Was on HMC in 2006 on the HA Westerdam (it was new then). Girls trip. Best beach I've ever been to. We had the red cabana at the far end and had butler service which was one of the most spectacular times of our lives!!! We were first on the island, never had to venture far from the cabana because if we wanted anything our assigned staff members...yes, plural, went to get it for us. Plus...you were able to choose what alcohol, sodas, snacks to have stocked in your cabana upon arrival and we were able to choose what we wanted prepared and served to us by the chef for our lunch. Chilled champagne was waiting for us and we were beyond pampered. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. They had to come with one of those golf cart type vehicles to get us at the end of the day. We did not want to leave and we were last to the ship with the staff. Oh to be able to do something like that again...
We have always had the Violet cabana with butler service 8 plus years. Can’t beat it for being pampered! Our first cruise was 2007 and on the Westerdam. Loved that ship!
Half moon cay is my favorite private island . To be honest, there are whole ports which aren’t anything but beach stops. Grand Cayman really doesn’t have much going on but the beach. Grand Turk pretty much is just a beach, so is Mahogany Bay. Talking to my travel companions I described it like “There’s no there, there. It’s just a beach stop. If I’m going to the beach Half Moon Cay is the best place. Free food, no one hawking stuff when you’re trying to relax and it’s prettier or as pretty as any other Caribbean beach, but less crowded and I don’t have to worry about anyone taking my stuff when I’m in the water.
Gotta love the Bahama rooster making his presence known. You go man!! We have been to Half Moon Cay a half dozen times now. Never ceases to amaze. The sand is powder fine. The beach is Edenic. The island is pristine, serene, perfect. It is the best "relaxing on the beach" day there is to be had. I could stay there forever. So glad you enjoyed it.
Nice video! We’ve been there twice and loved it, too! In the age of Covid1984, this may be one of the few places we will be able to cruise to. It could be worse!!! Love ❤️ this place!
Making up words is fun. That starfish story is awesome!!! On that beach the water shoes would stay off till I surfed if that was allowed on a cruise ship to take ur board. It’s awesome that u went away just b4 the Drama of 2020. ppl at church thought I was crazy going away feb 2020 but I thought it was an awesome idea especially after wat happened not long after. I wasn’t on a cruise that hol tho as I wanted to go on a city break that time.
Definitely on the bucket list! I love how you guys interact with each other! And that rooster was alerting his ladies that chow was on!! Chickens are persistent little beggars for food! (at least mine are lol)
Been to Half Moon Cay twice. Always a good beach day. Going on Royal in 6 weeks though so will be seeing Coco Cay for the first time. Excited to see what Royal has to offer.
29 days til I go to half moon cay. Probably going out of Norfolk instead of Baltimore, my granddaughters are going on their first cruise can’t wait, have been their 3 times before , my husband wants to take up residency their
We Love Half Moon Cay!! When we were there (twice) we fed fish by hand in the water! They also jumped out of the water over our heads! And, one time we saw a barracuda not far from us! Was awesome!
You will never has as good of tacos as those at Don Lolo's in Costa Maya! However, Half Moon Cay is amazing and so peaceful, I just hope it is not chilly there this time of year :)
Bring your own.basket ball? Better to eat on the ship? Narrator said alot of :'I don't knows'! Hope it's better than it looks. Probobly be going back to ship early!
Love HMC. I do walk all the way to the end of the beach every time I go there. Best way to get a good suntan. Hope you did, although disappointed when you cut to the shopping area! The temperature could vary but water is almost always crystal clear. The last time I went(10/2019) the water will come high to the sand area and will take loungers on its way back. Beach clamshell (for two) are not even $20 for the day; however, could be hot on a regular hot day.
New subscriber here and I must say this was a great video. I am going to Halfmoon in September and wasnt sure if I wanted a beach day or excursions! This video has me sold on a beach day. Thank you for sharing!!
Many visitors to Half Moon Cay don't realize there is a free tram that takes you from the visitor's center down do the BBQ lunch. If you have a difficult time walking, the tram is a lifesaver!
Booked for May. After MSC canceled twice. Been to HMC before, jet skis were not worth it. I think our mistake the first time we went was having an agenda. We should have just hung out like you guys. I can be a bit of an over planner sometimes.
It looks lovely there! But does the Signature Beverage Package apply on the island or do you have to buy your drinks separately there and charge them to your ship board account?
We went here on Carnival Dream 2 weeks ago. I noticed your title saies Holland American's private island. Carnival does own the Holland American ships. I always heard that it was Carnival's private island. Dumb me, not realizing that all of Ships that are under Carnival's umbrella has this destination.
Like your note. I was supposed get to hmc 2011 though due to recovering from storm, carnival stayed at sea. I get there in 2wks! I booked exc now I wonder I did right.
Love how you get sand from every beach. I just heard on Kelly and Ryan show that some beaches will fine you for taking there sand and even jail time. OH NO. I think they will have to fine alot of people. Thanks for the vlogs.
@@EECCTravels it is illegal in Boracay which is located in Aklan, Philippines to bring sand home with you. At least this was the case 2 decades ago when I visited the spectacular beach.
@@EECCTravels I stand corrected. I definitely want to visit here. Took my first cruise ever in January on Carnival and went to Grand Turk and DR, but this looks phenomenal as well. I was bitten by the cruise bug.
Actually Holland America owns HMC as Princess own Princess Cays. But both are part of the Carnival Corporation so Carnival ship go to both private islands.
The people in video kept saying how cold it was, great! Lot of negative comments too. Guess Carnival doesn't check what they air! Not excited at all about this cruise. Thanks alot!
In 1997, Holland America Line purchased Little San Salvador from its previous owners for $6 million. Today, the 2,400-acre island is known as Half Moon Cay and serves as a private retreat for passengers on the line's Caribbean and Panama Canal sailings.
I can't wipe the smile from my face when I watch y'all's videos! Y'all are the BEST!

