- Chicken & Rice cooked in my Stanley Adventure Cook Set over a can of Sterno . This is a easy meal to make over a campfire or any other fuel source . Just add salt to taste and enjoy .
Welcome to the Green Cup Club !!! I'm glad you pointed out the line on the cup for the viewers marking the 1 cup measurement for all to see....fantastic simple recipe...and darn now I'm hungry!
Thanks man land I will gladly join the green cup club
Stanley makes some good products. I also like how the Stanley lid fits the Ozark Trail SS cup. The two make for a great kit.
+MI Timberwookie yes they do i am becoming more a fan of Stanley products .
MI Timberwookie I also use the Stanley cup lid for my OT nesting cup. I cut the plastic tab off though and replaced it with a metal keyring
I’m going to make the same mess kit
Timberwookie gets it.
Looks good, nice video... I just picked up a Stanley, and was thinking to cook rice or pasta in it sometime. This one looks like a good meal for on the trail that I can bring in a backpack with the Stanley. Will probably throw in a chicken boullion cube as some people have suggested... but regardless, looks like a solid meal to keep you going in the outdoors.
Good call about the chicken water. All kinds of folk strain water out of can, then add water back to cook.
Liked and subbed! "Damn camera" haha great vid bud!
Great video! I've had one of those Stanley sets for over a year and haven't got the chance to use it yet, now really looking forward to it!
there good for the price .
Tasty looking meal! Good video!
Grizzlytaco thanks for watching
thank you...never noticed that line in my Lil green cups...good meal
Dang you beat me to the punch there buddy this is pretty much how my next video was going to be about! Oh well back to the drawing bored good video man!
heck i would still give it a go , but that sterno can sure took awhile cooking . i think it was because i was making so much rice in a tall skinny pot .
Straining the water was Important, no waste great point.
Nice. I enjoyed that. Thanks
I liked your video far more than I would have had you not said sh:t so naturally when the lid fell. Love it! Great job, I have been thinking about that cook pot for basic use.
Damn camera! 😂 Thank you
@wzrubicon I guess I have a different sense of humor than you sir,
Good quick n easy meal. Thanks.
+Survivalist2008 thanks for watching it was a fun meal to make .
Thumbs Up, Welcome to the Green Cup Club
thanks those little green cups are so useful .
Great idea with the chicken and rice.
thanks it makes a good meal .
i didnt see that line before, thx for the tip and review
john lopes yep that line helps when you need to measure out one cup .
Lol were you putting the lid on upside down???
@campfiretrickery Did the rice stick to the bottom of the pot? How badly? I've never been able to cook rice in a Stanley pot without it sticking to the bottom.
CHRIS REYNOLDS yes the rice will stick . But this can be minimized by removing pot from heat in the last 4 minutes of cooking time .
I’ve bet you’ve found them by now, but they have bigger nesting cups that fit the pot better. I might upload A vid
Just came across your channel. Subbed. Not sure if the handle broke off your lid, or it didn't have one. The newer Stanley cook sets have a handle. Sure makes it easier to remove/replace them.
I have cooked top roman for, nabor kids. In a "Stanley" cook set. In a power outage. Good insight there. campfiretrickery.
great video, simple easy great tasting meal, thanks for pointing out the 1cup mark larned something new, and I hate those ass backward can openers I've bought50 p39's and 4 of the oid timey can openers because i don't like the ones they make now either
They're called P38 and the larger are P51 can openers.
Use the Can Opener the other direction coming back towards you, a lot faster and control
Several YT vids show the right way, so you're wrong about this can opener style. Other styles and P-38 go clockwise.
I use a sterno folding stove, with sterno and a trangia, works great.
Great video man thank you
Oh my days KellyGordonUSA. Campfiretrickery made a fine meal on a camp stove and you missed out due to the SH*T word that accidentally slipped out of his mouth. I for one wouldn't mind if the word slipped out a thousands times as long as I get to see a Man that can actually cook.. Thank you for sharing this video Campfiretrickery I loved watching you...
thanks Debbie Morley , your a sweetheart .
