I remember I wanted one of these so bad when they were announced. I was more than ready to make this the first new car I bought. Then dealers and Nissan ruined it all...
Even at msrp is a lot of money. I wish these were in mx5 price range
Better off waiting for the hype to cool off and depending how long you’re gonna hold on to the car the supra is a better option below 100k miles. Reason I say that is because ultimately the supra will be more costly to keep alive once you get past 100-150k mile range. Plus you never really want the first model year despite the z basically being a refreshed 370z with the vr30 pulled from the q50/60 platform Nissan still needs to figure out if their gonna offer a manual in the nismo version which it desperately needs
@@TedwardDrivesthese would be a steal in mx5 price range
@@IScoreUnderPressure4and unrealistic!. Twin turbo V6 vs a MX5??
@@MWCRUSADER0508Might still take the MX5. It's more fun even if it is slower.
I know reviewers say this car isn't the best driver's car, but this car is just too pretty. I wanna buy it mainly for the looks. It's seriously underrated for its looks. I think people in the future will appreciate it more.
Glad to hear that the new Z doesn't feel too disconnected, I drove and owned a Kia Stinger for a while and my biggest issue was that I never felt I could give everything to the car. Now I drive a 99 Corvette and althought I know I don't give it everything it can handle, the driving experience is much more connected and enjoyable! Great work and Ill have to look at new tires soon so Ill keep these in mind
Maybe some mods could fix the dead feeling?
@@Aristocrafied I always thought about modding it but a vette was my dream car, so I ended up selling the stinger for the extra money and to buy my vette
@@frogator22 How do you like the power on the C5?! Its my current dream car.
@@krabuh its a dream, I have some engine work done on mine and it pushes 400 whp so its more than stock, its so much fun
Im currently looking at buying a stinger, any advice? I'm currently driving my parents model 3 and enjoy the preformance but I do want an engine now.
I don't think I'm crazy about the front end look on the new Z, but the REAR, the rear looks so amazing. Also, those tires look like they're great.
North Georgia has great roads, but you have to get quite a bit further north from AMP for the tighter roads. If you find yourself back down there, find GA 180 from Suches to Vogel state park.
damn, that thing sure is fast
Everyone has "that thing" that they adore. Sure we have a nice car. But we always think that it can be "that much better." Getting the right settings dialed in is a obsession all it's own.
Real shame that this isn't sold in the UK, would love to buy one.
This would be a great UK sports car
@@TedwardDrives for sure, the older Z cars were super popular here, the new one would have sold in huge volume.
@@otter11_marshave to play the waiting game and import it like Americans
@@v8_sami no waiting game, could import one now, it would just be a nightmare!
@@otter11_mars least you have that luxury we have to wait 25 years to import the gr Yaris!!!
How can people dislike this car 👌
I have been WAITING for this thinggggg!
Come for the cars, stay for the Tedward!
🥹
Tedward gets to play with life size Matchbox cars and we get to come along.
I used to run Potenzas on my 240z in the early 90’s
I need this Z in my life
I'm loving the blue interior, it's a very nice throwback.
My 240Z was also white with blue interior. I think it was a '70 only combo (or at least to have the seats in blue, I forget), which I don't get as I thought it looked great. It's nice they have some color in the interior today.
I don't track, so I stopped buying summers-only years ago. I found HP AS last much longer (I drive a lot), are quieter, handling is not far off enough to matter on the street (and maybe even more fun) and is more versatile in varying conditions, and they can handle the unexpected and not infrequent large temperature swings of New England, or even some light snow if it comes before I feel like swapping the winters on.
where do you get all of your cars for pov drives do you rent them go to dealerships what do you do beause im looking to eventually start my own car pov channel
You forget to mention that some of the tires were developed specifically for the cars with which they are fitted.
I have a Z performance 6 speed love the Bridgestones in good conditions, they give a lot of feedback, but in my opinion in wet conditions or poor roads the Michelins or even continental DWS’s would be better
I’m in Atlanta too!!!!
Was looking to get a modern sports car to pair with my 05 Mazdaspeed Miata, and the Z might be the answer! Also curious to how these tires might handle on my car
That shift light would drove me nuts. Starts turning red at like 5300 RPM? Weird.
It's programmable. Someone has set it low
I’m keeping my 08 350z Nismo for a long time..
I’m my area I found a few used under 10k miles and they have a manual. The dealer is asking 44k on average.
