Honestly, it's much easier to get into NCT by just going by units and not really caring about who is who in what unit or whatever. They basically just work as 4 groups under 1 brand, and sometimes they work together as a whole group (NCT 2018/2020/2021/2023) or sometimes they work in random combinations (NCT U). Each unit has such a diverse discography and somehow still have their one niche that differentiates them from the other units.
one thing to keep in mind wiht this one is that the lyrics for highway to heavne --- whomever subbed it using the english version's lyrics. the reason thi sis improtatnt is because they're actulaly singing the korean version which has a very different meaning. there was a big oops xD

NCT is that group that you need mental preparation for, definitely. Like getting to know them first because of how many members there are, being able to distinguish between units, understanding their concept but even more so getting used to their music. But once you NCT, there's no way out. Their music has impacted my music taste in general so much that i now i despise songs that follow the same rhythm/beat throughout because i'm like "what kind of lazy production is this?"😂 a song has to have atleast 3 genres infused into it for me to like all thanks to NCT. Keeping their title tracks aside i genuinely think they have the best B-sides especially r&b, hip hop tracks. You should definitely check out more of them. They have one of the hardest choreographies too with some of the best overall dancers i have come across in kpop

By which time some of the older members will be doing military enlistment (Taeil was due to go first but had a bad motorcycle accident in 2023 and broke his femur, major surgery has seen him only return in limited non dancing capacity for the last song for BEThere for me. Taeyong the main leader and guiding light for everyone is due to start his enlistment this month 2023 April and will be gone 18months to marines) For this project the company added two new members Shotaro and Seungchan. They remained until eventually after not having their own unit left NCT to form the core of Riize (which is like a NCT unit but is not officially part of the NeoCulture grouping) Lucas had to leave his group wayv and nct after haters campaign but has literally just dropped his solo comeback this week so still with SMEntertainment just not his groups. This drops the full roster to 20. Lastly the company added a new baby unit NCTWISH they are the last NCT unit and the babies who only debuted this year. Sakuya, jaehee, riku, jungmin, sion, Ryo, So they technically mean if we have a full rota we just jumped up to 26 full NCT members. Remembering NCTU can now drop tracks with ANY combo from that full selection. Last year we also got a sub unit NCT DoJaEJung (DJJ) With Doyoung, Jaehyun & Jungwoo. Baekhyun has also left for his solo work and set up his own company that has also signed his exo sub unit members for CBX but has an agreement for EXO activities. We would have had SuperM 23’ comeback but SM badly mismanaged Kai’s deferments for enlistment and so he has had to start his. That’s most likely got your head spinning 😵💫 lol but it gets easier when you break it down into each group then once know them all it’s easier to know who’s all in it. Nct units can drop track or unit videos that are mvs but are maybe half the full song and there can be multiple from an album or mini with a full MV for the main song title track. Solo albums only just started dropping for the members in the last year. taeyong not long had his 2nd solo album, jaehyun is coming with one, Ten dropped his first album Feb 2024, doyoung is dropping his first mini album April 2024. There is more coming! Yay! Some members are also actors and we have seen jaehyun, doyoung in roles on screen, Yuta also launched into Japanese movies. many have been presenters and do well in variety and guests on popular shows. Many are also known for fashion and Taeyong is an ambassador for Loewe, Doyoung for Dolce & Gabana, jaehyun for Prada, Yuta for Louis Vuitton, jungwoo for Todds, Jeno for Ferragamo. Johnny has done work with Acne, Tom Browne and was even on red carpet at Met Gala 2023 wearing Peter Do. There is sooooooooo much music from these guys, honest and they are known for being experimental so there are tracks that have fandom divided as at first it was so different but still they are highly popular and I think because always mixing, challenging, multiple projects etc is what’s kept them fresh and strong. Their combined talents are mind boggling as 26 members but when working in units of solos all have such unique personalities and skills it’s always exciting. From this selection I would say watch all the mvs lol cause they are all quality. Kick it was a massive push forward for them and they were one of the strongest and most adaptable groups during covid with a strong presence throughout the lockdown with loads of content. Favourite is my nct top song (we needed a full vampire comeback era is was too short) but I love so many tracks like kick it, beautiful, touch, limitless, coming home, regular, boss, Highway to heaven, superhuman, Simon says, cherry bomb, chain, no longer, back 2u, be there for me and loads more. Dream tracks I love Hello Future, Boom, We Go Up, Broken Melodies, Hot Sauce, poison (title tracks or track vids) Wayv - they are sooooo criminally under promoted or praised by SM and get so little in albums but we are hopefully seeing more later this year. My most played main tracks are prob moonwalk, phantom, take off, love talk, turn back time, bad alive, action figure, back to you, broken love, on my youth. DJJ - their whole album is great but perfume & kiss are ❤ Taeyong solos - shalala, tap tap, lonely, baby don’t stop with Ten (this is iconic), long flight. Has his own soundcloud where leaves tons of music. Ten - nightwalker, also film with mini tracks MV from album worth watch. (He’s known to be in with top dancers in all of kpop, with taemin, Kai) Dream in a Dream (dance practice let’s you appreciate the beautiful choreography best), Jaehyun - forever only, lost (not officially released but we are hoping his solo album will have a studio version of his self created piece) and his collab with D.ear ‘Try Again’ that I find a real ear worm. Lol Doyoung has done loooooads of covers and OST his incredible vocals are amazing. Love his collab with baekhyun’Doll’. Taeil has covers too and ost as his vocals are insane, he did ‘right back’ a song with Raiden Mark is the most debuted idol ever maybe lol, he started in NCTU and nct dream, then superm. He has a few solo tracks like Child and Golden Hour and we fully expect him to have a solo eventually as he’s fully capable of composing, singing, rapping, dancing so he’s all round good. He’s the leader in dream but integral in all his groups. Baby NCTWISH have just started but they came out strong with track WISH and we anticipate a lot from them with strong vocals and dance. Riize aren’t officially nct but with two ex members they remain close in NCTzens hearts. Would recommend their tracks Get A guitar, Love 119 and Siren. I think I prefer NCT 127 to NCT Dream as I prefer the more upbeat songs. I'm mostly a STAY, but also listen to Ateez and Seventeen. Sub units are the same thing as units, there’s no main unit in nct. They’re all sub units as they’re smaller sub groups of members, that’s the official English definition.

