The main thing I like about Hasbro doing pinless joints is that the elbows and knees are made with ABS and the limbs aren’t as gummy as they usually are.
Alot of people say you are too negative in your reviews, but this figure proves your point, Hasbro can make good sculpts and proportions when they actually try. If this guy had a singular release I would grab one cause he looks cool.
I totally agree with Ants, less paint bad articulation and a price increase. These manufacturers are crazy. Not like the cost of living got any cheaper.
I'm gonna lay it out there, if every Marvel Legend had this much love and attention put in it, I'd be happy paying $25 a figure. This is an exceptional piece and goes to show Hasbro can do fantastic work if they put a little effort in it. I may actually have to track this guy down having backed another project at the time this was announced
Been watching your videos for years now and I just came up with a name for your review segments: Anthony’s AAA coverage (aesthetic, accessories and articulation) 😂❤ Love your reviews, man!
Your absolutely right on point Anthony we need to be getting what we pay for this is why I'm stepping away from Marvel legends and picking up more g.i. Joe figures I paid less than 25$ for sgt. Stalker articulation is great and he came with a load of accessories !
If Hasblow made 75-80% of Legend’s on original sculpts (yes some reuse is inevitable and some retooling) I’d be ok wit the price hikes…this fig you reviewed is a hidden gem for collectors 🤘🏽
Fr, ML used to he loved because it was cheap, and had great reps, but now it's pricey with its important chars already represented. Like what are kids supposed to buy now?
@@sigerlion8608 I agree, I have been a McFarlane collector for a long time and just barely bought my first marvel legends figure last week. I overall like McFarlane more than Hasbro, but I got my Controller wave Iron Man for a good deal and am still happy with him. He also has all new sculpt so IDK, I definitely won't be buying many more marvel legends figures. Maybe one every once in a while.
Very nice vid! What you said about Galactus is 100% true! People keep trying to justify something you spend hundreds of dollars for when its the company's responsibility to make the bang for your buck! There's no excuse why a figure as large as Galactus can't do more than the smaller versions of the brand! This figure Morg, one of the least attractive characters in Marvel, is one of the best ML figures made today?! That's pretty bad for HASBRO! Side note, I also agree about liking a character so much and they make a bad figure? I won't buy it! Smh, anyways nice vid! ✌🏼
AC - when the figure is a simple design and Hasbro decides to go the extra mile, they tend to provide a better product. Morg is no different. A fantastic product that achieves the objective of the concept design. Now that the Galactus crowd-funding paid for this buck, I am anxious to see on whom they use it on next. Morg's weapon reminded me that we never had a comic Skurge the Executioner yet.
@@AnthonysCustoms thanks - you know more about the tooling better the I could ever. So any re-use of the Morg buck would need to be lumpy or would require the Morg tool to be re-tooled. We learn something new everyday. It explains pricing too.
Anthony, I have been using a 3 category rating system for my figures: an out of the box rating, a potential rating, and a brand rating. The first thing I do is give the figure a rating from 0 - 10 out of the box and put that score in all 3 categories, then I start kit bashing and/or modifying it. Now, whatever improvements I can reasonably and practically make to the figure within the first 10 minutes I give a point to the potential category and take a point away from the brand rating. For example, the new Blank Panther I bought with the cape I gave it an out of the box rating of 7 because it wasn't painted. I spent 10 minutes using a fine tip sharpie marker to fill in the glove and boot lines and use silver acrylic paint to color the belt buckle and rope on the cape, then I use a warm grey alcohol marker to shade the muscles and add a Blue Marvel head which looks great as T'Challa. I made it easily a 9.5 figure, so I added 2.5 points to the potential rating and subtracted 2.5 points from the brand rating, which means Hasbro ended up with a 4.5/10 rating.
Honestly, sometimes even depending on the design, even a single diaphragm joint is enough: I just bought the Marvel Select Silver Centurion, and the range on his torso going in all directions is INSANE
I like that this guy could basically pass as a DBZ character minus the axe. The way they actually dialed in a proper super physique has me questioning reality.
I'd pick this guy up if sold as a single figure and I found him in the store--and I have absolutely no love for the character. Love the brutal honestly of your reviews; never change, man! 👏
This just shows how the engine of vengeance was a terrible haslab project (nice project in general, but definitely not enough for haslab). Ghost Rider had reused pieces, basic Legends articulation and minimal paint, this guy is 100% new sculpt, nicely painted, good articulation and it was made as an accessory for Galactus, ghost rider was just a regular Marvel legends that could've been released in any wave, like, if you're doing a haslab Marvel legends I think it should be THE marvel legends, put some balljoints on the torso, give him extra accessories, at least give it a completely new body
I don’t know who Morg is, but he really looks like a fun figure. Just a touch of paneling Gundam marker to his boots will make him so much better though.