I’ll still take the 2020 370z Nismo 6MT “pearl white” over the Nissan Z, because of the hydraulic steering, naturally-aspirated engine, seats, and stunning looks.
Would love to see a video on a manual 11th Generation Civic Hatch Sport. I’d love to hear your opinions on it vs the 11th gen Si. It has the naturally aspirated k20 vs the L15C, and has very little rev hang. I have one and love it
It is absolutely gutless. It is the weakest version of the K20 and does not belong in a modern car. The K20 from the SI was good but did not have much torque. The K24 is where it's at for the best NA 4 cylinder.
@@FishingThePNWagreed on the K24, I had that motor in my 13 Si. It had lots of low end power, and decent high end. That being said, the K20C2 does a lot better in a manual than it does the CVT, due to the CVT having a lot more loss of power through the drivetrain. I’ve driven it in the CVTs, bc I work as a service advisor at a Honda dealer, and it’s so much better in the manual. Actually able to get out of its own way, and a tune wakes it up quite a bit to the point of where it’s a little fun to drive. I bought the vehicle to be reliable, and engaging to drive, not to be a race car. For a fun car, I’m thinking of getting an 8th gen si and going Frankenstein k20/24 for the revs and displacement. As for an argument of the k20C2 vs the L15. I’ll take the slower k20C2 any day. The L15 is riddled with issues, issues that Honda is working to fix, but issues nonetheless. With the L15, you are quite literally guaranteed to have at least some sort of serious mechanical failure, whether it be oil dilution, carbon buildup on intake valves, piston rings failing, direct injectors failing (which is really common) or all of the above. I work at Honda, and I have yet to see one with 200k on it. Serviced an 8th gen Si yesterday with 208k on it, and it quite literally had no problems, not even an oil leak. hence why I want that 8th gen haha. The 9th gen just wasn’t wild enough for me. But again, back to your point, the K24 is great. Gotta get that K20/24 though, and you get the best of both worlds.
I think the overall package of the 11th gen sport is nice but the 2.0 is just so slow. @2000rpm in 6th, you can put your foot down, and get literally zero acceleration out of it.
inb4 “I haven’t seen one of these yet”
Your reviews are better than Doug’s. Keep up the good work, bud!
Rhody is one big pot hole. Those roads are beautiful.
Kind words! Thank you
Wheelspin is not a fault! Dont be scared to push a tire beyond its limit thats what Zs love to do
I just love this car for no reason. Has power, that's just moderate, not over the top and not low. I mean you could beat some mustang on the drag with this. And don't forget The looks 👌🏼astonishing, future classic
Seems like more than no reason! It really is a great car. I'd love to buy one once dealers stop cheating us.
Absolutely I'd love to get this alongside a R35 GTR
Lmao no you can't beat a mustang on the drag with this.
No shot a Z can beat an stock S650 or even a stock S550. Numbers don’t lie
I don’t know I’d rather buy a used R32 gtr for around the same price
I saw these close up in showroom but so tiny
Still haven't seen a Z in the wild...
Is that a short-shift light?
at least nissan still offers these with a good old fashioned manual
Too bad it's a shit gearbox
When's the snow coming Ted?!!??😁
Soon! Maine and NH got some snow today and not even that far north. I need to swap tires on the Honda soon
@@TedwardDrives Gonna miss the M3! Take care out there🥰
I'd love to have a Michelin Pilot Sport 4S alternative, lest they sell out and go on back order. 😂Also, I think it is interesting that Bridgestone chose the Z for this test, since it seems many have complained that the stock tires (ironically, also Bridgestones) are not good enough for the car. My IS 500 is the same way - stock Bridgestones that are just not up to the task of spirited driving in a fast RWD car. Hmm...
Also, hard agree on the suspension comment you made at the end. I had PS4Ses on my IS 350 prior, and it felt like the chassis was having to play catch-up with the tires - like the tires were pulling the car along.
That instrument panel.... WHO in nissan thought, "bingo! that's itt! send it into production". I've seen some ugly displays before but holysh....
this or the camaro ss 1le?
I'd love to get this car if they just fixed up the front grill a little more
Front grill looks great from angles, but I do agree from dead center looks a bit strange.
this car's styling is the best ive seen in over a decade. it has that semi futuristic look done right. car manufacturers have been failing to do this style justice ever since the early 2010's i feel.