I'll never forget the first time I was there and being blown away by the beautiful clear water 😍
Great video, thanks!! ❤ We’ll be there in April and I was very happy to see Bud Light at the bar. 🤣🍺

Very nice video. Beautiful looking beach, bbq looked good. Thanks for taking us there. Take care.
We did this exact thing in 2011 and didn't film it. But you took me back that was awsome.

There are so many great stops in the Caribbean but half Moon Cay is at the top of my list along with Aruba Curaçao and Bonaire. Nice thumbnail pic
Thank you for sharing this with me. This was my husband and myself first ever cruise and we went here.

I wish I knew how to do what y’all do! Love traveling!
Very nice. If you have a drink package on the ship, is it applicable on the island. Luv you guys
We had that cabana #5 was great location.
Loves the video .. we go in March : ) What month did you guys go… it was pretty windy like you said !
The water is insanely clear!
One of our absolute favorite islands 💕

Did it matter if she was gonna eat all of it ???? She’s on VACATION!!!!!!!!
The title says Holland America, but I have a Carnival Cruise this June that goes there?
Did you see any fish? How far away is the reef? Is it walking distance?
Watching this is making me depressed wanting to cruise again. Had to cancel our east Caribbean on Royal last summer☹️, one day soon I hope

I wish they would be on my cruise when i go in July to Half Moon
My first cruise 🛳 🙌
What date were you in half moon cay?
One year ago tomorrow
We were on the same trip March 2020. Last trip before Covid mess.
Did u know, half moon cay is also carnival cruise lines private island?
Yep
Our first cruise was to HMC so I was spoiled from there on
Can planes fly in there?

Nope but we made it about half way 😀
What do you think air/water temp in Half Moon Cay at this time of year is? Going in early Feb....
We went at the end of May air temp was in the 80's and water temp 70's
It was so crowded when we were there! I had to wait almost an hour! I felt so bad for the bartenders!!
Was the barbecue expensive
Free
when were you all there, time of year?
This was in February
@@EECCTravels I miss the beach so much, thanks for sharing!
I've been in this very spot nov 5th honeymoon 2011.
What do you do with the sand that you collect from all the beaches?
He so funny.
The island is owned by Carnival, not Holland America.
Incorrect. HAL owns HMC and Princess owns Princess Cays but both are part of the Carnival Corporation.

Margie Butcher Yes-Carnivals lines. Never sailed on Holland-been to Half Moon Cay!
It looks like ya'll had a better selection of food than when I was there on a Carnival cruise. Same type of food just looks to be better quality.
