Youre probably the only person who has used Black Hills in a High Point
well it is like drinking champagne out of a 7/11 big gulp cup
@@Tadicuslegion78 I've done that >;)

Black Hills in a Hi-Point would be like my car. Fill it up with gas and double the value.
No we do that here too.

I couldn't help but notice it functioned flawlessly.
The yeet cannon is a much maligned and underrated firearm. Low income people have a greater need for a firearm than most, the problem is they are often stolen then used in crimes.
Paul Harrell tested one, and it had 3 failures to fire in the first 150 rounds. He said if you do buy one, you should sit and work the slide about 1000 times to work the roughness out. He though that would help.

I am in the firearms industry and what happens is what is described here, that gun traffickers pay someone with a clean record and/or a valid weapons carry license to buy multiple guns....
I even saw a case where the buyer was retired military, had a valid state WCL as well as being the "owner" of a security company, where buying a lot of the same gun would not raise eyebrows..
What's a "yeet cannon"?
“I’m going to show you how to shoot this properly” (trap music intensifies)

Sideways means he’s going for the Kill shot
Curve the bullet!
I love Hi-Point. They made my Glock 40. I call it my problem solver.
Do your friends call you "gator"?
Please continue this series! It's a peek into a branch of firearms study which many of us have never been exposed to before.
I remember a certain somewhat intoxicated live chat when you said a Hi point review would never happen. Well , thanks for the review! As for the crime series, absolutely.
Glock Family I don’t see this as a “review”. I think looking at it from a forensic aspect is what changed his mind. He’s not giving opinion based information but from a science point of view. If he reviewed it it would just be another “why I hate the....” video. Lol -Heather
No a durn thing wrong with Hi Points beyond the low profit margin per sale. That is the big hate. Dealers can't get rich selling Hi-Points. Usually they are as reliable as the sun rising every day.
If you let them ban HiPoints you might as well prepare for them to ban the remaining manufacturers, because that’s what will happen.
I started watching these videos with the Raven .25 ACP video and then the Jennings / Bryco / Jimenez / Sundance Industries / Davis / Cobra / Lorcin (probably missing a couple here) family of guns videos. Hi-Points...I could actually trust one...one that had proven reliable when tested by me. I agree that they're probably the lowest one can safely go as far as cheap guns go before it becomes downright dangerous.
Having said that, a Hi Point will cost you in the ballpark of $125 to $150 or $175 for a new one. When you can get a new Taurus or Bersa for just a *little* bit more money ($200-$300 ballpark) it makes sense to save up that extra bit and get an even higher quality gun that isn't made out of Zamak.
Thank you for posting these videos. I live in an urban area and believe that everyone should have access to a firearm for self-protection (carry) and/or home defense purposes. The urban area I live in was at one time the murder capital of the USA and is still one of the most dangerous cities in the country...so yes, I assume everyone I interact with is armed. I've seen more than a few Hi Point CF-380 .380 automatics, Hi-Point C9 9mm pistols and the Jennings/Bryco/Jimenez T-380 JA-380 Model 38 Model 48 whatever they are 380 ACP pistols in folks' waistbands.
I don't carry a Hi-Point or any other Zamak gun, but lots of people DO rely on these for self-defense.
just scored myself a hi point model c, with fixed sights for under $100. The deals are out there. ^_^
Can't wait to see a Marlin 60 with the stock sawn off.
It isn't TRULY ghetto unless it's a bolt action 30-30 savage rifle with a 5 inch barrel and a sawed off stock and no sights lmao
We had a case of a bolt action hunting rifle cut down to around 14 inches...... Dumb as f
Now that sounds like fun
So long as you have a high backstop
I can’t believe you ONLY have 38k subscribers!!! Easily, this is one of the MOST educational Gun Channels out there. The wealth of knowledge you have on firearms is overwhelming. Thanks for doing these videos for us!
Now he's up to 96.9k subscribers. Quite the increase.
Thumbs up! I had no idea that the founder of Hi-Point went to so much trouble to help with solving crimes. I agree that the 2nd Amendment is for everyone. It is also impossible to rule over man's hearts to remove evil. Punishing good people for the crimes of evil people is evil. I'm not especially well spoken, but that is the best I can do.
18:52 for more accurate testing you need to do it out the window of a slow moving car haha
With all of the measures they took to make the guns traceable, it sounds like High Point is closer to a sting operation than a firearms company.
Only if you are a criminal.
I had a HiPoint .380 nearly 20 years ago. I got rid of it pretty quickly. It was very heavy but the company did have great customer service.
great info
Not the video I expected, actually far better. Not only talking about the heart and soul behind the company's purpose, but also delving into your previous career and the criminal lab world. Very cool, I also didn't know HiPoints were manufactured to be easily identifiable for crime labs, and that's the first time I've ever seen one taken apart. Awesome all around!
My only possible suggestion would be to briefly go over features and controls, no matter how basic or lackluster they are. In my years behind the counter, I did sell a decent number of HiPoints -a lot of good people out there who don't have a lot of funds, but who still have a right to self defense. I'm glad you mentioned that point, those customers are definitely real, and a sizable portion of the market share.
Overall, very grateful for Brandon, Heather, and everyone else who pushed to make this happen! Unique content coming from experience right here. Looking forward to the next one, thank you!
Everyone knows the gun used most in crimes is the "glawk fotay problem solva".
I'm a gun salesman in Louisiana. In our parrish ( county ) any time 3 handguns are sold to the same buyer within a period of 7 days a ATF form is faxed to the ATF and the local police department with the information of the buyer.
Looking forward to a Glock episode. I remember you commenting on the polygonal barrel causing problems for the forensic annalists.
I think SAS may have just made history by shooting ammo that was worth more than the gun it got shot out of
the up and coming popular crime pistol is the SCCY, It's smaller, easier to hide and still cheap.

