Paul, that was astoundingly beautiful. It took me back to when my parents told me they selected this piece to be played at their wedding in 1946. It has always been a favorite. They have both been with their Lord and Savior now for almost 10 years and at times like this I miss them so. Paul thank you so much for achieving the emotional level that you do when you play. You deserve all the best, and much success.
Even though Bach's main body of work was written primarily for the pipe organ masters, this one piece from his contata 208, has been performed on just about every type of instrument ever built, but down through the ages it has been a perfect fit for piano. Nice performance, Paul.
This is definitely the best recording of this piece I have ever heard. The beautiful sounds of the piano give a calming feel. Beautiful as always, and I very much like the recording angle where one can see your hands.
Your articulation of the different voices is so masterful; it really brings out the nuances of the piece and is such a treat for the ears. You share so many wonderful performances, it's really appreciated.
I absolutely love this piece, and I don't think this rendition can be surpassed. I have listened to it about 10n times in the last few weeks. Mr Barton, you have given this old man a great deal of pleasure.
Thanks a lot, Paul. I can almost imagine the sheep on the fields grazing with the countryside at the background. Reminds me of what is truly good on earth and the good old simple life.
The amount of control this man has with his hands just makes me stop and question life. WOW well done. Keep doing what you are doing the world is a happier place because of you :)
To keep a particular finger pushing stronger than others while playing chords is really challenging and yet fun. Thank you so much for sharing this precious one!!!
My technique is to imagine the main voice and the accompaniement apart even though you use your right hand to play both. This way, it feels to me as hard as playing two voices. Hope this helps :-)
I have a hard time listening to this piece, my mother used to play it and it’s one of the last pieces that I heard her play before she passed. After 20 years, I’m finally beginning to play piano again, thinking about adding this to my repertoire...
I'm so sorry for your loss, too. My mom just died and I found a note she'd written about songs she wanted played at her funeral, and this was one. :-( I hope you do add this to your repertoire. It's so beautiful.
I can never forget my Mom and I driving across the USA when I was young. This came on our Bach cassette and Mom began going "BAHHHH, BAHHHH." Beautiful piece. Your Mom must have been an extraordinary lady.
Bach is so remarkable. It's almost as if he could convey the whole range of human emotion perfectly and at the same time technically. Almost like saying a word so perfectly that it's almost divine or not of this earth. To me, his music echo's in my soul. Gently whispering emotions I can't convey better than I could ever explain. I can't imagine life w/ out his music. Bach was a gift to all of us from God. Thank you Mr. Barton.
Very well said! When you listen to the different parts interacting in his music, it can only come from God. And the emotional resonance at the same time can just floor you.
@@davelee8961 Yes! Exactly! That's in essence what I mean. A man of such dedication and sternness to his craft. Sometimes Stubborn and willful with an insane work output of material and yet there is this emotional heft that is almost impossible to explain. The vastness of human emotion he was able to place inside his compositions. The only word for it I can think of without being overstated is supernatural.
For me, it's the perfect tempo for the exquisite melody and soul-gripping harmonies to sing with seemingly effortless beauty. Thank you for sharing your profound gift.
What beautiful play!! I sometime listen to BWV208, this is the most wonderful play. And, Feurich sound softly, match to this. I listend to this play for one week!!
He means that Bach has made such incredible religious music that God owes him, not the other way around. Yeah you can discuss that God gave Bach his talent but I don't care I'm not even religious tbh. It's just an ingenous way to praise Bach as a musician
Beautiful. Piano arr. Petri right ? Are we aware how lucky we are to listen to that music on those marvelous pianos, without saying with a so talented player ?
It is an aria from cantata 208, and it is not Lipatti transcription, neither Ignaz Friedman transcription, so I guess it is a Barton transcription, and it is very nice. The chords in left hand gives a nice quiet mood, "grazing" I think, and the chords emphasize the quality of a superb instrument :)
I'd like to make a request for Elephants May Safety Graze, down by the river. I wonder if they'd recognize the beauty, perhaps even more than other pieces.
recuerdo que antes en UA-cam salía una variación con un donde rojo y un disco de vinilo, he estado buscando esta canción pero con aquella variación desde hace años , alguien que la conozca?, tenia como un sonido de sintetizador
Concerning bar 4: the fourth chord struck by the left hand I change to F major (FAC). I like the interrupted cadence feel and to me it makes more logical sense given the notes played in the right hand. I hope I'm not a bad person for doing this.

