My grandmother...naani...lived closed to Jalianwala Bagh as a kid. She saw many bodies being brought out and laid in the street in front of their house. When she talked about that day it was always with a horrified look on her face.

Everyone knows about jalianwala bagh 1919 but not a lot know about udham singh. This movie is about post jalianwala bagh incident, you will get to know why udham singh is shown in London and the opening dialoge about 20 years. This looks amazing.
I wish one day someone makes a film on Bagha Jatin. Such a towering figure in pre-independence Bengal revolution that Bhagat Singh used to keep his photo with him! In fact Kolkata was the hotbed of revolutionary activities that time, but hardly any film either in Bengali or Hindi! Satyajit Ray once thought of making a documentary on him but sadly it didn't materialize.

This is one of the best Oscar worthy Bollywood trailer I have seen in a few years . The cinematography ,acting and casting 🔥🔥was next level . I hope the story also catch up with these factors . You forget 'October' film ..I have never seen such a love story and portrayed in such a way....it's onr of my favourite Shoojit sarcar movies... The makers of this film have successfully recreated London and Britain of that era and it reminded me of the British series "Peaky Blinders" as that series also recreated the 80s Birmingham and other parts of England brilliantly. A film of this scale and standard deserves a theatrical release but sadly that's not gonna happen. The producers could've and probably should've waited for the theatres to re-open. Shoojit Sircar is a special filmmaker/storyteller. He made slice-of-life, light hearted films like "Piku" , "Vicky Donor" , "Gulabo Sitabo" and then he made a film like "October" which is a slow burn character study. And as we can see he is also capable of successfully pulling off big budget, grand scale films like "Madras Cafe" and "Sardar Udham". He is a versatile director and I'm very proud of the fact that he is a Bengali and he is from my city Barrackpore 😊 Edit: Good to see Korbin also felt the same and got the "Peaky Blinders" vibe. Actually I wrote the comment first and then watched their reaction so yeah...

We used to live in "Udham Singh Nagar", now in Uttarakhand. Earlier the town/district (I'm not sure) was called "Sitarganj" but was renamed in his honor.

We used to live in "Udham Singh Nagar", now in Uttarakhand. Earlier the town/district (I'm not sure) was called "Sitarganj" but was renamed in his honor.

Raj babbar made a movie on this topic in the year 2000. It was made in both punjabi & hindi. Had him in the lead role. Then some cameos by joohi chawala, Amrish puri, Divya Dutta. Movie name was Shaheed udham singh. The movie was quite good although this one looks even better.