When you cut to the range footage... I nearly peed myself...

My first pistol was a TT33 Tokarev that I got for $79.99. THis was around 2010.
It didn't work reliably out of the box, but a $15 spring kit later and it was just fine.

Hi-Points are actually a pretty good cheap firearm.
Their huge and heavy and only hold a few rds . Lots of better options no one wants to actually carry a hipoint heavy cast zinc. Fatter than a Glock and single stack I’d rather have a charter revolver or a ruger .380 etc etc any cheap .38 snub or even a .22 that fits in a Jean pocket
You missed the cheap part, genius. Very few more reliable cost less than a Hi Point.
Thanks for pointing out all that common knowledge, though. .

Love the video. I have lots of Hi Point pistols in my evidence room and a few in my collection. Thumbs up for the proper shooting technique.
It's interesting the .380, 9, and 45 are all built in different factories. One of them also builds the 40.
When you look historically at what firearms are captured in crimes, those used for murders and attempts, you find that people used what was more readily available at the time. Back in the day, 40 years ago and more, you saw .25 auto pistols, maybe some .380's, .38's and such but now I'm sure the trend is more towards 9mm's just because that's often what criminals find. What a lot of people ignore is that a great proportion of firearms that get used in crime are those that were stolen from someone who owned it legally. People are great at buying guns but they aren't so great at having ways to secure them in their homes so when they get burglarized then of course that gun is now an underground firearm. My point is that a person who can afford an inexpensive gun but not a $500 pistol is most likely also NOT going to secure their $150 pistol in a gun safe that costs more than the gun itself. I've seen a huge number of people commenting on vids about Hi-Point pistols with something to the effect "I bought it because it's cheap, I can keep it in my tool box and it's no big loss if it gets stolen." To me, that mentality right there is one of the reasons why it's fairly easy for a motivated criminal to get a gun if he doesn't already have one. A functional gun, no matter how little its dollar value, is still a deadly weapon. Sure, a screwdriver or a hammer can be used to kill but with a gun, you can kill outside of arm's reach which you usually can't accomplish easily with another object. I think one of the problems that we Americans have is that we regard a gun as a trivial thing, after all how many times has a person said "A gun is not bad, it's only a tool"? Well I don't think we're going to make our surroundings safer by looking at guns as something trivial like a coffee maker, potato peeler or a socket wrench. With probably half of adult Americans owning a firearm (or several), I really wonder how many of them have ever had a gun stolen. I further wonder how different our experience would be if we had a gun stolen and then months later we got a call from a police officer somewhere to tell us that they found our stolen firearm and it was used to murder another citizen.
Still don't care
These are inexpensive pistol safes and trigger locks with cables that can be used to secure a firearm. If you want poor people to use them the government could provide them for free.
@@philipdepalma4672 Sure there are and many new pistols actually come with a lock for free. You still see many instances every year where a child or other unauthorized person gets a gun that wasn't locked up with their free lock and either shoots themselves or other person by accident or takes the gun to school and shoots someone. It's because too many ppl don't understand how dangerous the gun is or they assume these kids or whomever can't find. Well kids find things easily. It's called responsibility and awareness.
I wonder if HiPoint still reigns supreme. I'm betting Sccy is taking their market spot currently. Along with the G2c/s and 709 slim. Hi point is old reliable but I bet those guy are making a dent.
I think that's the reason HiPoint is updating their flagship handgun.
Jimenez, S&W, Bersa, Taurus. Those are the ones.
The S&Ws being typically used old 3rd gens and the SD40
Sccy i heard is the top "gangster gun" now. Its cheap, smaller, and pretty reliable.

Just found your channel, and I'm already loving your Crime Series, well done good sir! Subbed!
I rarely comment, but I will say this... excellent video. I actually learned a few things and was hoping that you would do some videos discussing your forensic background in relation to the topic. You can find a hundred "review" videos out there, but this was truly unique and insightful content from your background. Bravo. Cant wait for the next one in the series.
It is too bad low cost firearms get used in violent crime. The Second Amendment for honest, law abiding citizens should not be denied because of economics. A person making equal to or less than $20K/yr has just as much right to defense of life and family and others as a person making $100K/yr. The first person has a hard time providing for food, housing and a family much less personal defense. The second person can do all that much easily.
Great job Chris and heather on the video. The pic of Facebook of Chris with the mini 14 nearly made me piss my pants. I love being a Patreon supporter and I hope that more people join

You were only 50% correct when shooting the Hi Point properly. You're supposed to grab your crotch with your offhand. That way it transfers the kinetic energy back into the shooter from the recoil, thereby preventing excessive "swing" of your offhand side. Oh, and you need a do-rag too.

It would be interesting to know how many Hi Points have been produced and what percentage have been used in crimes. I imagine it would be very, very low as you say. But that fact adds legitimacy to the idea that more guns are used for lawful purposes, such as self defence, than are used for unlawful purposes.

I would still like to see this gun built with a smaller, lighter slide and use a heavy metal insert to get the desirable mass.
