Not enough clips with Dylan and Norma. He went through a lot with her and they got closer. But season 4 Norma revealed her priority will always be Norman at the expense of her relationship with Dylan. I love Dylan Massett, an important character that does not get enough recognition.
Norma recognized Dylan could handle himself. It's too bad their last conversation was so bad (though she does run after him), but their relationship had improved so much by the end. Norma was more protective of Norman, but she did appear to TRUST Dylan more and depend on him. I'm sure had she survived she would've loved to meet her granddaughter.
Vera was nominated only once in season one and I will never understand. It's like if every scene of a show isn't all sex sex sex it gets no attention at awards shows.
@@lovezekaela3195 that's how things works these days unfortunately ... if the show isn't about sex 24/7 it'll never get the recognition it deserves . It's sad .
Always thought Dylan looked much more like Norma than Norman did, which makes perfect sense when you find out that his parents are siblings and therefore look alike. (On a side note, always hated that Dylan went ahead and formed a relationship with Caleb, love Dylan but that's the one thing I could never wrap my head around).
Why would you hate that? He had a right to know his father. And the way Norma was and how she really would say anything to get her way I’d have a hard time believing her as well.
@@chandlerrose4545 Because Caleb sexually abused Norma for years and ended up raping her? Because Caleb is the reason that Dylan was born out of incest? Why do I feel like I'm the only one outraged by that? People seem very content to forgive Caleb for everything he did and yet, for all that Norma has gone through in her life, all people seem to do is point out her mistakes.
Chandler Rose caleb even admitted it wtf. And when he was told that Caleb raped her the only thing he took from it was that Norma used the pregnancy to leave the house. He was so selfish when it came to Norma and I just couldn’t stand him after that
@@awesomeone2979 Where did you get that from? I've just re-read my comment and I don't understand how you've interpreted any of it to mean that a child born out of incest doesn't deserve a chance. I think you've misunderstood what I was saying.
I feel like their point is he should have. The chance to know his father it’s not his fault that his dad raped his mom. Plus Dylan seemed like the type of guy to try and fix everyone’s relationships
Because the immediate effects of incest are a myth, the chances of those sort od dissorders are low, albeit highter than in normal couples. It only turns into a huge problem when the endogamy is continous.
Because incest only makes problems more likely, it's not a magic bullet. The reason it's deleterious is that if your parents are closely related, there's a greater chance of them having the same undesirable recessive traits. It doesn't guarantee you'll inherit an undesirable recessive gene from both sides (which would make the trait active).
When I started watching the show, I wasn't so sure how I felt about Dylan being another son of Norma. But after seeing this, I realised he was a perfect fit for the rest of this fucked up family.
This scene make me feel so sad 😢 it's a sad and very uncomfortable moment about Dylan's feelings ❤🥹 I just love Bates Motel I bought the whole serie and I just watch it over and over again 🥰
I’ll always hate Dylan for talking to Caleb over and over again & forcing Norma to relive her trauma over & over & over again. He should have left it alone when he saw her 1st reaction. He also needed to stop victim blaming. Honestly horrible.
It wasn’t that simple, she admitted that they had some twisted relationship, being that they only had eachother and two abusive parents. He did admit that when she wanted to end it he forced it, but they had a full fledged sicko incest relationship prior. She just wanted to block it out like it didn’t happen and he wanted to make amends as they lived through trauma together and he saw the error in what he did.
Agreed. I hate what the writers did to Dylan's character. Both he and Norman were way out of line during some events in season three. Bates Motel is dear to me, so this crap was nauseating and very disappointing. Much like real life though. Families rarely understand or fully support the victim.
It made so much sense for me, because it was crazy to find out! But also, it made a lot of sense. When I first watched the show I was like, “man, it’s weird that Dylan looks SOO much like Caleb!”. And then this happened and I was like, “😦. Wow..... now it makes sense why”.
A mother's love is usually unconditional, but if she is a single parent raising a boy it's vital she strike a balance and not smother her son as it can really mess him up mentally.

The problem with incest isn't mutations, it's that the chance of inheriting the same undesirable dormant trait from both parents is higher if the parents are closely related, and if you do then it'll be active instead of dormant. And it's still not guaranteed to happen. Mutation is when you get a new trait that doesn't come from either parent, so it's kind of the opposite.
@@TheNoybusiness it is so astounding how misinformed so many people are about incest. It isn't a great idea obviously but so many people act like he should have and extra limb or something..

@@natasha5553 Yes she did. It's established that they had a consensual incestuous relationship at first and found comfort in each other from their nightmarish home life. Stop simplistic man-hating. Caleb was as much of a victim of their parents abuse as her. He did make a grave mistake when she stopped the relationship, that's when it became abuse on his part. But it's not true that he did it for "years every day", that's Norma being in denial about the early consensual part of their relationship. What Caleb did was wrong but he's no Weinstein, he was a kid psychologically destroyed by parental abuse. And Norma isn't innocent either: neglecting and emotionally abusing Dylan and letting Norman's serious psychological issues go unaddressed, thereby indirectly causing the deaths of dozens of innocent people.