With fluid U pulling whoever from full now 26 members, graduation system that ended because we love Dream, Leading 127, WayV our Chinese reps🇨🇳 and baby Wish the future for NCT. So if you wanna think every group as the sub unit go ahead. I see NCT as a whole, an idea and the core is EVERY member. Within that they have roles some more than one. the heart of NCT, Taeyong is the nuclear centre. They are a connected motherboard of pieces all joined to him. He may not be in every unit but he is connected to all his members old and new. I will define the group in this way and if you prefer literal definitions please feel free but that’s your choice not mine. 💚✌🏻

NCT2020 was a project for bringing the whole of nct together with 23 full members for the year 2020, this became a thing and we then had NCT2023 as well. These are like big end of year full events but have been two yrs apart. We don’t know if they will do the same in 2025. By which time some of the older members will be doing military enlistment (Taeil was due to go first but had a bad motorcycle accident in 2023 and broke his femur, major surgery has seen him only return in limited non dancing capacity for the last song for BEThere for me. Taeyong the main leader and guiding light for everyone is due to start his enlistment this month 2023 April and will be gone 18months to marines) For this project the company added two new members Shotaro and Seungchan. They remained until eventually after not having their own unit left NCT to form the core of Riize (which is like a NCT unit but is not officially part of the NeoCulture grouping)
Lucas had to leave his group wayv and nct after haters campaign but has literally just dropped his solo comeback this week so still with SMEntertainment just not his groups. This drops the full roster to 20.
Lastly the company added a new baby unit NCTWISH they are the last NCT unit and the babies who only debuted this year. Sakuya, jaehee, riku, jungmin, sion, Ryo, So they technically mean if we have a full rota we just jumped up to 26 full NCT members. Remembering NCTU can now drop tracks with ANY combo from that full selection.
Last year we also got a sub unit NCT DoJaEJung (DJJ) With Doyoung, Jaehyun & Jungwoo.
We also had a one single release from Haechan and Taeil who are the ‘sun & moon’ combo but haven’t had more yet from them and is not a fixed sub unit.
Just to confuse you there are also some NCT members in SuperM which is the companies ‘super group’ pulling from their full artists range this consisted of NCT members Taeyong, Mark & Ten (Lucas was also in this group but we know neither if still is or if superm is still viable) along with Taemin from shinee, Kai and Baekhyun from EXO. Kai is already enlisted, Taeyong is about to start his and so it will be 2025 before even all members would be free again. Also taemin has left SM for his solo work and has an agreement for continuing Shinee Activities and superm has never been mentioned. Baekhyun has also left for his solo work and set up his own company that has also signed his exo sub unit members for CBX but has an agreement for EXO activities. We would have had SuperM 23’ comeback but SM badly mismanaged Kai’s deferments for enlistment and so he has had to start his.
That’s most likely got your head spinning 😵💫 lol but it gets easier when you break it down into each group then once know them all it’s easier to know who’s all in it.
Nct units can drop track or unit videos that are mvs but are maybe half the full song and there can be multiple from an album or mini with a full MV for the main song title track.
Solo albums only just started dropping for the members in the last year. taeyong not long had his 2nd solo album, jaehyun is coming with one, Ten dropped his first album Feb 2024, doyoung is dropping his first mini album April 2024. There is more coming! Yay!
Some members are also actors and we have seen jaehyun, doyoung in roles on screen, Yuta also launched into Japanese movies. many have been presenters and do well in variety and guests on popular shows. Many are also known for fashion and Taeyong is an ambassador for Loewe, Doyoung for Dolce & Gabana, jaehyun for Prada, Yuta for Louis Vuitton, jungwoo for Todds, Jeno for Ferragamo. Johnny has done work with Acne, Tom Browne and was even on red carpet at Met Gala 2023 wearing Peter Do.
