I know somebody who works in a congressional office in a red state. They said that they have received the largest number of phone calls ever when it comes to Jim Jordan. 90% of them are saying if you vote for him as Speaker, you lose my vote. This is an area that is very red so that shocks me. Then again, it also is a slightly more educated than average area.

A responsible speaker does not call a vote until/unless they have the votes to pass. Every effective speaker knows this. Jordan does not, and neither did McCarthy.
That's not how Congress works. It literally cannot do anything without a Speaker, so the only thing the acting chairperson can do is keep calling votes over and over again until a Speaker is elected, even if it means doing it 100 times. Someone compared it to a computer that fails to boot and keeps restarting over and over because it cannot do anything else, and it's an apt metaphor.
