I can believe it, mine was a bit of a shed but it rode really well and to date it's still the only bike I have scraped my foot on a roundabout! she definitely husltled!
Still a great bike, loads of torque. Just renovated 3 of these and in the process of turning one into a naked Streetfighter/Bobber. Really looking forward to the first ride.
Unless Yamaha customizes their paint schemes by country, that is a 1989 model year FJ1200. I know because I bought one in May 1989 and rode it for 55,000 wonderful miles. And then it got stolen. It was great while it lasted, though.
Im considering one of these for my next bike, what are they like for seating position as Im 6,4 and long legged. I have seen a few cafe (naked style bikes) I quite like the look of them to be honest!
It's been a while since I had this bike, but I will say I'm 5'8 and my inside leg is 28 inches and I could flat foot it. But it was mega comfy and I could ride it for hours. HTH
Good to see you back, it's been a while! Looks like you have been busy. A bike for winter is something I will be considering for next year if I can afford it. Will you be going on the Svengalie memorial ride this year? Also there is a motovlogger meet at the Ace Cafe on 28th Feb.
Ah yes, hopefully the shifts work in your favour. There is also a motovlogger meet at the ace cafe next Saturday, should be good if the weather is okay.
220kg? Id consider that light compared to my 125 :O With fuel and everything else I think its around 170kg! Got a project bike myself :D It had been laid up 20 or so years. None of this fancy electric start ;) That took some persuading to start! First time kicking it nearly threw me over the bars! Hopefully I will have perfected before I am 19 :)
That engine sounds sweet..
Love the older bikes from the 80's and 90's.
She don't sound bad for 80,000 miles.
one of the best bike`s i`ve had and still got an 1988 3cv love it

An ideal winter bike to save the wear and tear on your triple.
Yes I think it will be perfect as a winter hack :)
Love it! I hope you still have it and riding it.
Alas no I don't have it anymore but I will have found memories of it - it was a great bike the engine pulled well :)

She's now gone but was a great bike. I can see why they have such a following.

Cheers Phil, I would like to attend the Svengalie memorial but will need to check my work roster hopefully it will be on a day when I'm not working.

Really want a project bike or mine to blow up, excuse for another one and fix that !
I can see your logic,it's good to have something to work on but it can be very frustrating at the same time.

What project bike have you got? My triple weighs in at around 180kg so its a bit different to that :)
My project bike is a Yamaha XT500 :D Lovely bike when you have got it running :)
I can't believe my 125 is as heavy as a 675 :O