Good meal, I like it. See you soon.
+Nathan4071 Thanks Nathan , yep still waiting for the other package it arrives Tuesday finally, harbor freight is slow . See ya then brother !!!!!!!!
Did you treat your pot before use ? My rice stuck to it bad, had a hell of a time cleaning it
That's what I wondered, because I assumed the rice would stick real bad. And when I tried it, of course that's what happened lol
Hey brother awesome video, how much rice did you use?
He said 1 cup of rice.
How long did it take to cook using the Sterno?
4StrongWinds a good bit of time but it can be done . needs to be close to the flame .
Can you narrow down "a good bit of time" 20 min, 30min, 40min?
DutchOvenDoins you need direct heat constant flame with sterno . and I use to much rice for the cup so it was around 1hr 30 minutes for one cup of rice .
I have a couple different cook sets by Stanley Products. They are very durable and useful.
Yes they are i have no complaints on Stanleys cook gear . Thanks for watching
can you do a video cooking oatmeal over campfire coals with that grate. maybe put some butter and brown sugar and raisins and cinnamon in there . I heard you can set it directly on coals but if I buy one i gonna put a grate over the campfire coals without direct flame and maybe it'll last longer not sure. happy trails !!!!
sounds like a great breakfast i will have to try that sometime soon .
Half a cup of rice with one cup of water, a chicken bullion cube, a squirt of oil for a little added fat with help the texture of the rice but isn't really necessary.
Chicken boullion cube should add a nice shot of extra flavor...
also you probably won't need to add salt if you do that... boullion cube will be all the salt you need.
Nice my friend
I reckon that there's one fine looking meal! ✔ ✔ ✔ I am looking for something like that set-up, but just wondering how long it takes to boil water before you added the rice. Also I am looking at using Dollar Tree brand of Sterno.
With sterno you need direct flame contact , as far as boil time its trial by error only used it briefly for cooking just try it is all i can say . maybe i need to revisit sterno for cooking and do some videos on it .
B man... The dollar tree sternos work great...
Thanks for sharing this information and I will check ✔✔✔ it out this upcoming weekend.
Not a problem bud.... Ul b happy with the out come of em.. 👍👊
B. Mann how did it work out?
were you using instant rice or regular white rice?
Topper B regular rice , instant rice would have worked better
wow! thats awesome!
+Louise Gardner thanks Louise chicken & Rice is good stuff .
yes it is!
Need to throw some cheese and broccoli in there.
He would probably throw in a T-Bone steak if he had one.
Good luck man 👨 in your life
thanks i always try too , thanks for watching .
That looks real good! I luv that you used a SAK can open to the chicken. I use mine all the time. What model SAK were you using?
Cheezehead Chris it was the huntsman model
Fire wasn't quite hot enough to start boiling the water down
Sterno works but its a hit and miss with me on how long it takes . i prefer a gas burner or fire over the sterno cans if i have a choice
You couldn't bring a can opener?
A P38 can opener is faster!
@Margaret Adler
I did but use a P51 it’s bigger and faster to open with
The Stanley pot has the , liquid , graduation marks on the side of it so you do not need the green cup. That's one reason why I put the green cups in the drawer out of the way.
But Brother, dig them Green Cups out and join in on the Green Cup Club...you will be amazed at how them little wonders work so well with a hot beverage.
I left the green cups, never know they might come in handy. And until I can find something better to fill the space with I'll leave them in there. They are extremely durable little cups
nice!
The army finna be like WE RICH
Holy crap (I wanted to say "holy shit", but some folks were upset when you said that after dropping the pot lid)! Where did you buy that rice? And what kind is it? Cooking rice in a Stanley cup over a Sterno burner? I have never, ever heard of such a thing. I have only ever been able to cook pasta (macaroni and shells and such), after soaking it in water for 5 minutes beforehand, with a Sterno whilst out back-packing! How long do your Sternos last?
i use regular white rice , but minute rice would have been better . Sterno will work if you have direct flame from the can in contact with your cooking container . I boiled the water before adding the rice .
