Calli: blurts out curses in English
Every Japanese entertainer she’s ever interacted with: Funniest thing I heard in my life
Takes me back to Polka completely losing it over Calli's swearing back in the day.
I like that you use the word "thing".
Fubuki legit losing it when Calli was swearing in Rust, that's the first thing I always think of when Calli's swearing makes JP people laugh
The language barrier actually soften the blow of curse words. It also work both ways. American curse words became something of a comedy in Japan because how often it was used especially in crass comedy (Also the fact that the F word was launched with less malice).
In more polite country, curse words only used as a last resort.
Calli finally got to praise her oshi in front of the NHK Radio audience.
I didn't know Suisei was Calli's oshi. Kinda makes sense though, both of them are hardworking and put alot of effort into their music.
@@gabrielchin4161 Look for clips from the recent stream where Calli visited Subaru at Subaru's place. Subaru interviewed Calli on stream and Calli talked about her oshi being Suisei.
@@gkanai1400 ah, totally forgot about that, been meaning to catch up on that stream, thanks
Even tho Calli mainly considers Suisei as someone who she strives to be like, it is incredibly heartwarming to know that Suisei thinks of her as a sister in arms on the music industry.
> sister in arms
*looks over at the old Calli is Anemachi memes in storage*
Unfortunately (?) it's like something Sora mentioned before, quite a while back, but in this case for Suisei...
She just wants to be friends, but everyone else sees her as being such an ultimate / perfect figure that they can't be anything besides incredibly formal & reverent towards her, for fear of disrespecting someone so awe-inspiring... Even though she just wants to be seen the same way as them.
Thankfully Suisei does have some people like Calli, Miko, Aqua etc, that she seems to find it much easier to "just be friends" with... But yeah, to a lot of the girls she's gotta be an incredibly intimidating figure to approach casually, even if she's not trying to be like that.
Knowing how Calli mentioned to Subaru that she was so embarrassed to really talk to Suisei because she looks up to her so much, it made me really happy to see Calli being so flustered by Suisei's praise.
Was the same in VCR Rust too, lol.
It's so funny to me when a jp member is listening to Calli using curse words and they start to laugh of the situation
Like when Calli was gambling with Fubuki in Rust
the mario kart tourny with the camera switching to calli and towa just laughing from calli saying these fucking bats
@@baldy117irl the funny thing about that is it was only when the camera was on Calli that she swore, she had a normal mouth for the most of it, lol.
That's because Suisei herself did say some English swear words on stream
Meanwhile, it's a funny move for NHK to censor out swear words with sounds of gunfire
Haha agreed, it's quite ironic, actually. "Oh this word is a no-no for a posibly sensible audience... Let's replace it with *_violence_* instead!"
@@YawnMK1 Imagine if that was done for FuwaMoco. Then they could replace it with Extreme Violins.
:p
The staff heard heard who the guest was, so they reached into the Texas folder
@@ecuronnyThe Texas Folder sounds like a Texas spinoff of The X-files
@@ArispeMatt welp, remember when they covered marine's treasure box, and replaced the "moaning" with bau bau's?
Next level politeness strat: save the “nihongo jouzu” for after the call.
But, well, she had really improved her nihongo to mechha jozu level. While listening I've also noticed that and wanted to drop a comment on it before I heard it from Sui-chan.
calli and suisei is amazing person, both of them really consistent and do hardwork for their music
I've always thought it was kind of funny how even though Calli's whole "bad girl with a soft heart" thing is basically tailor made to attract a very specific kind of woman, she herself doesn't quite seem aware of that.
While being the one who supposedly was the one who pitched the business yuri thing to Kiara, Calli clearly really isn't good with that end of things (i.e.: Anything involving her being viewed as sexy or cute) even aside from whatever was her playing it up, so that sort of blind spot makes a lot of sense.
Calli was really nervous in the interview lol
"Inhales" Man I love Calli.
its all the time spent in nippon that she's picked up the native cadence and mannerisms of speaking there.
MILC
0:30 I'M SO GLAD CALLI GOT TO TELL SUISEI THIS
I also love the fact that Calli swears a lot. I understand her reasoning on refraining but when she lets loose a bit, I very much enjoy it lmao. And as usual, as someone who's oshi is Calli, I always love hearing her get praised, especially with Suisei involved, I'm just glad to see her hard work is being recognized and people love the many charming parts of her personality.
