  • I didn't need one, but why should that be a reason for not getting it?
    Repairing an exhaust leak, rebuilding the carburetor and detailing the engine compartment. Then adding power steering and power brakes.
    Original Missouri farm truck that will be my other daily driver. Plan is for stock appearing one piece steel wheels, doll up the interior, rocker/cab corners and top it off with a Tremec TKX 2.87 1st and 0.68 5th. That paired with the 4.56 rear end and powered by the bulletproof 250 inline 6 should make a pretty good going to town truck slash hauler. Stay tuned!

    The little washer did good. I had a Harbor Freight $79 electric power washer since 2015. It finally broke something internal this summer after washing my boat all day. I may buy one like yours or another Harbor Freight one as I really used it a-lot and liked it. Your truck is looking better each time you work on it…..Gary in PortHuron, Michigan

      Thanks Gary! It's a slow process being I'm so far from any large city. I will give a thumbs up to that little Craftsman Pressure Washer. I was surprised at how it performed being so small! I hope we can make some faster progress on this old truck. Eric

      Nice job, came out beautiful, the Vin number on the RHS of Cowl never came off, the factory always used good quality markers, keep up the good work, I'll be following your whole project , l love the old Chevy Pickups, my favorites 67 thru 72 , stay safe, Dom from New Jersey

      @@dominickpeterpaul8340 It seems to be a paint marker. At first I thought it might be a wax pencil, but I was careful at first. I bought some various rust converters and degreasers as well as several colors of paint in various sheens. We'll do our best to treat her right and put alittle shine on her! I sure miss the days of old, simplicity has always been a major ingredient in reliability.

    Use simple green let it set a day after you put it on and you be happy with it

      I had simple green in my hand then a stranger came up and just swore by the Goo Gone and something else?? I got some off the Goo Gone and some Klean Strip. It is basically an etching rust remover solution. Basically a rust converter with phosphoric acid. Turns the surface rust to iron phosphate. I tested a section on the frame rail and I was surprised at the results. I'm putting together another video with latest results and the products used. Input is always welcome and appreciated!

      @@dougierotten That was one of the degreasers I was looking at in the store yesterday. Never realized how many similar products are out there. Another customer noticed me there, and I know he meant well, but I think I ended up with the wrong stuff. We'll update on the things I did buy and how they seem to be performing. Thanks for the input!

      I was pretty careful around the original assembly markings. I thought they might be a wax pencil, but they seem to be paint. I wanted to keep them intact!

    Done better than I expected... I use TSP for my cleaning agent.

    • @smalltownlivin1828
      @smalltownlivin1828  2 роки тому +2

      I rememeber TSP and that stuff will degrease! Unfortunately, it might damage the paint I'd like to save and kill the grass. I almost forgot about that stuff.

      I used full strength Dawn dish soap all day and it may have killed my Harbor Freight washer finally (its pretty thick).

      I was talked into buying Goo Gone and for heavy spots I will admit it works well, but it is a thick gell and hard to cover larger areas. When I make it back to town I'm going to check that out if I can find it. I appreciate the input!

    Washed a lot of tractor engines with a spray of parts washer solvent or kerosene, a few minutes to soak, followed by high pressure water.

      I am trying to either repair the exhaust manifold or replace and also waiting for a new carburetor base. The throttle shaft is worn and and causing a vacuum leak. The first walk around of the truck a few weeks ago shows the truck running and starting. So, at this point it will be up to when I'm able to gather up these items. I hope soon. I appreciate the interest! Here is the link of it running recently if you haven't seen it. ua-cam.com/video/azEeg6agp28/v-deo.html

    U done a great job cleaning it up I only have one question why didn't you cover up the distributor to keep from getting water in there just wondering

    • @smalltownlivin1828
      @smalltownlivin1828  2 роки тому +2

      The cap already had corrosion in and on the terminals. The plug wire terminals at the bottom of those holes are watertight. I already had a new cap along with points, condenser and rotor on the way. So really the old cap was more or less there to keep the top part of the distributor dry. One thing I did miss was the inlet for the fuel pump. I'll flush it with gas before hooking up the carburetor. Good catch though! 👍
