Go girl. Lesley Gore got even better and better with age, and prettier and prettier too..She must be in her 50's here and she's even better than ever...How can this be possible?
Saw her at a small concert in the park in NJ back in 2005, and of course she sang this and so much new and so much old. She was fabulous. So good to see the audience give her a rousing standing O! We miss you Lesley!
Talked to her for like a minute after a performance in Palm Springs, CA.....told her she still sounded great....she graciously thanked me for the compliment....she was a great song writer and singer.....
Wow, what a gem of a performance! One of the many things I specially loved about the talented and lovely Lesley Gore was the joy she radiates every time she performed. Those back-up trio were delightful and superb, too! Thank you so much for posting!
From "It's my party", I was in middle school, until today, I love every song Leslie Gore sings. Poetry in motion. A beautiful woman, with an incredible voice, expressions that makes the song so real.. Thank you Jesus for Leslie Gore, bless her family amen :)
This song gives me goose bumps !!! Leslie Gore was the top act of her time for sure {You Don't Own Me, It's My Party, etc.}... she was simply amazing and is deeply missed :(
Born in 1946, she had her first big hit in 1963 at age 17....had a big voice then, had it right up til the end......so sad that all the old talents are going ...where did the time go? We'll never see the likes of Lesley again ...Ohhhh Ohhhh, Ohhhh, Ohhhhh, what can we do? Just remember her with love, , sing along , keep the music alive & smile!! RIP ♥
Instantly takes me back to 1964! Introduction of the 64 1/2 Mustang, The Beatles and other British Invasion groups, MoTown, The Beach Boys. Listened to them all on WIBG, Philadelphia!
Jonnie Fox when is this show going to aire. I would love to see it. Also now June the 2nd I'm walking the relay for life in Lesley Gore honor. It's the cancer walk. Sadly missed and loved.
I have a lot of respect for people who did what they wanted to do in life and did it until they no longer could. Its called passion. I can see the passion in Mrs. Gore. She truly enjoyed performing. Back in the 80s my uncle bought me a cassette walk man and "Its My Party" was part of the compilation album of 60s songs. This had to be like 88 or 89. I instantly liked the song and that's how I came aquanted with Leslie Gore. The music was years before my time but resonated. May she rest in peace.
I remember seeing and hearing Leslie Gore in the early 60's on TV and radio when I was 7, 8 and 9 yrs old ... I loved it.. Now Im 61 and I still never ever seen anyone who sang like Leslie Gore. And there have been tons of killer woman singers in rock and pop, (and country) over the years.. This girl was just a 16/17 year old teenager and she's had total control right out of the box. The FIRST real girl of the ROCK era, along with Ronnie Specter.. Hit after hit in the mid sixties right from the word go.. A real pioneer for woman in Rock, and Rock Music in general.. A True Superstar beyond Superstardom along with The Beatles, The Stones, and Bob Dylan. I never noticed all this when I was a kid (especially with all the great music around in the 60's). But now that I'm older, and watching all her performances from over the years, here on You Tube, it's like WTF....God Bless you Leslie Gore...frankfromthe60's
Lesley Sue Goldstein had the bestest in the middle 1960,s. Quincy Jones as her producer.....Mercury as her record label.....lots of hits that only made it to number 2 or 3 because of a group from England called the Beatles I think.
CHECK OUT HER APPEARENCE ON THE TAMI SHOW HERE ON UA-cam. ALL THOSE STARS ON THE TAMI SHOW BUT SHE WAS INDEED THE MOST POPULAR STAR AT THE TIME EVEN OVER THE ROLLING STONES. YOU CAN TELL JAN AND DEAN ARE JELOUS IN THERE ACTIONS TOWARD HER.
Yeah....I noticed that she was getting cheered on like she was the female version of Elvis! Her TAMI show performance is terrific! She sounds much better live than the songs records. She's very vibrant and expressive strong and powerful voice her living singing makes her recorded songs sound subdued in comparison My favorite song of hers Maybe I Know............it's because of her live performance at TAMI .. I notice some uneasiness between Leslie and Jan&Dean
My favorite Leslie song, seemed back then that every other week she had a new song out, and they were all great. Not really that many that soon, but always looked forward to a new one. RIP Leslie, you were the best back then. JN
May all the Angels 😇 in Heaven take good 😊care of her !!’ I was sorry 😢. When I heard she died of Lung 🫁. cancer. Her kindness and Lesley Gore’s legacy will live forever on the world 🌎. History. Love Love 💕 Lorraine Liuzzo Brooklyn Nee York
She was a marvelous person and a great talent. Quincy Jones did not discover Lesley. Ssh talked get parents in to allowing her to take vocal lessons in NYC. Her vocal coach sent severaldemks he made of Krlry after t lessons. The president of Mercury was looking for a singer who could attract the teens to buy records that would be released on the Mercury Label. Quincy Jones was assigned to pick a demo with Lesley. The first demo was IMp which had been a hit in England the year before and a Big in the south sever months previous to Lesley'cover. He was thezpresifeng o
