    Good rain gear is a must for those of us who don't "winterize" our bikes!

      I don't even know what that means. I ride year round. Then again, I don't have snow.

    Thanks for the wonderful video, and a huge thanks for not ruining it with crappy background music.
    I don't know why some people are compelled to add annoying background music throughout their videos. A little during the intro & outro I can deal with.

    Wait what were you calling it? Balavaca? Haha. It's Balaclava

      Ha ha;). I just learned this word last year so give me a break 🤣. Ya I’ve heard good things about those mitts. The cop that pulled me over last year when it was cold had them.

      First time he said it I thought he said “bottle of vodka inside the helmet”. 😬😂
      Great video as always. Keep ‘em coming.

    I like 1 piece rain suits. 2 piece ones the jacket can ride up and water can get under the jacket on the highway. You can wear any clothes in your closet under a 1 piece rain suit. Including a heavy thick leather with a liner or a winter jacket. Or just a t-shirt. Good video 👍😎

    Just rode back home after buying my first bike. My hands were freezing cus of the wind and rain, definitely need to get better gloves.

    Boots, like a bollavaca for your feet.

    I prefer a long face mask that comes down below the neck over a balaclava. I like adding those cheapie $20-$25 slip over rain cover boots over my regular boots. Thanks for the vids.

    It is our 3 months of rain here in Wales, feel your need for great gear at a good price! Only it is real short daylight just now, so riding back and for to work in the dark , man. Trying to see them floods in the dark is a nightmare!! Great Quality with the OM t-shirt Michael. Nearly got the 6K!! Stay lucky. Happy Christmas too!!

    The website waymarking has gps coordinates for the oc mint. The coins are known as Beaver coins and are worth around $125,000 if you can find one. Oregon State Capital Foundation has some info on them. Just letting you know if by slim chance you didn't run across these sites. Oh, if you find any coins pick me up a couple, wouldcha? ;)

    I got the same bike up here in the PNW as well. What tires are you running that you feel so confident in the rain with?

    • @OregonMotorcycle

      Dunlop Trailmax Mission. Check out this vid to get my overall opinion on them. ua-cam.com/video/3qaUd4-6Aik/v-deo.html

      I am up in Seattle. Yes, riding in the rain is a MUST if you want to ride. Most important thing for me is wind blockage at the base layer. Cycle gear has a thermal layer that includes a wind block on the front, works really well. Worst part for me is my glasses. :( I don’t have a pin lock, got a cheap insert that really helps. The Balaclava is REALLY important to block the neck, that was a new thing for me this year.

    Hey there, love your videos! Do you think your Honda would make a good beginner bike? Would that be too powerful of a bike to learn on? Thanks! :)

    • @jasonshortphd
      @jasonshortphd 3 роки тому +1

      Any of the 500cc Honda bikes are GREAT bikes for learning. I bought a CMX500 for my 20yo daughter this year and she loves it. Not too heavy, and very forgiving.

    • @catalinaruiz5223
      @catalinaruiz5223 3 роки тому

      @@jasonshortphd I was actually considering a CMX500, and that’s good to know! The dream bike would be a triumph scrambler 900. My buddy thinks I would even be fine starting off on that (that’s what he did). What do you think?

    • @FrostyPixelsOG
      @FrostyPixelsOG 3 роки тому +1

      @@catalinaruiz5223 900cc is a whole new beast. I technically started on a 125cc 4stroke pit/dirt bike, but my first real bike is my 650 V-Strom. If you can, try renting one of those 900's, but just be REAL careful about the throttle, because it is absolutely SAVAGE.
      Bikes that are 650 and under are genwerally a little more forgiving on the throttle than the liter (or almost liter) bikes.
      What you'll find, is that if you start on a liter bike, it'll scare the absolute shit out of you, to the point that you may not even want to ride it.
      In my opinion, you'll be able to handle and have more fun with a smaller bike when you start out.
      OH, and btw, when I made the switch from my shoddy little 125cc to my 650 V-Strom, it also scared the shit out of me, but because I had good riding principles in my mind, and some practice with the small bike, I was able to handle it pretty well after 20 minutes or so. I think if I tried to buy a liter bike right off the bat, I may have gotten seriously injured.
      For example, I dropped the clutch on the pit bike, and damn near broke my head (luckily, I was moving slow, and ditched the bike at the right time, and then ran it off).
      Once you have experience and comfort on a smaller bike, you will be a lot more comfortable and responsible enough to understand how to handle a liter bike.
      If you REALLY REALLY want a liter bike, rent one out before buying one so you can be absolutely sure that you can even handle it.
      I can't even tell you the number of liter bikes I've seen online, lightly used or absolutely trashed, mostly because the rider was too inexperienced to handle it.
      Hope this helps, God bless.

      The cb500x is a great beginner bike if your comfortable with the seat height. Just about anyone can start on a larger bike, but everyone that does, will learn at a slower rate. Your going to be spending years honing your MC skills while putting your life in danger. Would you rather learn faster or slower?

    • @jasonshortphd
      @jasonshortphd 3 роки тому +1

      @@catalinaruiz5223 I would not start on a Scramber. The center of gravity is very different. You need a different set of skills for that ride. 500x has a low center of gravity and doesn’t feel too heavy. It would be a better starter bike.