I remember seeing Hasbro’s unboxing and them saying his head doesn’t move but his abs do so he can look down….uh I’m pretty sure most things look down using THEIR NECKS. That was an instant bummer. I still love the figure.
Him not being a complete eyesore of wonky anatomy and weird proportions already make him such a better figure than most of their releases, if the 26 to 30 dollar price hiked MLs were like him I actually might still be buying ML lol
He does look pretty dang cool. The topper would have been a darker tone in the recesses of the body and lighter on the bumpy bits and some dark line work on the armor. But yeah word, he looks like a powerhouse
Well said. I was very surprised with how good this figure was. If they’d treat every figure like this, I’d go back to completing waves rather than cherry picking a few figures every other wave.
Anthony, I passed on the Galactus..this figure was the one that made me regret it. So much right sculpt, proportions, and overall execution. 'Bummed no single release. Great review 👍
Whoever did the sculpt for this figure, needs to do a brand new Terrax. In the comics they were about the same height and build. Eben so maybe this could be a tad undersized. The only negatives to this figure: are no energy effect for the axe, no alternative hands (fists and grasping) and maybe the silver looks a little cheap.
If they decided to ever go rerelease this as a deluxe, I would actually get it. Hopefully with some purple energy effect parts on the axe maybe too. It’s a shame this is behind such a huge paywall because this is a good example Hasbro can make good figures still.
Just like most people, your favorite Marvel Legends and Selects were probably sculpted by Mayshelf. I wished Hasbro left him do more full sculpts, they often just had him do the heads or other parts. Unfortunately last I heard Morg was his last full figure sculpts he's worked on for Hasbro.
Zup Anthony, even though this fig doesn’t do nothing for me, I can clearly see what you mean about “proportional” body parts in a comic book character, thanks for the video 😎👍🏼
Neck/chest/thighs and everything else I can somewhat overlook, but I just can't overlook your usual ML male figures of supposedly muscular, upside-down-triangle physique superheroes having low and tiny shoulders. Really appreciate how they did this figure that improves on pretty much every aspect of your usual ML bucks, but those shoulder placements and sculpts are really REALLY excellent and makes me love this figure of a character I don't give a shit about.
Great review as always. Action Figure Academy 101! Amazing figure, too bad he's exclusive to a ginormous overpriced hunk of plastic (and I'm a huge Marvel cosmic fan) Completely agree with everything you said here. So weird that this obscure character gets such a good figure. Kinda hoping on a heralds only set with this guy and Nova (Frankie Ray) in the future. I'd also like to see Stardust, Airwalker (Lee version) and Red Shift. Quit leaving us in suspense! Please give us more details on your new prototype(s)! 🙏🏽For some reason they look even better transparent, was that done specifically to have a better view of the articulation?
This is a dope figure. I think where they dropped the ball with it though is it's height. Some collectors who have him say that he is undersized. He should be about the same height as terrax, in the comics they are both around 6'6 . Other than that he is decent looking 👌🏾
Right off the bat, the proportions on this is better than Galactus. I hate to say it, but that head on Galactus is way to big for his body, at least in terms of comic book proportions. THIS figure, is how it should be done.
I saw the improvement when he was on the stand 👍👍 and side note, morph should have been on the bucky cap mold not the Vulcan body, he is not as big as cyclops.
I see this sculpt, particularly the chest and thighs, and think this is the type of execution I want from a MvC Jim Lee brickshit house Magneto. It's sad how unique this figure is and it's form of release, I doubt it'll ever get reuse
@@ReeceHoward06 Yeah Mafex and honestly Revoltech have some close parts. I just made my own. Red Guardian base and rhen use the magneto shins and forearms, colors match close enough. And those are from a smaller body so makes his thighs and biceps look more appropriately scaled.
@@graefx I've seen people do that custom! I couldn't track down Red Guardian at a decent enough price to do it. I've done several Magneto customs though. Took the hair from the Apocalypse wave Mags and put it on the AoA headsculpt... Perfect 90s Magneto head.
Well damn... I already wanted this figure from how it looked, but now I _really_ want it. Hopefully Hasbro will sell another version down the line, but I believe poor Morg here is permanently locked behind this Haslab. A shame.
I never understand why Marvel Legends almost always have weird proportions. Low shoulders really ruin it for me for a lot of figures. The weirdest part is that other lines from the same company, gi joes and black series, they seem to have fine proportions most of the time. Every time I see some cool figures from these two lines, I'm like, dang, hasbro is really killing it for 6-inch figures, then I see some legends that look like cheap toys. This figure is a living proof of how bad other legends are proportion-wise.
