Shaquille O'Neal (9 times)

Led by Anthony Davis's 30 points and 23 rebounds, the No. 7 seed Los Angeles Lakers defeat the No. 6 seed Golden State Warriors in Game 1, 117-112. LeBron James added 22 points and 11 rebounds in the victory, while Stephen Curry (27 points, 6 3pt. FG) and Klay Thompson (25 points, 6 3pt. FG) combined for 52 points for the Warriors. The Lakers lead the best-of-seven series, 1-0, with Game 2 taking place on Thursday, May 4 (9:00 p.m. ET, ESPN).

The timing and anticipation by AD for the block is somewhat amazing. The Dubs were having a field day in the middle against the Kings because Sabonis was not known as shot blocker, but this series against the Lakers, this will be very hard to the dubs with Davis, Bron and Vando suveying the interior.

I would have liked to see the Golden State Warriors win Game 1, but that didn't happen. AD is what happened! He has to be the top player on the Lakers for them to advance. LeBron already knows that, it's not news to him. When AD has a game like that and LeBron scores between 20-29 pts, the Lakers are going to continue to win. When you think of the size between both teams, the Lakers have the advantage. Draymond Green can grab a few boards, however, he's not going to be a scoring threat.

I hope that's the case, but the winner will have to play a well-rested Nuggets team, though, which also has home court against either team. It looks like Phoenix with its 3-man rotation (exaggerating a bit, but not by much) will be done in 4 or 5 games, whereas I think Lakers-Warriors will take at least 6, likely 7, games.

Fun fact: In Anthony Davis's 2 playoff appearances with the Pelicans, they were eliminated by the Warriors both times (the second one when they had KD). Awesome performance from him tonight. Looney matched him in rebounds and assists, but AD still showed the biggest difference between them.

Davis was so effective in the middle with the zone defense of the Dubs because of his gentle touch, unlike Sabonis in the Kings series. You can really tell the Dubs were so puzzled as they tried to double team Davis, zone him, 1on1 match but all of these he burnt them all. There was a light at the final minute of the 4th quarter were the Dubs were trying to outrun them if Davis is crashing the boards. That way Lakers can't set their defense. But at the same time this will be an advantage for the lakers as they will counter this one too.

This game lived up to the Hype. Curry is a baaadddd man - the man is dangerous. AD is a monster on both sides of the floor. Lakers got so much free-throw because they were attacking the paint thus getting fouls. The Warriors put up 53 3-pointers. LA got defense, but Warriors 3-point keeps them alive. Once the Lakers get hot from 3-pointers, this series is OVER!
