Found this video only now and not sure you if you are still making videos (which are always the more educational one can find here - when it comes to sailign). supper cool. Does Navionics have the ability to load custom maps or some other means of "annotation" ? Unrelated, would be cool to have a video on which apps you use for what and how you use them together.

Navionics can't load custom maps that I know of but they have three chart options to choose from: sonar charts (crowdsourced), navionics charts (the standard) and 'government' charts (though I've only seen these in the USA). This video goes over those options a bit: ua-cam.com/video/moyZxL636Nk/v-deo.html
You can contribute user data to/through Navionics to their database. You can also create your own waypoints. Those are the only ways that I know of to annotate navionics charts.
All the apps I use? That's an interesting idea for a video, thanks for the suggestion!

Great video thanks. I am understanding you correctly that while sailing you were using the SailGrib VR app for navigation?
I thought it only used for weather routing and normally I use ISailor.
Also charts made this way is only raster right? So nav features like warning about low depth spots won't work, correct?
    Thanks again.
    Kind regards, Peter

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I was using SailGrib WR with this custom chart and Navionics for navigation on my smartphone in Thailand. Both got plenty of use.
You are correct that this is a raster only customization and the implications about what the app doesn't know about the chart it is displaying.

As I wrote earlier I always use iSailor which is very similar to Navionics. But at least in iSailor I can add user objects, text, anchor buyes and other stuff right there in the App. That Means I am still using the standard vector maps with all feature but with my own additions. So forexample I tend to add all the fishing Places I come by so they are easier to avoid when I sail at night :)In iSailor the user can also decide to share these objects with other users.I think that Navionics has similar features.

iSailor sounds pretty useful. I'm gonna give it a trial run :)
You can customize Navionics using "community edits" which are shared with all users. You can customize your own charts using tracks, waypoints and routes which are supposed to sync between devices but I've never gotten them to sync (not that I've tried that hard). Unfortunately I find I have to reinstall Navionics about once a year to keep it working whereupon I lose all of my track, route and waypoint information. Never tried to make a "community edit".
I prefer raster charts over vector charts where available: savvysalt.com/blog/raster-vs-vector-charts-why-i-dont-trust-vector-charts/ - that's why I jumped all over figuring out how to load the raster chart onto my phone when one was provided.
