This is such a beneficial video. I make lists all the time, so helpful. I'm old LOL (75) so I didn't grow up with social media. I came to Facebook back in 2007 or 08 but closed my account 3 years ago. I keep IG to share my poetry and art but am seriously thinking of closing the account and opening a bookstagram. I'm a physical book reader and being retired I have lots of time to read. One thing that makes me aware of how much time I spend on my phone is every Sunday my phone tells me the my average time each day that week---eye opening.

I don’t do a lot of social media either. I have them but I don’t check them. I should probably delete them. Everyone knows to text me. I scroll UA-cam and discord and that’s about it. I’m much happier that way.

I've never heard of Kindle "scrolling" before. That's super cool and def a great way to scratch that metaphorical itch!

It's always fun to catch up on your older videos that I had missed. I loved Rock Paper Scissors and read it after hearing you recommend it. My colleague told me earlier this week that she's just finished the audiobook as well after I had passed on this title suggestion to her and she also thought it was really good, so it looks like a lot of us enjoyed this one.

Thanks for your review, Zac - this is one of the 2025 releases that I was curious about. I've got a couple of Clare Macintosh books on loan from the library (The Last Party and A Game of Lies) so those are some of the next thrillers on my TBR. I just finished A Frozen River from Ariel Lawhon on audiobook yesterday and this was a five stars for me. I enjoyed the narrator's voice as well.

I got this book from BOTM in December. It's up next to read. I've read all of Alice Feeney's books and liked them all. His and Hers was my least favorite.

I gave it 5 stars and feel like my reading experience was very different than your listening experience. I didn’t have any jump scares or any time wave experiences. I read it in a couple of sittings which is ultimately what I want in a thriller. Once you read 50-plus thrillers, it’s hard to be “wow-ed” by a twist. Given your experience, I’ll listen to the audio at some point. It will make a great road trip book.

Question: I usually don’t like Alice F. because I find her “plot twists” very Scooby Dooey. Those who’ve read this book, is it your typical silly Alice F or is it better?

I also did the arc of this book and thought is was absolutely fantastic....until the end!!! I HATED it, I thought the ending was wholly unnecessary and not deserved, it didn't make any sense and there was not warnings or Easter eggs, foreshadowing about the big reveal. It was so abrupt. A theme in the last few Alice Feeney books is all the characters are women, the (one of two) men are the enemies, and all men are no good and useless. I work in a bookstore and three of us read the arc and we did have a huge discussion about it, we were all in agreement, which is similar to your review.

I did not feel this at all and it makes me so mad lol I love Alice feeney but ugh this one 😠

I've never read Adrienne Young but got her latest from BOTM. I'll let you know what I think. I was interested in Cross My Heart. Sounds like an interesting premise. But I do not like Freida McFadden at all, so I'll see. I wasn't interested in The Favorites until I saw this video, I'll try it. I have 45 physical books on my shelves I haven't read yet. YIKES!!

I've already preordered the audiobook for Layne Fargo's The Favorites. I rarely preorder. I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks for the video. I hope you're feeling 100% soon.

I DNF'd Daisy Jones and the Six as well. I also am not a fan of the "band" trope. I did like The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

I love TJR but Daisy Jones was very meh for me. The only reason I would recommend it is for completionists of her books since it references the other books in her universe since Evelyn Hugo but even then it’s not a must read.

I felt the same way about Daisy Jones; it was the epitome of privileged White people problems and I found the characters to be insufferable.

I didn't enjoy Daisy Jones and the Six either. So glad someone else feels the same. I like almost all of Taylor Jenkins Reid's books.

Glad you're feeling better! I've added several of the ones here on my wish list (The Crash, Cross My Heart, and Close Your Eyes and Count to 10). I have Grady Hendrix and Suzanna Collins' newest on the list, and I got the new Alice Feeney last month in a book of the month box but haven't read it yet. Most of the to-be-released books on my list come in the middle to latter half of the year.
