Sultan Baybars I is one of the strongest Muslim rulers of the era of the Crusades. By origin he was a Polovtsian or, in other words, a Kipchak. Having fallen into Mongol slavery, he ended up in Egypt, where he became a Mamluk.
Baybars made his name at the Battle of Ain Jalut, where his troops defeated the Mongol army of Kit Bugi. Then Abul Futuh himself became a Mamluk sultan. Having come to power, he earned authority in the Muslim world, entered into alliances with the Rum Sultanate, Byzantium, the Georgian kingdoms and, most importantly, the Golden Horde.
Having become the ruler of the Mamluk Sultanate, Baybars, who crushed the Crusaders and Mongols, entered the history of Egypt forever.
