Same! I plan 6 meals and the last meal of the week is leftovers and clearing out fridge the last night for dinner before I order the new weeks groceries the next morning. Game changer for us! Excellent video guys! We've used 1 car for past 4 years, my husband has free transport to work which saves us thousands a year. Love buying quality also, we are big fans of thrift shopping or we call it opshopping here in New Zealand. Great tips, loved this vid!
Naomi, I don’t know why we ever thought monthly was a good idea. Lol sometimes the best way to save time is to do things in small increments instead of all in one go.
7:38 You should look into the health effects caused by synthetic fabrics though. There are other great natural alternatives to cotton without settling for synthetics.
I enjoy watching your videos because they are different than the usual “frugal” ones because it looks from the outside that you moved to get a nice house in a nice place that you WANT to be instead of the sacrifice and live in a not nice place in a location you don’t want, working in a job you don’t want and sacrifice all to save and pay off debt videos. From the outside, that is a nice house with a really pretty property unless there’s serious problems with the place or something we don’t know about it. You even have a garage! Nice to see the “non- sacrifice,” sacrifice! You are also working a career you seem to like which is also so different from those in videos that quit pursuing a career (FIRE) or stick with something they don’t like to save. You guys are just refreshing and different and dare I say……….seem genuinely happy and content which is the most awesome!!
Wow. This is a really sweet comment. Thank you. Grace and I just wanted to share our journey to happiness and fulfillment without making tons of money or waiting til a certain age. We’re still learning but we hope to encourage others to live the life they want too not what society expects of them.
I buy groceries every 7-10 days which had helped a lot to reduce food waste. My trouble is that when I have produce that I need to cook within a window of time, but work gets busy or I just feel too exhausted to cook then it goes bad bc I ate my emergency freezer or pantry meals instead of cooking w my fresh produce. Another thing is that I’m trying to increase my diversity of produce so I buy fruits I’m not used to eating and I put off eating them cause I eat my favorites first and then they go bad. Im gonna just buy less produce at a time even if that means I have to go to the grocery store more often. I haaaate throwing food away
what I learned from @Lo Mills channel, is if you let something go bad before you got a chance on eating it, you cant replace it the next shopping trip or two. i havent done it but its a good reminder when putting those " i want to be an apple person, so i keep buying them but never eat them"
I feel you. My boyfriend and I also try to eat more produce but we aren’t used to it and we waste some. What I think is great for us is to buy frozen veggies or fruits. Granted they’re not « fresh » but as opposed to canned ones nothing is added and we can keep them for longer ☺️
I definitely feel you on most of those! I started using a broker for my homeowners and auto insurance last year. Another odd ball tip is doing your own hair and nails and to add to the thrift shop idea, include shopping at the $1 store, estate/tag sales + Facebook Marketplace. Also we invested in a water purifier for our sink and saved a ton of money instead of buying water bottles!
I'm already in the grocery store weekly. But my problem is double buying. I have to get better at planning my meals for the week and eat exactly that. Usually by mid week, I am already buying breakfast and/or lunch out. I will make an effort to make my meals last until Friday so that I may enjoy happy hours somewhere instead. Good tips. Btw, surprised that you guys weren't already doing prepaid cell phones in your debt free life. Yes, it is certainly the way to go. One of the best and longest frugal tips that I've done...20 years today.
Great reminder about food! Can we have a video on how life with your little one is?? Always keen to hear new parents talk about the transition / 4th trimester especially because you guys are doing simplified living like me😊🇦🇺
Another thing regarding cars: Keep up with the maintenance! Get your oil changed according to the manufacturer's recommendations, keep your tires and brakes in good operating condition. Most vehicles, if maintained to minimums, will last a long time. Also-my car is 11 years old and the AC quit working last summer. I have had a lot of sweaty rides for the last 2 summers. Guess what? Air Conditioning isn't a requirement for the car to run! Roll the windows down, turn up the cold air vent(yes, it will be warm air coming through on a hot day), and drive. You'll get a breeze, and the vent will help blow some of the hot air out. Also, the safer you drive and the less aggressive you are, it will save wear and tear. Get regular car washes, especially if you live in a cold weather climate where they salt the roads. Rust killed my first car.
@@gojereme That is true. But if you take care of them, they last a long time. Older cars tend to be cheaper overall. No payments, lower insurance, etc. Again, that's if you take care of them properly. I have been driving the same car for over 9 years now. I will keep driving it until it falls apart or blows up.
I shop only once a week and I meal prep my go to stores is rulers and Aldis use lots of frozen vegetables and buy fruit that’s only in season because there way cheaper and buy clearance meats and freeze them also
We were 10 out of 10! Of course, we are also old enough to be your parents so we've learned from experience. I'm also a frugal person to start with. :-)
I live in a Portland area, but do not know any really good, affordable restaurants; what were your top 3 picks? I would appreciate if you have time to answer 🍝🫕🥘; I like Thai, Italian, Middle East type of food
Yes I shop at good will and I shop at the mall and will spend 200 on boots as well it does save you because yes you use those boots for years and some clothes you find at good will are really great name brand clothes as well
Thank you for bringing up the cell phone I know this won't work for everyone but me and my daughter has metro and I have a cell phone and she has a tablet for 65 a month that works for us
Definitely Happy Hour. I don't know how to get around $84 a month of internet service. We literally have only one company and they know that we have nowhere else to go to. I feel like if I told them I'm canceling, they'll be like, OK, go ahead. :-)
Right I used to live somewhere else where my internet was 50 and under but moved somewhere for cheaper housing and the internet is way expensive. Few companies I’m looking in still are too high. Right now we are on a discount but when that ends I have to find something else. Always trying to find ways to lower expense. Electricity absolutely horrible still with all I do to save on it. I don’t even own a dryer, don’t use the heat 24/7, plug things out, still these people charge so much. They trying to tell me I use too much I’m like just using the heater here and there and summer bill way lower 2x lower than my winter. These people are robbing me.
@@gojereme 😂😂 true. I came up with the name because I honestly do like white rice in my salad. I like a lot of weird food combinations. I do comment on the Dave Ramsey show a lot. I like the show but I really like yours and your wife’s a lot also. You give alot of great tips. Truly appreciate it.

I completely agree with shopping weekly. I have less waste and I know what’s in my fridge. It’s easier to manage it all on a weekly basis

You look like such a power couple both listening to each other respectfully and your journey together is just amazing so much respect for your love ✊🏽
unrelated but your wife is GLOWING
Lol I’m a blessed man
I shop twice a week, Monday and Thursday, because I found that I was wasting less food. My food budget decreased.
Nice Frank, you found what works for you! We never tried twice a week, but once a week seems to be our sweet spot.

This video is WAY better than the title suggests. All of your suggestions can move the needle in a HUGE way

Im going to try Mint after my att contract is up
