I’ve been binging Chairmen of the Boards for several days now. I’m pretty much a board expert now. Starting a custom board building company. I haven’t officially built a single board yet, but I’m pretty confident I can do this 😂😂

Jumped on the Tonex wagon early with the big box version, it sounds fantastic and feel under the fingers is what got me…real game changer. On my board, I now have two Tonex One’s in stereo, and kept a big box for just overdrives… the captures are fantastic! Very powerful platform. As many have mentioned, the App is good but needs some love to simplify the workflow and real time editing.

Brian asked if you could connect two Tonex pedals to your DAW via USB. If you are on a Mac the answer is yes. You'd need to go into Audio MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder and create an 'aggregated' device. This would in effect create a faux stereo Tonex 1 pedal with two parallel mono outputs, each with its own amp model engine. There might be a little latency between the two paths due to the difference in the models' implementation, however.

This is really a game changer! To have an amp modeler of this size changes things! You could really gig with this a one or 2 overdrive pedals and be good! Not only that it’s good! It sounds really good! I’ve had the hx stomp and it didn’t work out for me. This I just got and I’ve had no issues with the sound of the amps. Size plus sound makes this a no brainer!

The Tonex One was a dream come true for me. I had the big one and was only using it as a stomp box after cloning all my overdrive pedals. Then my back started going South right after getting a Tonex One so I had to sell all my tube amps so bought a couple more Tonex Ones and some high quality solid state power amps and couldn't be happier although it has been quite the challenge stacking the Tonex Ones using all high gain stomps into high gain amps for some reason 😣

Great show Gentlemen! The Chairmen really held court and your guest from iK was stellar too. This was a no promo visit, just the facts, flaws and all. Obviously Mr. O'Hara doesn't have to sell the product, he believes in it, uses it, and loves it. Brilliant to send you all one too, you kick the tires for us all, the relevance of the question and the vast amount of shared knowledge was impressive, but Christopher didn't blink at all. Thanks as always for in site past, present and future. FYI, this is not a AI reply, and I read manuals too.

I run my stereo tonex after my wet effects because I much prefer the swirly sound. There’s a surprising difference in sound between running wet effects before or after the amp.

Idk why no one talks about how different delay sounds, especially a tape algorithm, when placed BEFORE a pushed amp (or sim) vs AFTER a pushed amp (or sim). It’s VERY different, and I absolutely prefer the former. If you’re running your amps totally clean, it’s not as much of an issue. But I don’t run amps totally clean.
Btw, the double ToneX One pedals on a GWA LongLine “brick” sounds like a brilliant idea to me. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Why don’t you love it, Grant? 🤘🏼

I have an Axe fx III, a Katana, Mooer Prime P1 and a Nux mighty air as modellers, I do live in the studio not gigs, and then direct studio. I have sold my marshall and Fender amps, kept Vox mv50s and laney irt studio. I have Tonex one to put on my board and have captured some presets from the Axe. So captured captures. They are almost sounding the same live. So capturing captures and adding through other amps or the Katana to have great captures live.😅😅

I like amps at the end because of greater consistency between real amps and modeled amps. Your wet effects can't come after the mics if you're running an amp.

I personally would wait until dimehead will come up with it's own compact sized NAM player. The low latency performance of this things is unrivaled on the market - that said, it does that with full (not light like tonex does) NAM captures. According to rumors there will be an update soon where you can run two full NAM captures in parallel on the same device.

I’ve tried almost everything and the best results before ToneX One was from Amp (Fender ToneMaster line out) into UAFX OX Stomp. My problem was not regarding sound, UAFX Dream 65 sounds amazing, but the feeling is that I’m playing here and the amp is there - away from you. With ToneX One into UAFX OX Stomp, I got the feeling that the amp is behind me, like in a room with picking dynamics. I wish Tonex had a better app interface like Line6 does.

Here's a question for the brains trust, is mogami 2552 (balanced mic cable) appropriate to use for trs connections or is there a better alternative?
This would be for connecting a boss ev30 expression pedal
    Thanks!

Just got the Tonex One. Love the tone and agree with Grant’s rant, for the most part. However, Christopher says the Reverb is amazing and compressor really good. I do not agree. They are passable and not bad. Same with OD’s and Amps. Some are great, but others …meh. Is the Tonex One worth 180 bucks? I think so.

Love the Tonex pedal, but please have a real time editor like Line 6 Helix, too many steps back and forth between the software and pedal.

run it into a loader that can do 96k IRs (like the iridium)
That's when you'll experience Tonex staying power

@@Les537 i think the dream in itself is a cool solution for actually being able to tweak it on the fly like an amp, it is a full model of the real thing, whereas the tonex is like the kemper in the "snapshot" essence, when listening the tonex sounds a little more flat, more compressed and less 3D. On the other hand the UA would benefit from having dual IRs stereo to compensate to find the right cab selection

    • @guitareveryone
      @guitareveryone 4 місяці тому +1

As of yesterday I owned the UA Dream 65 for about a year and a half and although I liked it a lot the Dream 65 didn’t have a lot of output when trying to get a pristine clean tone. I actually like the Tonex One Deluxe Reverb patch better.
In fact I can get a better clean tone with the Tonex “Super Reverb” patch when running the gain low and with much more output and some nice grittty tone if I need it. I like that tone even better than the Deluxe patch. It’s VERY amp like. I sold the Dream 65 and am now buying a second Tonex One.
Unlike a lot of older feature packed tone modellers where in my opinion “more was less” because they didn’t offer the best of tonal realism, the Tonex is on a whole new level. I really love how the Tonex One responds to the guitar signal.
