Jamiroquai is a brilliant band
Moloko, Sophie Ellis Bextor !
Moloko tambien
Modjo was vastly underrated , it produced some of the best music in 2000
"Lady" is extremely popular. Sadly this one and perhaps a few of the other tracks went straight under the radar.
This song is 20 years old?? Seriously!!....Time is passing so quickly wow
Trop vite mon ami
what??? naaaaaaaaaa 20? o yit!
Gettin' so old!
When I 16 years old listed
Now I"m 36
Seriously man time is on “sonic boom” lately of how fast is going
The way Modjo flipped this Chic sample was nothing short of genius.
If you didn't know, the guy behind (most of) the mixing, is Thomas Bangalter... From Daft Punk. And yeah I think it's pretty obvious. He worked on most of the album with Modjo, which is why the entirety of it sounds similar to some of Daft Punk work! It blew me away, and now I just can't unhear it haha.
Back in the late '90s, early 2000s, mid-teens, listening to awesome House and Electronic music like this, walking around Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby, hitting on the girls, spending time at Playdium there, visiting the (unofficial) Dreamcast store, checking out the latest flip-phones, looking through gaming magazines, getting stoke about the PlayStation 2, wondering about the details of the Xbox, going through the latest 2000s fashion... Good fuckin' times.

22 years later, and I'm still listening this song! Epic tune!

After many decaades, this MV is still good.
15 years ago I caught this video off a French music channel back in India. The fade in of the sampled hook, the tight bass line, and those words, "I feel/ so high/ dancin'/ all night/ you blow/ my mind/ 'cause you're/ so fine."
'Lady' was the radio star, played all around the world, but to me, Chillin' was like that cheekier, slicker side that you knew was a good time.
liquidtunes fuck yeah MCM was the shit!
Yeah. To me Chillin' has always been the real shit.

Very well said! Totally agree

Decided to see what other songs Modjo made other than Lady, was not disappointed.
When you thought the 70s and 80s were lost to history they brought it back to you once again
I had literally forgotten about this tune for 20 years thanks to UA-cam for recommending it.
Memories. 2000. 18 years old. Leicester Uni. Clubbing with a bunch of French Hotties. And this song hits. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🥰
Remembering those days!
If you grew up on this kind of music, YOUR CHILDHOOD WAS AWESOME!
Yes...
Yep 💯!
💯‼️
In my case, my early 20s were awesome! My early 40s are awesome too, can't complain really! The only thing I can't do right now is go to clubs every night the way I used to 20 years ago (I'm a mom of 2 young kids LOL)
@Sonya Vasileva I'm also a musician dj and producer, also do listen to hernan cattaneo If you are into progressive house :)
French house has some instantly recognisable traits. There are times when I'm really into it.
Damn, those dancer girls in white look hot!
Modjo baby. Masterpiece
Dude. I was born in ‘84 I absolutely loved techno music (back then all electronic music was referred to as techno amongst kids where I lived). Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Fat Boy Slim, and Moby were some of my absolute favorite artists. Daft Punk is STILL one of my fave music groups of all time. And yet somehow, I have never heard this song until today. I found a comment about it on another video. How is this possible lol.
Best time of house music, end of 90's, early 2000's, that typical "french touch" sound... Modjo, Daft Punk, Bob Sinclair, Stardust, Soulsearcher, Discobuster, Superfunk, Arman van Helden, JR DIsco, Phats n Small, Room 5... damn, if you dont know these, you're missing out big time. Truly happy vibes.
Beautiful vibes! Modjo's best song!
i was born in 1966. i connected with a lot of music and was there-and still am- for various styles and genres throughout my age and those from before...but for me there will always be a kind of "sweet spot" that occurred in dance music from about 1997 til about 2005. it became a bit friendlier, nostalgic (already for a period the makers would've experienced themselves in the late 1980's when the 2nd Summer of Love happened), and it sounded less harshly electronic and would feature a singer, with less obvious sampling repeats. Modjo rode that wave with aplomb, creating a handful of classics which i will love til i die, and only wish i'd still been going to discos at the time, cos while i'm sure they packed the dance floors', it was just me in my lounge room looking like an idiot, bopping around, lol!. Thank you Modjo!
I was 41 when this came out. Great tune and still love this at 62.