There is sooooooooo much music from these guys, honest and they are known for being experimental so there are tracks that have fandom divided as at first it was so different but still they are highly popular and I think because always mixing, challenging, multiple projects etc is what’s kept them fresh and strong. Their combined talents are mind boggling as 26 members but when working in units of solos all have such unique personalities and skills it’s always exciting.
From this selection I would say watch all the mvs lol cause they are all quality. Kick it was a massive push forward for them and they were one of the strongest and most adaptable groups during covid with a strong presence throughout the lockdown with loads of content. Favourite is my nct top song (we needed a full vampire comeback era is was too short) but I love so many tracks like kick it, beautiful, touch, limitless, coming home, regular, boss, Highway to heaven, superhuman, Simon says, cherry bomb, chain, no longer, back 2u, be there for me and loads more.
Dream tracks I love Hello Future, Boom, We Go Up, Broken Melodies, Hot Sauce, poison (title tracks or track vids)
Wayv - they are sooooo criminally under promoted or praised by SM and get so little in albums but we are hopefully seeing more later this year. My most played main tracks are prob moonwalk, phantom, take off, love talk, turn back time, bad alive, action figure, back to you, broken love, on my youth.
DJJ - their whole album is great but perfume & kiss are ❤
Taeyong solos - shalala, tap tap, lonely, baby don’t stop with Ten (this is iconic), long flight. Has his own soundcloud where leaves tons of music.
Ten - nightwalker, also film with mini tracks MV from album worth watch. (He’s known to be in with top dancers in all of kpop, with taemin, Kai) Dream in a Dream (dance practice let’s you appreciate the beautiful choreography best),
Jaehyun - forever only, lost (not officially released but we are hoping his solo album will have a studio version of his self created piece) and his collab with D.ear ‘Try Again’ that I find a real ear worm. Lol
Doyoung has done loooooads of covers and OST his incredible vocals are amazing. Love his collab with baekhyun’Doll’.
Taeil has covers too and ost as his vocals are insane, he did ‘right back’ a song with Raiden
Mark is the most debuted idol ever maybe lol, he started in NCTU and nct dream, then superm. He has a few solo tracks like Child and Golden Hour and we fully expect him to have a solo eventually as he’s fully capable of composing, singing, rapping, dancing so he’s all round good. He’s the leader in dream but integral in all his groups.
Baby NCTWISH have just started but they came out strong with track WISH and we anticipate a lot from them with strong vocals and dance.
Riize aren’t officially nct but with two ex members they remain close in NCTzens hearts. Would recommend their tracks Get A guitar, Love 119 and Siren.

Thank you si much for explaining all of that!!... I've literally made notes! Have only recently discovered NCT 127 but I was struggling to get my head round the whole NCT thing. I think I prefer NCT 127 to NCT Dream as I prefer the more upbeat songs. I'm mostly a STAY, but also listen to Ateez and Seventeen. I've added NCT 127 to the list and will try out the others you've suggested. Thanks a lot! ❤
Sub units are the same thing as units, there’s no main unit in nct. They’re all sub units as they’re smaller sub groups of members, that’s the official English definition.
@@yennhiteresa since it’s not about English dictionary definitions and I don’t make any point about to counter that entry as you can read I don’t state any as sub units. All are units in their own right and all under the umbrella of NCT. With fluid U pulling whoever from full now 26 members, graduation system that ended because we love Dream, Leading 127, WayV our Chinese reps🇨🇳 and baby Wish the future for NCT. So if you wanna think every group as the sub unit go ahead. I see NCT as a whole, an idea and the core is EVERY member. Within that they have roles some more than one. the heart of NCT, Taeyong is the nuclear centre. They are a connected motherboard of pieces all joined to him. He may not be in every unit but he is connected to all his members old and new. I will define the group in this way and if you prefer literal definitions please feel free but that’s your choice not mine. 💚✌🏻
