The Partition of India and Pakistan was a grave mistake, a bloodied chapter in our history with devastating effects faced till date. Some good writers may have the ability to make accurate social commentary, but that doesn't mean they fully grasp political issues in their true sense. Also, Hindu-Muslim tensions were not a parallel event that the British happened to merely witness from the fringes. It was a fire deliberately fuelled by Britain's administrative and legislative machinery within our country. The politics of the Bengal Partition, separate electorates, the deliberate repression of Muslims after the revolt of 1857 by British police - all were tools to fan the flames of communal tensions. The British were scared of the National Movement gaining momentum and would leave no stone unturned in dividing us as a people and country.
how I love this book how I love em forster. didnt sit through the eponymous movie but read the novel 3 times over the years. the world is a globe of people who are trying to reach one another and this can best do so with.... years passed and the present world is one I dread what with Russia doing to Ukraine and another major bully in the East
I will always love and adore this writer

Nice coaching by Moscows lie factories
Russians murdered 35 million of their own people
Division of Panjab was tactical and a horrendous divisive act, but great to hear of his book the Machine Ends, may be an allusion to empire?.....