I was born in 2002 but I still enjoy listening to these kind of songs.
Same brother. Even I luv songs that make us happy
In the seventies I danced to music that had a great groove like this. I love seeing a new generation burning up the dance floor with tunes like this.
:)
It was generally around the early 00's, but it has been generally underground since then. I'm on board with you though, it would be awesome to have more music like this to dance to...
Tom Brown 1998, brotha. Modjo and Star Dust,1/2 of Daft punk Making a good run to give Disco House some much needed attention ;) A few other put out some decent jams within that 2 year span, but none like this.
molokos sing it back would be up there too
Sophie Ellis Bextor, Murder on the Dancefloor too !
I remember that years.....made my own top50 with a friend. This track was stuck on P1 for 11 weeks as best...
One of all time French house favourites. Right there in the top with Daft Punk, Cassius, Etienne de Crécy, Bob Sinclar and old school David Guetta. The mix of the tune with the video at 2:02 is totally sick and all what house is about.
0:00 - 0:08 is up there too =)
Don't forget Sophie Ellis Bextor and Spiller.
Yes
Alex I think it’s called the compression, I love it too!
Man! That disco ball guy has some great dance moves! Hell yeah!

She would set my heart on fire!!!
the duo died out in 2003. it said in Wikipedia that they just couldn't keep up with their fame. Dropped off the face of earth!
It's mind blowing that this awesomeness is based simply on a few seconds of Nile Rodgers' funky guitar. Genius!
3:25 Girl from Modjo - Lady !!!!
Lol :o its true
1:42 too (^_^)

Ive been listening to this song for years now and occasionally I'll watch this video, IVE never noticed that. Its cool they bring back reaccuring people to their videos.
Anyone know her name and know what she is doing now?
I just loooove the Video lots of symbolism ❤
This song makes me so emotional for some reason, I just feel like I missed out on something. Do I feel like I missed out on some era of creativity and goofiness? I'm 19, sitting in my first apartment, in the arguably best time of my life, and yet I feel a longing for the past. No where to go but the future, I guess 🖤
Sounds like you know exactly what to do! Just keep going and don't worry about anyone or anything.
@Frumpysnorfls you make a really good point. Sometimes I look back on the heat of the worst situations with a rosey lens. And also true, I have found some good modern electronic that makes me feel at home 😊My youth is something that I'll always treasure, so I suppose I should make it worth remembering. (The Daft Punk tribute night this weekend should be a good start for that.)
I’m fourteen but I’m exactly in the same situation of you. I understand your feeling, and I feel it particularly when I’m listening lady hear me tonight by modjo.
COVID is definitely a surreal ass time In our lives buddy. Back then, the growing of technology was just so magical. Things never before done, never before seen, done and seen FOR THE FIRST TIME! Now we are disenchanted, my friend; desensitized to the magic all around us!
@@themoshpit8341 sigh so true. 😔
Got a best childhood ‘bout this song
Another great track sampled mostly from Chic's "Le Freak". It's amazing that one song can generate a lot of great songs years after. Heck, Justice's "Cross" ALBUM is pretty much built around "Le Freak".
The anthem of Summer 2021 !
Twenty some years later, music and video still holds up. Awsome!

Excelente canción, utilizando algunos samples de Le Freak del grupo de funk Chic. No deja de ser una creación estupenda que hace querer bailar

'cause you're so fine
She had such a swing

That look so good to me
Music got my head
Spinning all around
She got me in a trance (trance)
Just by the way she danced
I feel so high
Dancing all night
You blow my mind
'cause you're so fine
I feel so high

You blow my mind
'cause you're so fine

It's insane these guys showed up out of nowhere, put out one of the greatest french house albums of all time rivaled only by Daft Punk themselves (and released right after Discovery) only to then vanish back into thin air immediately afterwards never to be heard from again
Song from 2001 brings me back nice memories!
Back then the future seemed to stretch out for us as far as you could dream...
Fabulous days i've lived on this earth. What a glorious time to be alive was back then. The 2000 were the real deal. We were the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's all in one. All generations before us, lived and manifested through us. The history and culture reached a peak and ended in the 2000's. Music and people got me high back then. And i didnt even used drugs. I never used drugs. Used to dance for hours without stopping and go home at 7AM in the morning, t shirt all wet and with a good sense of feeling alive. Those days....
What a beautiful comment. You made my day!
@d actually mate, i ve been in India when i was just 20 and i ve seen the realities of what other people were experiencing and thought just exactly that. But that didnt stopped me to have the time of my life. Stop judging. You dont know me.