What’s your opinion/take on Pirelli tires.
Not a fan. usually expensive and terrible in the wet.
I can’t believe you just go over railroad tracks like that, bro. I am so scared with mine like bumps railroad tracks. I slow down. I will literally stop in the road and crawl over top. Hell no
That steering wheels looks huge in diameter
It’s not
I just can't get on board with that front end...man does it NOT look good.
Even if it's based on the 350/370 Z chassis, it's a great improvement. It would be interesting to compare it to the Lotus Emira, which is on the same price range. 😊
Emiras base MSRP is twice that of the Z, not really comparable
The Z to me is like a more powerful, nicer GR86. I test drove the Z and Supra back to back. The supra was a bit faster and sorted. But man it feels so disconnected compared to the Z.
Why car reviewers say the opposite
A BRZ is like a lighter, nicer Z. 600lbs lighter, higher revving and naturally aspirated, a proper sportscar.
Was the Supra a manual? If not, that could certainly be why it felt "disconnected". I've only heard the opposite, when those 2 cars have been compared.
@@jasonmoyer I owned both cars, and you are living on the moon. Don't hate just because your broke.
@@id1965 I'm not broke, I just don't find 4,000lbs turbo shitboxes fun.
nice
Look like fun and sounds good, but that rev-hang has got to go
The EPA said no. You have to suffer as the end user of a product because it's your fault for liking responsive sports cars that the environment is so bad, not oil tycoons, nor nuclear power fearmongers, or shipping industries that constantly send planes overseas at less than 20% payload capacity.
Every time I fast forwarded the video to get to something else other than him talking about tires, he was still talking about tires. The whole video.
The video is literally about tires. It's a tire review. I said this in the first 30 seconds.
Obviously I skipped that part lol. Chill out bro. What I said isn’t false. Also your main title doesn’t say anything about tires. Lol
My response was very chill. Ice cold even.
LMAO ur a funny dude @@TedwardDrives
Those screens are absolutely hideous. Classy analogue gauges would be the Chery on top.
Can you review a Toyota gr86? Or a Camaro lt1.
Definitely didn't buy the re71rs and immediately sent my car into a tree
I honestly think they should've just scrapped the Z in this economy. As much as I like this car and love the Z's. A "new s chassis" made out of that Z platform would've been way better and easier for nissan to sell because they wouldn't need to try to go up market with somthing that still gives off 09 vibes. AND with thier smaller engines they could've somehow gotten into the euro market maybe. I'm still happy that they went with what they wanted instead of just going after that clout chasing loke toyota did. Also great that theu didn't call it a 400Z considering it has a 3 liter. Germans already lie about thier displacement enough as it is
nice car but $55k for this shud be a crime
Wish there wasn’t limited stock and mark ups. Nissan will eventually say their sports cars “dont sell” and there’s a bigger market for EV’s (aka government pushing for EV only) and will scrap the Z and gtr just like Subaru killed the sti and said they will be 100% EV market by 2030 😂
first 😍😍
Absolutely useless shift lights. I want green 1000 before redline, yellow at 500 before redline, and red 100 before redline. It can actually act as an assist that way. Going red 1500 RPM before redline isn't even useful in 1st, unless you want a gauge for how much the wheels are spinning on a clutch dump.
Is it only me or the video is laggy?
Only you. I can’t be responsible for your internet connection 🤷🏻♂️
Saying the new Z is the same platform is like saying the Mk8 golf is the same as a mk4 just cause the formula is the same.
its not though. it's not an overhaul. the 370 was a retool of the 350z. the new one is a retool of the 370z. this platform is ancient
@@TedwardDrives Interesting. I just couldn't believe it's the same underneath. Must be all new suspension and anker points at least. I suppose at this point in sports car economics it's not worth it.
@@cozza819everyone wants to buy CUVS can’t blame the automakers.
Puntta tacco automatico...vergonhoso.
still slower than supra
I doubt it
Personally find the manual a waste in this car. If I want a manual i might as well get a 86/BRZ or a Supra. Nissans are fine, but auto+engine in this car could easily hit 750+HP and be streetable
a little less conversation a little more action, please
The interior is decent but the exterior is sinfully ugly and scrunched looking, I could never live with one.
Brie Larson ruined this car for me
Look at the interior👌 then look at the interior of R35 🥱
BMW engine
How exactly is this v6 a bmw engine?
