    Thanks for the review. I’ve tried to add my hub to the home app in the same way but never worked. I’ll give it a go again when I’m back from holiday

      Make sure the hub is in pairing mode first, or it won't be able to be added to HomeKit even with the code - but worry about it later - enjoy your vacation first!

    Wondering if we now can add switchbot hub to Tuya or Smart Life app?

    • @homekitnews

      No you cannot. It’s a totally different platform.

    Nice review. Did you end up adding the Hub 2 to SmartThings with Matter so that all three platforms could control the curtain?

      Hi, so far I’ve only tried HomeKit, Google Home, and Alexa. The latter failed, whilst Google showed up, but everything showed as offline. I’ll be trying SmartThings once I’ve had time to set up the new SmartThings Station.

    Is it possible to make the buttons work with other devices on home assistant for exemple ?

      If you can get the hub into HA, I imagine it’s possible to assign them to anything, but I don’t use HA, so I couldn’t tell you for sure.

    Do you have any issue updating the firmware? I was stuck at 10%.

    I got mine to but cant connect in HK, the device keeps going offline? Does it require to turn off 5ghz all the time?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Рік тому

      Does your network use separate 2.4 and 5.0GHz WiFi bands? If not, you should probably disable the 5.0GHz during installation. Once it’s connected, you can re-enable the 5.0GHz band.

    Can the iR devices controlled by the hub, be passed and controlled via Apple Home? My hub would be basically connected via air to multiple devices, and I would like to control those via Apple Home. Thanks

      Hi, HomeKit doesn’t have support for IR devices (with the exception of AC controllers), so devices controlled by this bridge’s IR blaster are not exposed to HomeKit. You can create automations in the Switchbot app that can then be converted to Siri Shortcuts, which allows you to trigger these automations via voice control, however.

    • @danielemartire
      @danielemartire Рік тому

      @@homekitnews thanks! Which means i would still be able to controll my AC via IR through the hub in Apple Home but not my TV, right?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Рік тому

      @D unfortunately not, as AC controllers in HomeKit need separate certification. As far as I’m aware, Switchbot have not certified the IR part for this purpose. Generally AC controller that use IR (Tado, Mysa, Sensibo etc) are all certified devices in their own right, not controllers within a hub with IR capabilities.

      @danielemartire Рік тому

      @@homekitnews meaning there will be no option to control my AC (or other IR device) via Apple Home?

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Рік тому +1

      You can control your AC using automations in the Switchbot app, which are converted to Siri Shortcuts, but the AC controls in the hub 2 are not exposed to HomeKit. If you want to control your AC unit in HomeKit, you need devices by the manufacturers I previously mentioned. Mysa - ua-cam.com/video/DH96-R2FwM8/v-deo.html, Sensibo - ua-cam.com/video/vzH3CwywvLc/v-deo.html, Tado - homekitnews.com/2019/09/30/tado-smart-ac-control-v3-review/

    Hey, maybe you can help me. I just configured a hub2 with matter and I see the humidity an temperature sensor in apple homekit. The issue is that I have 2 switchbot bot devices that I want to control them with homekit and I dont see them, do you know how to to it? Thanks in advance

    • @homekitnews
      @homekitnews  Рік тому

      Hi, I don’t have any of the ‘bot’ devices myself, but the things to check are that the firmware on them is up to date, and they are definitely connected to the hub. After that you would need to go into the settings for the hub in the Switchbot app, and ensure they are selected to be exposed to Matter, via the Matter option.