the President of the Percussion Dept. at Mercury and was the closest to her age. He was 33 while she was.16 st the time. Lesley had a very strong deep voice while in her trend but Jones wanted het yo sound like the other female teen singers and had her singing in higher keys that caused her voice to sound thin. Lesley did all her own Harmony tracks after Jones let Mercury two years later but the damage was done. For decades critics accused her of having a rerfh voice. She. Lesley released Ever Since on 2006 apologized in print to Lesley. I was heard Lesley say under her breath that Jones hurt hrr more then helped her. Lesley was a wonderful person and great talent whose memory is now receiving the artidtic acclaim she was drnjrd once she was no longer a teenager. She was. Wonderful personal friend and I am sure she is looking down and appreciates the recog motion she is receiving now. I know as her friend I thank you. Jp
1963..Lesley Gore is the absolute pioneer of 'rock music'. (maybe along with Ronnie Spector).. Even before The Beatles arrived in America in Feb.1964, to officially kick off 'The Rock Era'...Not to be confused with the 'Rock and Roll Era' that began in 1956 with Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly.. The modern 'Rock Era'. Leslie Gore was pure 100% Rock Music....Pioneer for woman in rock?...No! Pioneer for everybody in rock....Unbelievable..Like she knew at that young age what cool Rock Music was supposed to be about..And so confident and hip..I remember when I was 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the mid 60's, hearing Lesley's songs on tv, and my little AM transistor radio..Then I kind of forgot about her by time I was 13 and forward, and in High School in the mid 70s. We all got into The Beatles, The Stones, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Zeppelin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. Maybe she wasn't on the radio so much after the 1960's or something.. Then like over 40 years later I pulled her up on You Tube and finally got to see lots of her TV appearances, and concerts, and video clips, and interviews, and I was blown away...Rock Music would have never had been the same if it wasn't for Lesley Gore...And her interviews over the decades shows how much of a great person Leslie Gore was... I seen every cool rock band in the 70's, and forward, but never got to see Leslie live in concert..Bummer! She passed away before I even realized that she still played live all these years....God Bless Lesley Gore, and Thanx You Tube for all of her great music..frankm62yroldwhitekid
WOW She Nailed that Last Note! Actually this is her Best Performance of this song on her Later years. She would be gone in a few years. She's actually Sick here but you Cant tel by the Voice Sing Leslie in heaven with the Angel's Maybe l Know!!!😍😍😁
I believe she probably had perfect pitch, she's in her 40's here and her voice just has that tonal quality that I believe suggests perfect pitch. You're hearing harmonics and stuff that are naturally happening because she's dead on the note.
They gathered together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rock & Roll at an incredible concert staged in 2003, at the Benedum Center For The Performing Arts.
Sir, this was part of a PBS Special on American Music, produced as always, by T.J. Lubinsky, & performed in Pittsburgh at The Benedum Center for Performing Arts. -----------------------WolfSky9
It wasn't covered much 3 years ago and I can't recall hearing about but it is sad. This song is so wonderfully melodic and with her passing its like the absolute end of an era; it makes listening to it all the more poignant.
Sorry to all those from more recent generations. Today's record industry will not let us have the talent like this that is out there. You have to fit the only molds they allow. This kind of voice uses and used about zero electronic modifications. Another thing that today's music just doesn't seem interested in. The songwriting seems pretty dumbed down also. It is almost all the same load of jello.
The back up singers were great.
best 60s lady singer we miss u rip darling
Those backup singers are terrific!
They are fantastic.
I think her songs were very ahead of their time and she had a timeless voice and she kept up with it her whole life
Go girl. Lesley Gore got even better and better with age, and prettier and prettier too..She must be in her 50's here and she's even better than ever...How can this be possible?
Yes,a special woman that sprouted out with age, gorgeous
Saw her at a small concert in the park in NJ back in 2005, and of course she sang this and so much new and so much old. She was fabulous. So good to see the audience give her a rousing standing O! We miss you Lesley!

Very impressive she can still sound like both an adult and teenager after several decades. Such a great talent !
Talked to her for like a minute after a performance in Palm Springs, CA.....told her she still sounded great....she graciously thanked me for the compliment....she was a great song writer and singer.....

Thank God for mid 60's radio and that wonderful enchanting sound of Leslie Gore that dominated those times.

Music was great in those days remember this when I was a kid
The applause and cheers are recorded. It’s for effect. It works, but audience shots betray it!
Always a beauty with a great voice. Gone to soon. Love you and miss you much.

The production on this original record was beyond reproach, the background harmonies literally soared on angel's wings into the stratosphere¡☆! 😮

The spaghetti straps of the back up singers, makes me assume this was in the early 2000s..
Awesome version of this classic. When and where was it recorded?

Damn. The blonde backup singer is smokin.
Great song arranged by Quincy Jones.
What are the names of the 3 back up singers? They are awesome,

That song is GREAT...but it would really burn with a screaming guitar solo.
The audience are far too loud in the mix!

SOMEONE ON HERE SAID SHE WAS A LESBIAN ICON IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH GAY OR LESBIAN SHE WAS JUST ONE HELL OF AN ICON IN THE SIXTIES.
I wish they would lose the fake applause track, it really ruins the video.
