If you didn't know, the guy behind (most of) the mixing, is Thomas Bangalter... From Daft Punk. And yeah I think it's pretty obvious. He worked on most of the album with Modjo, which is why the entirety of it sounds similar to some of Daft Punk work! It blew me away, and now I just can't unhear it haha.
For us kids who were born in the early 80s, this was when we were reaching our max teen potential. This song is linked to all that euphoric thoughts, feelings of invincibility, dreams, hopes, etc. This song is linked to my first crush. This song is linked to late nights sitting and thinking about the future and then waking up to be with friends.... Today at 40 years old, I am still hooked to this track.... and you know why.
Another great track sampled mostly from Chic's "Le Freak". It's amazing that one song can generate a lot of great songs years after. Heck, Justice's "Cross" ALBUM is pretty much built around "Le Freak".
Best time of house music, end of 90's, early 2000's, that typical "french touch" sound... Modjo, Daft Punk, Bob Sinclair, Stardust, Soulsearcher, Discobuster, Superfunk, Arman van Helden, JR DIsco, Phats n Small, Room 5... damn, if you dont know these, you're missing out big time. Truly happy vibes.
In my case, my early 20s were awesome! My early 40s are awesome too, can't complain really! The only thing I can't do right now is go to clubs every night the way I used to 20 years ago (I'm a mom of 2 young kids LOL)
It was generally around the early 00's, but it has been generally underground since then. I'm on board with you though, it would be awesome to have more music like this to dance to...
Tom Brown 1998, brotha. Modjo and Star Dust,1/2 of Daft punk Making a good run to give Disco House some much needed attention ;) A few other put out some decent jams within that 2 year span, but none like this.
15 years ago I caught this video off a French music channel back in India. The fade in of the sampled hook, the tight bass line, and those words, "I feel/ so high/ dancin'/ all night/ you blow/ my mind/ 'cause you're/ so fine." 'Lady' was the radio star, played all around the world, but to me, Chillin' was like that cheekier, slicker side that you knew was a good time.
One of all time French house favourites. Right there in the top with Daft Punk, Cassius, Etienne de Crécy, Bob Sinclar and old school David Guetta. The mix of the tune with the video at 2:02 is totally sick and all what house is about.
Back in the late '90s, early 2000s, mid-teens, listening to awesome House and Electronic music like this, walking around Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby, hitting on the girls, spending time at Playdium there, visiting the (unofficial) Dreamcast store, checking out the latest flip-phones, looking through gaming magazines, getting stoke about the PlayStation 2, wondering about the details of the Xbox, going through the latest 2000s fashion... Good fuckin' times.
This beautiful sounds have been raising my mood and making me happy for more than a decade. Thank you very much modjo, you are up there with the very best of electro house.
Hola, buenazo el video me gusta. Me encanta como bailan las dos chicas, asombroso baile. La canción escuché en Junio 2001 hace tiempos y la sigo oyendo en la radio. i was born in 1966. i connected with a lot of music and was there-and still am- for various styles and genres throughout my age and those from before...but for me there will always be a kind of "sweet spot" that occurred in dance music from about 1997 til about 2005. it became a bit friendlier, nostalgic (already for a period the makers would've experienced themselves in the late 1980's when the 2nd Summer of Love happened), and it sounded less harshly electronic and would feature a singer, with less obvious sampling repeats. Modjo rode that wave with aplomb, creating a handful of classics which i will love til i die, and only wish i'd still been going to discos at the time, cos while i'm sure they packed the dance floors', it was just me in my lounge room looking like an idiot, bopping around, lol!. Thank you Modjo!
This song helped me to get up after my hardest fall in life. None of my teen goals could’ve been achieved if I didn’t find this song at just the right time 🙏🕺
The way Modjo flipped this Chic sample was nothing short of genius.

No one likes a know it all. @kisatosynthstar1997
What about Lady, that's another sample from Chic's "Soup for One" single. That one is even better imo
@@kisatosynthstar1997 That is just an urban legend, there is no evidence of Thomas Bangalter working on the album with Modjo

Decided to see what other songs Modjo made other than Lady, was not disappointed.
That was the only one I'd ever heard from them until listening to this one just now. I like it👍💯
They sadly only released one record. Still an amazing record.
This is an absolute masterpiece.

Modjo was vastly underrated , it produced some of the best music in 2000
"Lady" is extremely popular. Sadly this one and perhaps a few of the other tracks went straight under the radar.
The Disco ball as a helmet is really an authentic and very original idea. seriously cool idea.
How would you see though?