And this old lady too. I keep coming back to this.
Thanks a lot, Paul. I can almost imagine the sheep on the fields grazing with the countryside at the background. Reminds me of what is truly good on earth and the good old simple life.
This has a symbolic meaning, not a real sheep grazing...It is US grazing.
Beautiful comment Debbie, I always picture the same thing as well...except I live near them sheep :)
This is absolutely incredible! It sounds like a modern piece, yet was written hundreds of years ago.
EpigeneticAlteration indeed, it is timeless - true genius transcends time!🎼

Glorious in its depth and gentility. Thanks for posting my favorite aria

I'm in heaven! This is an amazing piece of music played with great talent and feeling for the music. 👍🏻🤗
Yes, this is Heaven for sure!🪽🪽🪽
It’s mesmerizing just to watch your fingers caress the notes. So beautifully played. Thank you Mr. Barton
Amazing interpretation! You found so many interesting voices, thank you!
It seems that each of your fingers has its own soul
A truly touching play :)

This music is peaceful and very beautiful.
Viewing your hands helps me a lot to improve my playing. Thank you!
2:35 leaves me in tears every time. Best part of the piece.
I always think of that part as "real life" briefly intruding on the piece. But then we go back to the beauty contained in this life.
and 1:53
Just wonderful dear Paul!!!!
Good job,u make me feel like I'm floating in the air looking at the beautiful sea side
i also love this music and it is a joy watching you preform, Thank you
Outstanding. Always loved this. Sang as a teenager in a 1960s choir where this was a regular item. Want it at my funeral.
God, I love the way Paul plays, whatever he chooses to play. Wonderful.
Thank you for sharing this. This song touches my soul for some reason and your performance is right on.
Thank you so much, Paul - so beautiful. Listening to you I feel inspired to try to learn this myself.
Paul, thank you so much for this moving, heartfelt and inspiring music. I would love to learn this.
So Beautiful. So gentle. Thank you.
Thank you Lord, for keeping my son safe.
An absolute masterpiece !
Bravo.

Music that comes from heaven from an angel, thank you!
Beautiful piece and beautiful performance!
So beautiful. You make it look easy, yet it sounded like you had 3 hands! 👌🥰
Heavenly! Thanks, Mr. Paul.

Congratulations. This heavenly performance lives up to this quotation.
Schlomoh Brodowicz Are you serious?

Grazie Paul.! Da Italia!!!

The ascent on 2:04 is heavenly. I can't contain it...sheesh 🥺
goddd... this is so beautiful!
Divine. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! That was beautiful. Much love
There's a story that this was (very appropriately) played in a village church at the funeral of the local butcher.
A reminder of what heaven will be like. 😊
Another divine piece! 🙏😍
Nicely done. Perfect tempo. 👍
Well done Paul.

Paul, outstanding. A difficult piece to express with the sensitivity needed.... over virtousity.

This one of my favorite songs 💖 Am I allowed to use this recording as a background song for a UA-cam video ?
Technically the song itself isn't copyrighted but idk about this video

really?
It is VERY hard piece to learn.
@@rothschildianum Well I hope I still have a fun time when I learn it :)
I totally believe you!
Bach is always harder than it looks. If it looks easy, it's hard. If it seems hard, it's almost unplayable.

Paul, you should play the E flat major nocturne.

Love this. Don't have to deal with dramatic facial expressions as some pianists are wont to do.
If there's a heaven, they probably play this song there!
Bach's last words were alleged to be "Do not cry for me, for I go where music is born"
Yes! Bach is on a loop in Heaven.
this is some bomb grazing music.
