2 Fall Promos from CBS from late 1977!!

From late 1977, here are two Fall promos: one for a new show called "On Our Own," and the other for a 1-shot special called "CBS Galaxy" with Dick Van Dyke. Taped from WJKW, Ch. 8, Cleveland.

I just loved all of these shows back then. Things were so much different. Most families watched television shows together. It made you feel so connected to each other. Plus you kind of knew your friends, co-workers, or classmates were pretty much watching the same thing or something you knew of, since there was only three major networks and s handful of local the stations to watch back then.

On Our Own was a really funny show. They didn’t give it enough time to grow. Bess Armstrong was in a lot of tv shows & movies but never became huge. She was alway sooooo close. She was in one of my favorite movies of all time. The Four Seasons.

while funny, "On Our Own," was simply a sophisticated, updated 70s version of "Laverne and Shirley."

On Our Own ranked around 30th for the season and had a great time slow between Rhoda and All in the Family. A lot of people thought that it would be renewed and probably barely wasn't.

On Our Own was a favoreite show of mine. Unfortunately,it might have reminded too many people of the Mary Tyler Moore show and it only lasted one season.

On our own was one of my favorite shows two ,and I was 10years old in 1977 me and my grandmother loved that show it was a funny show, I was they would show all the episodes instead of just episode 5 .

It's linked to MTM by way of THE GOLDEN GIRLS: Lyn Greene went on to play Young Dorothy in flashbacks on the latter show.

Pity there are no complete episodes to see on UA-cam; I was 11 when it aired and liked the show.

@@eduardo_corrochio It's on Amazon Prime now! Sadly, three episodes didn't make it, including the one advertised in this clip. Still, it's a fun time capsule.

The "On Our Own" promo was V/O'd by Norm Stevens, and the CBS 'Eye-D' by Wally King, but who did the "CBS Galaxy" promo V/O?
