
I feel like because you have to use the seed maker, at least in year 1, you're more likely to make a ton of money on the wild seeds because by then you're probably at almost 10 foraging anyway. Carrots have something of a similar problem with snowballing because their production time is potentially so short(with speed grow, 2 days) you won't be able to process all your seeds year 1.
I wish you could buy them so I can have like huge carrot crops or whatever it may be. Seems like you can only get a couple at a time? I guess the seed maker in later game could help, right? I never got that far lol I always start new farms like a dumb dumb haha. Edit: guys this isn’t an april fools joke. I read the patch notes days ago lol
In 1.6 two new large crops were added, the powdermelon & the qi “bean” - so no big carrot unfortunately! But yes, the seed maker works for these & there is also somewhere you can purchase them later! (but that’s a spoiler for another time lol)
It's legitimate plants! I've grown all 4 in stardew recently. Haven't seen the giant powder melon before, but I imagine it's probably legitimate since the regular melons do that-
i grew a lot of summer squashes in my new save, and though they may not be the best summer money maker they're a great easy energy source! im gonna be saving loads for eating on mining trips! for those interested, regular = 63 energy, 28 health silver = 88 energy, 39 health gold = 113 energy, 50 health not half bad for a year 1 food source! especially given that you don't have to pay for the seeds 😉
i'd say hops are more reliable, mostly because they regrow every single day after the first harvest. for money, blueberry's multiple crop per harvest might still be better than the squash, and the seeds are more reliably obtained. and if you have the desert unlocked, starfruit trumps it big time
I remember playing this game. Those are cool new crops, but I don't think I'm gonna let go of my min-maxed farm where everything is planted to max efficiency.
I love the idea of farming during winter. I have lots of mods that include winter crops. The only Harvest Moon game that I played that had winter crops was Harvest Moon 2 GBC.
I dont know why I dislike the powdermelons as much as I do beyond winter being the one season I can just deep dive in the desert or staycation on Ginger Island til spring.
Ironically, I farm as little as possible on almost all my saves and prefer ranching. But it is definitely nice to finally have carrots, squash and broccoli in the game!
I started a completely new run for this update and now I feel so dumb for ignoring those new small spots on the ground thinking it’s normal ground detail, I’ve been missing out on so much already
The powder melon sounds wierd... i liked the idea that you have to tend to your animals and go mining in winter.. But now its like, oh yeah, we just have a water melon that can survive snow Maybe if it was rare and the genimos gave it to you
I love farming but I’m mad at Broccoli.. I have gotten BAGS of Broccoli seeds like a million times already just fishing.. GIVE ME TREASURES!! NOT BROCCOLI!!
Something else I've noticed is the prices of these crops are different to other items, the gold sells for the least amount of money. So you can save the gold ones for the most energy and sell the rest. Broccoli is worth the most.
Anyone know if he added the option to extend the day cycle, like in Roots of Pacha? Juat very curious because it is very hard to relax in Stardew, but i love it so much
* you can get them from a shop but you have to finish a side quest for it
But spoiler
You can get them in the racon wife shop
I suppose I should’ve clarified in the video that I meant it can’t be purchased at the regular shops like Pierre’s & The Oasis.😅 Thanks for posting!
Also you can't buy them with money, it's more like the desert shop or the shops in ginger island, you have to pay with other resources

I was about to put "Raccoon wife: am I a joke to you?"
Its funny how the cave carrot was here before the actual carrot released
The wild version should always been there first than the framed types
You can give your horse a carrot too.
You can? I've never gotten a horse in Stardew Valley but knowing I can feed it a carrot makes me want to get one for some odd reason.
@drewwilson7802 yes, it's a part of the 1.6 update. It'll also give your horse a speed boost for the day too.
Good tip. Thank you!

Now to just wait for cucumbers so we can make actual genuine pickles
We probably won't have a 1.7, unfortunately

So that’s why I’ve been finding carrot seeds in the ground everywhere 🤔😂
Pls I thought I downloaded a mod 😭
I can’t believe it took this long for the game to have Carrots and Broccoli as crops
Like those are two of the first vegetables that come to my mind
Lowkey kinda excited for the summer squash bc when my family used to garden in the summer they always grew squash bc my grandma loves it
Me too! My grandma ALWAYS had a huge garden!

Yes, right?! The pink melon just looks like a tiny moon with an extra bad case of acne.😢
I want to try powdermelon so bad

R.i.p Nintendo switch players waiting for the update 😭
Thats me
Rip mobile
And mobile! I got PC for that reason. And the mods like SVE and Ridgeside Village!
Ikr I have it on steam but don’t have a computer that’ll work, just waiting for that switch update
I was playing a lot on my switch until the update came out. I had to swap back to PC real fast. 😅

Winter is a great time to harvest a ton of powder melons and make them all into wine, dried fruit, and more.
Carrot, Squash, Broccoli, and

the way my jaw DROPPED when i saw the amount of energy that a carrot gives you 😭

Thank u for yours videos❤
Thanks for watching!💜

I can’t wait for mobile and Nintendo people to get the update ;-;

Yes
I’m loving the new update and starting a new game to play through. The remix bundles are making it more challenging to complete the community center.
Carrot seeds are most found in boxes in the mines around levels 20 to 40

This game is 10/10, years later still geting great updates, I don't know how Ape and his team does it.
I am so happy you could now farm in winter gotta make that Extra cash!😊

I'm honestly surprised carrots weren't one of the first crops added to the game.
Really happy I came across this. Can't wait for the new update to come out on console
THE FACE I FR MADE WHEN I SAW CARROTS-
I’ve been waiting for this day for years 😭
“If you’re big into farming in stardew valley” isn’t really a sentence I thought I would hear ever.
I love the idea of farming during winter. I have lots of mods that include winter crops. The only Harvest Moon game that I played that had winter crops was Harvest Moon 2 GBC.
i'm sad that they're still worse than winter foraging seed though. how could it be worse than the crocus, which is the lowest value one!?
There’s now a crop that can grow in the cold of winter
Ooh wow. That much energy from a spring crop is huge in the early game.
I dont know why I dislike the powdermelons as much as I do beyond winter being the one season I can just deep dive in the desert or staycation on Ginger Island til spring.
I love not having much to do in winter because I can just use that time to fish and do missions.
Ill just cry in this corner right here

Omg I got carrot seeds on accident because the little wiggle waggle-ing of the grass was annoying me and I wanted to get rid of it
Look he got me the first time I found carrot seeds XD

Junimo you should do a playthrough 🙏🙏🙏 love the content
“Are you big?”
Carrot's should help you see in the dark mine floors

I sooooooooo extremely jealous with pc players.. We mobile players have to wait couple of years for this update 😭😭😭
An actual winter crop omg
there’s also joja fruit and joja veg
I can't wait until it's finally added to switch