Thanks for the subs!
Saaaaame, everytime I hear or see someone praise Calli, it just brings a smile to my face. Knowing, how much hard work she did to get where she is today as a workaholic reaper☺️☺️☺️
She really has come a long way with her Japanese since that infamous collab with Korone. She still stumbles a bit and could use some more vocab, but she's also been pretty clear in her intentions of practicing it all through things like this or the VCR Rust event. If anything though, actually living in Japan is probably a huge part of it too (learning through immersion).
You kinda feel a bit of that shyness from Calli when she gets praised By Suisei, when the latter calls her Kawaiiope.
Death Star! Let's go!!!
Suisei saying other Holomembers lean on the cute side but she cute too but don't wanna admit it's a very strong point for her 😂
Wdym, Suisei's tagline is literally "kyou mo kawaii~!"
Unless u mean Calli
@@jjQlLlLq I think you're taking it the wrong way lol. She's basically saying she's not as cute as other members since she doesn't lean on it but her being herself already is cute but she won't say that 👍
Replacing curse words with a gunshot sfx is some pretty american shit for a JP radio program lmao
Asian too. We basically silence all of the 4 letter swear words on public broadcast radio.
Every Hoshiyomi and Dead Beat shed a single tear of joy and breathed a sigh of relief after hearing Calli and Sui-chan directly acknowledge each other. So happy they have each other as they continue their respective climbs in the industry.
Calli and suisei are really a good singing duo as they have released many famous songs, and our calli has been praised a lot by her senpai
The rap question made me realize that as much as she's known for that in the JP scene, she's actually been dabbling a lot more in other genres in her more recent work.
Been loving the branching out into different genres in the past two years. Pop, rock, alt rock, punk, and kinda getting into soul with the recent 'Tide' single... Great way to build the portfolio, which is something that some rappers end up doing anyway. They mostly lean into producing and/or singing soul and R&B, sometimes go back to gospel. Meanwhile others go into other genres like rock, jazz, electro, grime, and others.
What's more impressive is how she's never really "picked" a genre twice, aside from rock, which by her own admission is how she envisions the music she wants to make most. So every time you look back on her discography, you have each and every of these bangers in a genre of their own. Every song stands out, and that's incredible for someone who's made SO MANY.
I recall Kiara saying a while back that Calli was questioning her choice of doing rap and was thinking if she should move to a more conventional music style.
Which Kiara essentially called her an idiot (lovingly) and told her not give up what makes her so unique.
I'm just guessing, but it seems she took that advice and continued to run with while dropping or mixing in other genres as well
it's amazing to see how much calli's japanese has improved since she debuted
I wonder if "official radio edits" were on Calliope's bucket list
talent supporting talent love to see it!
You can tell how nervous Cali is every time when she inhales before talking lol
I love that Calli looks up to Suisei so much but also they're just friends who regularly hangout and go eat together.
It must be great to have a friend who also loves making music and they drive you forward as a creator!
Thanks for the translations!
Really appreciate the translation for this. More Suisei x Calli plzz!🎉
damn we shared a major in uni thats kinda sick.
also its always weird hearing abt how cool japanese fans find calli, bc her lyrical work always leaned more corny to me in american english. but it actually makes complete sense then that her work is rooted in japanese rap culture LMAO
As someone who tuned into Calli's debut with baited breath, it makes me so happy how far she and hololive have come. Four more years!
Yura, Thanks for these extra long translations outside normal streams d(⌒ー⌒)!
DeathStar my beloved
this was such an awesome and heartwarming moment man, these two impressive ladies being fans of each other and elevating each other is such a beautiful thing to witness.
She sounds so nervous lol
Really good clip, thank you for translating.
The only people who hate Calli now are thosse Twitter freaks who dont even watch Vtubers anyway. She has earned the respect of her detractors even on 4chan.
The clover site loves to baitpost/hatepost about her... Mori, Kiara and Gura are their favorites to hate on that imageboard.
