News from Mumine. I was visiting her family this summer in 2018. They told me that Mumine finished the high school, got married and lives now in Istanbul. She found her husband in the internet and felt in love with him. The mother told me "She was running away". But the parents didn`t seem much angry about that. They showed me a picture from the wedding, were the whole family were traveling to Istanbul. The funny fact is, that we gave to Mumine a mobile-telephone after the shooting 2009 as a present. Maybe this was the beginning of something new in her life.

Waydeeper I’m not denying that they might have european genes cuz ya know they have been living in macedonia. No ethnicity is a pure race tho but calling them ‘europeans’ instead of turks would be completely wrong. Moreover your claim on turks being mixed with others and losing their race is a complete bullshit mane. When turks take a dna test most of them get 60-70% turkish ethnicity and the ones who get balkan heredity are probably the ones whose great grandfathers immigrated to anatolia during ottoman rule. As I said before, no people on earth have a pure race so it’s absolutely normal to be mixed in heredity a little

Of course there are cultural issues that don't line up with our contemporary values, but over-all it's a very endearing documentary film that shows the innocence of these traditional Turkic peoples of central Europe. As a Turkish person having grown up in assimilatory Australian culture, it was so fascinating to see another of my peoples retaining some old traditions, even though the general Turkish diaspora and the Turks in Turkey have definitely, for the most part, moved into the 21st Century. When leaving your comments on this video, please don't politicize it. If you're Turkish and someone trolls in the comments, don't be triggered. Just ignore it. It's a beautiful thing to see cultural variety still existing in the world today. It was beautiful to see such strong and beautiful family bonds and get an idea of how my ancestors would have lived their village lives a couple of thousand miles away in Gaziantep, in central, south Turkey. Also keep in mind, as stated in the documentary, these Turkic peoples are welcomed into the fabric of contemporary Turkish life in Turkey if they so choose.. As stated in the documentary, if a girl is unhappy living such a traditional life, she usually finds her way to Turkey. Not to say it's all marshmallows and puffy clouds but Turkic culture, although traditional and sometimes set in cultural ways, does not usually bare the same aggressive, Islamist type of patriarchy that you might find in the Arab world.

Unfortunately, as a guy myself, and someone who has studied world history, you’re right. The treatment of women in many countries and cultures is absolutely horrible and shocking, and has been for millennia. It’s one of the worlds great injustices and is so hard to stomach, if one reads about our history.
The commenter above me, I ask, put yourself in the shoes of women across the world. Live their lives. Live a day in their shoes- see what they see, feel what they feel. You’ll be shocked to find so much pain and suffering at the hands of others directed at you.
It’s so easy to dismiss another’s hurt. I hope our world can one day understand each other instead of tearing each other down, to validate each others suffering and lift each other up. I believe we will have a world like this:)

Yörük women are no push overs, they are cherished by their fathers. I don't think western style clothing represents emancipation I can tell you it hardly is. Western style clothing for women comes with a price; ruined feet and toes, many hours and money spent at beauty salons, etc. Having done all of that most women ask today: Why is it that men don't go through to what women do to look good to women ?

🤔 So, as "warriors", the men spend 99.9% of their time just hanging out, shooting the breeze with their neighbor "warriors" , waiting for a war to start, so they can go "protect their families"? You know damn well their wives are like, "WTF kinda bullshit is this"!?
It's one helluva scam! I bet you that many of the "warriors" would pack up and leave the country the second an actual war started!
👉 That's precisely what happened in north Africa after Obama destabilized Egypt and Libya by helping to take out their existing political leadership. Almost as soon as things started getting bad, the men packed up and left, ALONE for southern Europe! Despite the "news" media's dishonest portrayal of them as "mostly women and children refugees", they were actually about 95%+ men! All you had to do was watch live coverage of the refugee camps, and you rarely ever saw a woman OR a child there!
When interviewed and asked why they left Egypt, Libya(and other countries that weren't even at war), their answer was always something like, "I just want to find a job and make more money", or "because I was told I'd be given free money, free housing, free food, etc".

yes, they are Turks and their ancestors moved to the Balkans during the ottoman era as a state policy, approximately beginning of the 14th century. Most of them moved back to Turkey after Turkey was founded. But there are still lots of Turkish people who live in rural areas as you can see. Life doesn’t get more traditional than this anywhere in Europe. There are some Gorani villages in Kosovo that are more traditional than the rest of Kosovo, but they’re not as secluded as this.
I was born in Macedonia the 80s, and I would still see older women in traditional clothing in the markets. But, this has practically disappeared. There’s some shift to wear traditional-ish clothing among some young Albanians in Macedonia, but its difficult to call this traditional, since it has little to do with Albanian tradition and more with Arabic and Turkish. It’s made up of plain long dresses and burkhas