With most rice if you get it to a rolling boil you can cover it with a lid and remove from the heat and it will be ready in a few minutes
5 minutes in and he's poured a cup of water and opened the chicken.....LET'S GO PEOPLE...while we're young!
lol I've gotten better at editing videos , it is what it is my friend .
M W no one made you watch it...that’s the great thing of YT is the freedom to clicking on another one that suits your fancy but don’t be rude and act like a troll, it’s definitely not needed or wanted. MOVE ALONG PEOPLE AND BE NICE
0:55 lol
U need a p38orp52
Jw R Do a vid on the P52. Never heard of it. But then again, people say they have P45 too. USGI is P38 and P51.
chicken breast is the most tasteless and dryest part of a chicken !
Add a chicken bullion cube!
Damn no hot souse damn
I never understood the desire to have a tall skinny cook pot. The Stanley pot is a fail. It doesn't cook food evenly - it is useful only for boiling water. Get yourself a shorter squatter pot that will distribute the heat more. It will also be a hell of lot easier to
clean!
you make a great point , but it can do more than boil water . its great for coffee , cooking stews , and works great for cooking bacon with it laid flat on its side .
Cooking stews???? Hmm, me thinks the temperature differential between top and bottom would leave one with scorched food at the bottom unless you constantly stirred.
I have seen people turn their pots on the side before for baking or roasting but cooking bacon is a new one to me. Interesting... you may have to have it slightly tilted to contain the grease.
I used my Stanley pot just like the one you got. I never had any problem cooking any thing I wanted. I used it to fry fish , shrimp , chowder , stew , all types of things. I also carry a grill grate for larger things. But for the size , and weight of the cook set and all that can be cooked in it. It can not be beat. But it does suck that your lid handle is gone and it does not even look like you used it a whole lot. I had bought one a few years ago and it had a hole in the bottom of the thing. I got another one and been happy with it ever since. You just picked up another sub..
Roarmeister2 : true I have the same problem with it.
DOOD!
you can buy a better and faster can opener at dollar tree lol
Uhh wrong. That's a Victorinox Swiss army knife, they have several different tools including the can opener, which actually works great.
Why does everything have to be fast?
teddahrable exactly...people get into much of a rush
I carry swiss army knife but I can open a can easier with a P38
Again another person with brand new gear who claims they use it all the time. Take the neck knife off, wear it on your hip, food looks good though bud, thx for the video
I hike all the time and once I have camp setup and all my wood gathered, I swap my belt knife for a light weight Mora that I wear around my neck (I also swap to shorts and Crocs..lol). My only problem is when people carry there main knife around there neck. Not a huge fan of that.
that knife is over 5 years old , and i clip it to my belt when i need it out of the way .
campfiretrickery -- some folks have knives for 30years that carry & use daily that still look new. Some folks that don't take care of gear got snap decision ideas. Oh well.
Sterno doesn't give off soot like esbit or rubbing alcohol. That's why caterers like it.
Plastic spoons are garbage
Don’t need to watch you open a can
seriously? way to make a 2 minute subject last for 13.
Cooking with sterno sucks!
You use foul language & you lost me
really one little curse word and your offended......get a life
Didn't appreciate the foul language, so I didn't watch any further.
Sh*t when he dropped something..
KellyGordonUSA ..... This is a joke, right? I to don't prefer to be around people using fowl language, I also understand, we are all imperfect and fall short each and every day. If you were truly upset at his blunder, you would of not left a comment and just went about your merry way, Instead, you took the road that led you to be judge and jury. You do understand that if we judge others, we will be judged how ourselves judged. But like I said, he made a mistake by cursing and you made a mistake by judging and passing verdict. Both are sins.
God Bless
Actually I just wanted him to know that the language is why I didn't finish watching the video. It's that simple; however, it sure sounds like you are judging me. If he realizes that bad language may hurt his views and likes, he may keep that in mind in future videos. My seven year old son and I watch these videos together, so please don't judge me.
pussy
KellyGordonUSA ...... Maybe both of us could show more kindness and love to one another.
God Bless