@@rodrigolivsan and fuwamoco is their new target now
Something has to be truly wrong with you to hate Fuwamoco
Read some of the twitter comments and yikes. They really hate her. At first i thought Mori’s songs are not to their taste but i think they just hate her as a person idk
@@MuhammadHaziq-l3qThis goes back to Demondice, if we're being honest. Two particular sides of Twitter/X seem to have a problem with white rappers not named Eminem. 😂💀
Thank you so much for sharing this with us 🎶🙏🎶
I love both their music and their somewhat goofy personality! It's one of the main reasons I love watching hololive stuff, their collaborations are so cool and their interactions are so wholesome! 💜💙
Thanks for the translations!
calli and sui are absolutely awesome and i respect them so much, i love when they collab too and im especially happy to listen to them chatting here :)))
but I wish the stream wasnt so early in the morning for me :suicry:
Yeeesss, keep cursing and teaching the blue woman more words
Thank you for translating this for all of us who can't listen to the program.
Me personally,
I do want these two to cover p3r full moon ost
Feeling it could work
It's so cool how they both have so much respect for each other and are also great friends
this was wonderful, can't get enough of suisei and calli hanging out, those two are my absolute faves
Calli and sui are both iconic respectively in their own fields.
I love them all and hololive in general and will until my last dying breath.
I will scream their names and sing praises at them until I can't no more.
🩵❤️
its so funny to me when a native english speaker who speaks japanese is speaking fluently with excellent pronunciation then when they get to an english loan word they say it with the most american hard R in the middle of their sentence lol
DeathStar teetee on NHK radio
They have been grinding it out tireless for years now and we fans are always so proud of them
Excellent work! Thanks for the video!
Pink Suisei and Blue Calli
I can't believe it's already been over 2 years since they covered Getcha! together
I’m not surprised imo. Suisei is like that in some ways
Happy for Calli!😊
6:45 Modest as always!
Sui-chan invited her sister on the show at last.
i love these clips you do of the radio shows, have i already said that before?
thanks for the clip Yura
Sasuga Calli. Strongest EN Hoshiyomi ❤
thanks for sharing and for the edit d(^_~ )
Haven't heard Dead beats in awhile
It's interesting that Sui-chan mentioned the whole "When you get big, you don't want to do some stuff", not long ago she was talking about easing off the "Suicopath" stuff in a similar vein as Calli easing off swearing. Sui-chan's now officially on both sides of that dilemma.
I dunno how to explain it, but its funny when Calli's the one saying it lol
Thanks Yura for a great translation. Makes me think, do you wanna translate seiyuu podcasts? There are so little translators in seiyuu radios, would wanna see Bocchi the Radio. But if you want to focus on vtubers, that's fine. Thanks for your service. 🙏
NHK radio with dad.
oh shes being very open about the past life here lol
Calli became Yagoo, she said "Sou desu ne" like 10 times
KAWAIIOPE TT MORI - Feesh
Cali being interviewed sound so different XD
She got nihongo jozu'd at the end lol
0:18 I think Calli is saying NATSUKASHI here, referring to her old song being nostalgic
we could use more deathstar.
Can't wait for suisei to suddenly blurt out "JESUS JESUS JAPANESUS" on a random stream where Calli isn't even participating
Wait till she hears fuwamoco's diss track
That's cute
Suityan also have foul mouth herself LOL
With an elite baby as business partner nonetheless
@@Gamber63 Do yo mean the elite baby who became a worldwide Internet phenomenon precisely because of her swearing?
its funny how cool jp find her and how much the west shits on her lmao
Is it really the west or is it just Twitter?
It's weird that you can't use foreign vulgarity on the NHK, even when most listeners probably won't know it anyways.
need someone from ID join them
Kakkoiope.
By two does she means Boogey voxx ?
Most definitely.
Did the host Uchida Atsuko met them both IRL ?
Isn't she an icon for Vtuber rappers? Is there someone else?
I know that there used to be Boogey Vox, but frankly I only knew them from Mori's own RIP remix contest back in the day and they're split up now. I'm sure there were other before and have been others since, but Calli, for better or for worse, is unquestionably the most well known one
Like the other person said, she's the most well known one. But I do wanna shout out my man Shizzy/VI Seconds. Technically a rapper that does vtubing on the side but I think it still counts!!
Before Calli the only vtuber I knew who raps was Kousaka, one of the duo from MonsterZ Mate.
They had songs like Beep☆CARAMEL wherein Anjo sings while Kousaka does the rap part.
I find it interesting that, from what I can tell, Calli sees herself walking a step behind Suisei wanting to catch and match her. Whereas Suisei herself sees Calli walking along side her enjoying and creating music together.
