I absolutely agree that as a reader, you need to separate the Bridgeton books from the TV adaptations. I think that’s why Eloise’s book usually gets such a bad rap! Eloise isn’t exactly the same character in the novels as she is on screen. And I LOVE her book, “To Sir Phillip, With Love”. I think the hero is flawed and the themes much more nuanced than the other novels. It’s my top pick as well. Great to hear from someone who appreciates this instalment in the Bridgeton series. Well done and thank you.
Eloise's book has been getting bad rep since way before Shonda ever learned about the series. All regency romance is essentially a "pick your poison" kind of book, with most heroes being some type of toxic. But Phillip raping his mentally ill wife until she commits suicide (yes, because of depression, but I'm sure her husband raping her didn't help her mental health), and treating Eloise as a sex toy and refusing to communicate outside of bedroom all were issues readers had with the book all on its own merit, without the show ever filming pretty actors as main cast.

I appreciate your opinion. But An Offer From a Gentleman is the best one. 😂

I have never read any of the Bridgerton series but you'll still get my view haha
